We arrived from our hotel from Dublin after some sightseeing along the way. We were shown to our suites on the 4th floo after a nice welcome from the front desk and hotel porter. The suites were amazing and the views took your breath away....actually better from there than right on the lake. We had dinner in the restaurant on the Sat night which was very busy but we were happy to relax and wait and listen to the pianist in the bar. The presentation of the food was excellent and we all enjoyed our meals I ate off the fixed price menu which was excellent value...the restaurant manager was very pleasant and chatted with us throughout the evening. The breakfast was very good and again the staff were really friendly The icing on the cake was the Spa and the staff....really lovely and the young lady JoHannah that was my therapist was a delight. The housekeeping was excellent and the staff could not do enough in all areas of the hotel to ensure we were enjoying our stay. Yes there are some areas that need refurbishment and I understand that is in the pipeline. We would most definately return and have already talked about coming for a weekend in the Spring to see the gardens and lake at a different time of year. Thank you to all the team at the hotel.
Have just returned from a weekend stay celebrating our 15 yr wedding anniversary. Arrived to be greeted with an upgrade to the aghadoe suite which was a very nice touch (thank you) so a great start to the weekend. Staff were extremely nice nothing too much of a bother for them. We ate in the restaurant once during our stay. We had a very bad meal in Killarney the previous evening so a decent meal was very much appreciated. we ate from the 3 course menu which was great value and the food was delicious, starter, main, dessert, petit four and tea/coffee for around €32 (I think !). I visited the spa for their hot stone and seaweed massage which was very enjoyable experience. The only negative I have and it is small so that's why it is not 5 stars. The lounge area and restaurant lacks a little ambiance/atmosphere. It's the only real common area within the hotel and not a lot going on. They have a pianist in the evening that goes between the restaurant and the lounge to play. It is lovely to have a bit of music whilst you have you dinner, But half way through the dinner he ups and leaves to the lounge area leaving no atmosphere, not even music playing in the background. When finishing dinner you go to the lounge for a drink and the pianist finishes just before 11 pm on at sat evening!! All in all a great stay and would stay again.
An outstanding place to spend six days! We had a view of the lakes and mountains and old stone ruin and never tired of looking at it. Our room was beautiful and spotless except the twin beds were a bit soft. My companion had to add two toss pillows under her mattress so it didn't feel like a hammock. The bathroom was spacious and worked well. We enjoyed room service and the massage at the spa, the steam rooms and the pool - as well and delicious breakfasts and meals. All the staff was helpful and accommodating and attentive. They made taking day trips from here a pleasure. We would definitely come back! What a difference a nice place to stay makes to your first visit to a country..
We visited here from London as a belated birthday treat for my mum. As soon as we arrived in the car park we knew the day was going to be great. The views are breathtaking (especially for a city group like us!) Mountains, lakes and beautifully kept gardens surround the hotel + spa. We didn't actually stay in the hotel but spent the day using the spa facilities, all are clean and the staff are wonderful. We each had a massage, followed by raspberry sorbet in the relaxation room under a big fluffy blanket. We ate in the restaurant (in our gowns) and had a lovely meal. Lunch is included in the spa ticket price and it's a really good deal. This little gem is just where you need to be if you're in search of relaxation.
We had my sisters hen party in the terrace Bar. They catered a buffet for almost 30 women. The food was delicious. The room was absolutely perfect. We were treated with the utmost respect by the aghadoe heights staff. They were absolutely wonderful and I think this is why this hotel is outstanding. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.
2nd visit to Aghadoe Heights. Amazing hotel with even better views. Breakfast is wonderful, great staff. Jayne on the breakfast was also funny, with a dry smile. Stephen barman remembered us from a previous stay 3 years ago. Some small points. No USB point in the room, had a garden room with NO garden furniture? Bit mean with the shampoo and other bits? At those prices extra squirt of shampoo please!!! Spa closed at 6pm. No good for golfers out all day! Room 256 was a long par 5 from the bar!! Thought the shuttle bus went into town as and when, but was on set times. Was offer 6 30 or 8 30. Had to book, Think you should be able to rock up. On a positive the drivers were great, saying where to go to eat and drink. Don't think I'll stay again, but is somewhere you need to stay once. Sorry AHH&S need to work on a few things. 🆎
We arrived for check-in very late, but I really appreciate the kind professionalism that the staff had for us during check-in and to slot us in for dinner before the kitchen closed. The resort does have a nice restaurant, very tasty dinner. The bar service in the next room was nice and convenient, but was not open late, despite the bartender's word that they would continue serving after his shift. The room was very lovely, with a beautiful view of the mountains and lake on the patio deck. The Nespresso machine came in handy when making a nice morning coffee to have with that stunning view. If you plan on using their spa facilities, book in advance. We were not able to get anything on short notice.
Arrived and we were told we had been upgraded to a sea facing suite. It was outstanding. We had 2 days there before we reluctantly had to move on. The whole place oozes quality and the staff were brilliant. Had dinner in the restaurant which carried on the theme of excellence. Breakfast was delicious with every variety of food you could possibly want. Fabulous swimming pool etc and spa.certainly deserves it's 5* status. We would recommend to anybody, just go and enjoy the experience for yourself.
A welcoming/friendly staff to a modern, updated air conditioned room with an incredible view. There is no point of looking at a parking lot when you could enjoy the fabulous view of the lake. Our room was overlooking the ruined church and old cemetery and the beautiful lake/islands. Perfection! Very large room and bathroom with a huge separate shower with a rainshower head. The AC could even make the temp lower then the lowest setting, now when does that happen! Such a treat to have breakfast on our balcony. The facade was plain & modern, not so attractive, and the restaurant/bar are due for a redo but still comfortable. The condescending maitre'd at their LakeView Restaurant drove us away to the bar, which offered friendly, good service. The food was just average but Killarney with full of restaurants was very near. We enjoyed our 6 nights here and would surely return.
Really wonderful hotel with stunning views. The spa was beyond fabulous with amazing treatments. It was truly unique and the saunas and other amenities were so wonderful. A few small problems with our room but the staff were wonderful in changing our room quickly and were lovely about the process. Absolutely amazing breakfasts with wonderful staff and customer service. Cannot wait to return.
