My partner surprised me with a night away to Aghadoe Heights for my birthday. It was my first time to stay here. Wow is what springs to mind. On arrival we were greeted by a lovely gentleman who took our bags from us and brought them to our room for us. Our room was amazing. The bed was massive and so comfortable I'd have stayed there forever. We went to the pool in the evening and it was so lovely and peaceful with beautiful views of the lake and mountains. We didn't eat in the hotel but had a few drinks in the bar when we got back. Excellent service from the bar staff. Breakfast was fabulous and we had a table by the window looking out at the beautiful views. This hotel was so peaceful and children running around making noise. I cant wait to return and stay here again.

From the moment you pull up the view pulls you in. I could have just looked at that view all day long. Actually we sat in front of the window for dinner and could not get enough of the view. You feel relaxed, warm and welcomed by the staff. We were upgraded to a brand new wing - a suite but I feel even if we did not have this room with all its bells and whistles (Including a cell phone to take with you when you go out) we would of loved this property just as much. We ate in the bar lounge for 2 nights. The first night so we can dress casual and the second night because we were so comfortable and the food was stellar. We did not use the Spa as we were short on time but it looked amazing to me. The grounds are beautiful, the hotel is beautiful and Killarney was my favorite on our whole trip! As a bonus when we checked out we asked for a taxi to bring us to the train station and they drove us in the Mercedes SUV instead! I cannot wait to return here one day!

I cannot explain how incredible my stay was the staff the hotel the food and the views where outstanding .. it was worth every penny it was lovely & peaceful just what we wanted upgraded to a lake view room it's was exceptional ... I will definitely return again thanks so much for an incredible stay.

Absolutely loved this resort. The views from our room (Room 313) is ravishing. The rooms and suites were large, beautiful and well appointed. The hotel staff is super friendly! We are returning in August because our stay was too short.

When we check into our hotel, the desk clerk (Maureen) was pleasant. Very formal. You got the feeling she didn't think we were the right class to be staying at the hotel. She was just kind of up a dee. After getting our keys (we had 3 rooms made thru our tour company) we went up to the rooms. All the pictures we had seen were of the beautiful lake views. Well all our rooms where the "garden view". The garden view consists of a parking lot, dumpster, and power lines. I went directly back down to the desk before we anyone went into the rooms (we waited the hall) to change rooms. It was a mid week night. Maureen rudely said it was an uncharge for the lake view room (which there were plenty). I asked and she never gave the cost of the "upgrade". We decided not to worry about the view. We went to the bar and had great service and food from Emma and the rest of the staff. The desk clerk had told food in the bar ended exactly at 8. The staff took care of us and we had a great time. Our bill in the bar between the 3 couples and with dinner was well over $300 euros. But that was ok. We had a good time. When I went to check us out of the rooms, I mentioned I write reviews on trip advisor. It was the same desk clerk that check us in as well as the upgrade issue. She look at me and almost fell over herself to get to the manager to have him come out to greet us. Funny how a little thing like TripAdvisor can change the desk clerks point of view. The manager asked us about our stay, and we all told him it was nice. He asked us how we like our room, which I mentioned we had a lovely view of the dumpster. He apogolized but it was a little late. That's ok, it is very nice hotel. I would mention that if you are going to stay here, make sure you request a lake view and also plan on eating here as there is not anything in walking distance. The funny thing is when I went to check us out the next morning, a group of folks arrived about the time we were leaving. They were greeted with warm wet towels, and fruit smoothies.

We spent two nights here as part of a tour of "elegant Ireland." Elegant definitely decribes this hotel. My sister took advantage of the spa services, and really thought they were top notch. We had room service one night, and our room table faced a lovely giant window that overlooked beautiful grounds.

Spent a super relaxing weekend with friends in March. Staff were lovely. The spa was great (and good value). Views were surreal. Rooms are spacious. Highlight was dinner - fantastic - high end restaurant quality.

Beautiful rooms, gorgeous views and friendly staff. What more could you want. A special shout out to the super friendly hairdressers. Who did a wonderful job. The bed was very comfortable, great shower pressure and excellent breakfast.

The hotel itself is aesthetically gorgeous and the view is sublime .Something that sets a 5 star hotel above other hotels can usually be something as simple as the little details or the extra effort that is put in place to make you feel special, neither seemed present on our visit to Aghadoe. To some these view points might seem trivial but unless you have stayed in 5 star hotels then maybe they wont apply to you . We went to check in at 3.45 and our room was not ready so we were brought to the bar/ lounge area to wait. We were told the room would be ready in about 20 min and the receptionist would come back and get us then ,45 min later I had enough waiting so went to the reception to ask "was our room ready yet" the reply was "ohh I forgot about you ,i will check now" We went to our room and the view from the room over the lakes and onto the mountains was exceptional. We headed out to a family function and had a great night. We arouse on day two feeling peckish so decided to head to the Lounge for some lunch. I ordered a club sandwich from the menu and my wife just wanted a plain chicken sandwich(which wasn't on the menu) so the waitress said she would get the chef to make one up.Our sandwiches arrived and my wife commented to me that her chicken looked a bit pink .When she opened the sandwich she saw that the chicken was not even cooked through. We pointed this out to the waiter ,he apologised and comp my sandwich. My wife did not want to eat anything else. We returned to our room which was now made up and decided to have a coffee. The room had a little Nespresso machine so we had used the 4 pods the day before .When the room was made up they replaced the cups re stocked the milk and sugar but forgot to re stock the coffee pods, a small detail but an oversight that should not happen in a so called 5 star hotel.Other small details that you would not expect to see are frayed and grey looking towels and headboards covered in dust (pictures of which I have included ) Onto our final day and breakfast. We went down for breakfast and we were brought to our table where the waiter informed us that you can get something from the buffet which was continental style and he would take our order for the hot food along with our order for hot drinks .I went and got a juice and my hot breakfast arrived just as I sat down .Perfect for me as I did not pick up anything else from the buffet but not so much for the people sitting next to us .They had just sat down with their cereal when the hot full Irish was placed next to them to eat at the same time ,they just looked up with a bit of bemusement. I started into my breakfast and only after I was half way through did my tea and toast arrive ,again not much but its all about the little details when you book into a 5 star hotel .You expect 5 star service .You expect fluffy towels .You expect clean rooms , You expect attention to detail especially when you are paying decent money for the whole experience.

Stayed with my husband for a couple of days just before the Beast from the East hit. It was his Christmas gift to me and I must say he did well. I loved it. The hotel is beautiful and the staff are lovely. We dined in the restaurant on the first night, food was nothing short of amazing. Breakfast was equally as good. Room was e re stocked with everything when we got back from breakfast. Had booked afternoon tea which was lovely and the staff were great to have a chat with both in the bar and in the restaurant. Shuttle bus took us to the town the 2nd night, driver was lovely. Chocs on the pillows each night which I thought was a nice touch. Pool was lovely but the dressing room was freezing. Sadly didn't get to use the spa. Over all I thought it was a fab place to stay.... will be back!
