Visited with my granddaughter. Not much there for a 9 year old apart from pool. Breda in Restaurant and Lee in bar were superb. Rate extremely high for 1 senior and 1 child. Will find a hotel with better facilities for children and more reasonable when I take my next grandchild away for a little treat.
My impressions of Aghadoe Heights did not get of to a great start when my pre-arranged transfer from the concierge arrived over an hour late. I was told he had a puncture and the AA had to come out which unfortunately I do not believe could all happen within an hour! However with that out the way the hotel couldn't do more for me during my stay. My luggage had been lost and they took me to Tesco as it was a Sunday night and no where else would be open to find some suitable clothes to wear to the office on Monday morning. Breakfast at the hotel starts at 7:30 although the restaurant accommodates those who need to eat earlier. I only managed to grab breakfast one morning of my stay and the full Irish was delicious there is also a wide selection of freshly cooked hot choices and buffet style continental including yogurts, fruit, cereal, bread and cold cuts to choose from. I ate in both the lake room and the terrace bar. The lake room food was great and I would recommend the scallops and lamb includes fresh bread and an amuse bouche. The rooms are fairly large with ample sized beds. My particular room contained a shower over the bath. I briefly managed to enjoy the spa and pool facilities which were clean and to a high standard and I would recommend staying in this hotel if you enjoy pool/spa If I could suggest a few amends to the hotel it would be to stock a mini bar with light refreshments. Earlier breakfast times to accommodate business travellers and extend the pool opening times as 8pm is pretty early. Overall great stay and the staff cannot do enough to assist you. I will definitely return if work takes me this way again.
The hotel is placed in a gorgeous setting overlooking Lough Leane and Kilarney National Park. Stunning views and very convenient for touring Muckross House and Gardens. The staff was friendly and the food was good. The hotel provides live entertainment in the lounge, as well.
We stayed 2 nights at the Aghadoe Heights Hotel while touring Ireland. The hotel is a very nice modern hotel. We had a suite that was great ! Some rooms have a view overlooking the lake. Overall our stay was very nice. The staff was friendly and helpful. There was a large selection for breakfast and you could also order off a menu. WE had dinner there one night. My cod fish was very tasty. My wife ordered the beef which was dry and very overcooked. Many in our group ordered the beef and they all felt it was not eatable. Management in the restaurant could have been more responsive to the complaints about the beef. Other than that, our stay was great and the hotel is very nice. The hotel is just outside the town, so you would have to walk or take a taxi into town.
You will not be disappointed with this hotel. Stunning view of the lakes and mountains The staff are really friendly and will help you in every way. A atmosphere of luxury and sense of being cared for and cosseted. Attention to detail in every way Fantastic spa with thermal suite over looking the mountains. Could be paradise Ideal location for a relaxing holiday Beautiful bar with piano music This friendly hard working staff will make your stay a pleasure Michael and Wini
I stayed here back in May for two nights. I had a beautiful room on the 3rd floor with a balcony. I had amazing views over the lakes. The rooms are beautiful. The staff here are lovely and friendly, and would go out of their way to make your stay memerable. We ate in the bar on both nights. Again, the food and service was excellent. Their spa and staff are great too. If you want to get away from everything, and just sit back and relax, this is the place to go. I'm already planning a trip back this autumn!!!
I really enjoyed the views and beautiful views from the hotel room. Myself and my husband spent most of our first day in the spa as we were celebrating a special time together away from work and our children. The food was delicious morning and night either in the bar or restaurant. The evening music was relaxing to listen to. The staff were kind, friendly and very helpful. I plan on returning again.
We stayed in room 303 for 2 nights .It was a king lakeside view with a balcony. The hotel is modern in design and some of the features look Scandinavian. Our room was recently redone. It was modern and tasteful. My only complaint was the shower is a circular tube and is quite tight, and I am not a big guy. The service was the best we had in Ireland. We had dinner in the main restaurant, lounge and breakfast daily. The food was pleasant and enjoyable. I will say that if you are not facing the lake, the rooms overlook the parking lot. It was our favorite stay in the country.
Long overdue review of an excellent stay Aghadoe. Rooms were modern and clean, and the views of the lake were breathtaking. Champagne on the terrace and spa services provided the ultimate relaxation. We found the staff to be very friendly. They made several recommendations for walks by the hotel. The surrounding area was full of charming pastoral landscapes. Also, a walk down the road is Killeen House, where we had a great dinner one night. It was the perfect end to our trip and we nixed the Ring of Kerry just to spend more time relaxing here. (We had done extensive research before booking. We had friends who had stayed at The Europe and experienced a major problem with flies and lack of air conditioning the previous summer. On the other hand, the hotels "in town" by the shops are rather boring unless the only objective is to access the park.)
We spent a night at the Agahadoe last weekend and had a very pleasant stay there. While the exterior and lobby area of the hotel are very underwhelming, our beautiful room made up for it. The room was huge with a fabulous sitting room area looking out over the lakes. The staff were very helpful and attentive and we were lucky enough to have our room available when we arrived(well before our check-in time). The weather was beautiful so we were able to sit out on the balcony at the bar area and have an afternoon drink. Disappointing they didn't have any proper gin glasses though and we were served gin in wine glasses! The following morning we ordered breakfast to the room which was very nice, however the breakfast tray was missing a few items such as orange juice and tomato ketchup. We had to call down twice to get these sent up. When the orange juice did arrive it was just out of a carton and not fresh juice which you would expect from a five star hotel. They are just minor things and not deal breakers in any way for us but normally when staying in a five star resort you would expect attention to detail to be of the highest order. Overall as I said, we really enjoyed our stay there and look forward to returning at some point!
