Great place and close to airport, as long as you don’t want to venture outside. Don’t really need to, place has all you need for a quick pre or post flight stay over.
I have stayed at this location many times. I enjoy the locally owned lodge type setting vs. "hotel". They are extremely organized with transfers to and from the airport. They look out for your safety. In my case, I arrived late. Arriving as a solo traveler they changed their normal pick up site to to pick me up closer to the main doors. They really look out and accommodate for their clients. I have stayed here.
Good communication with staff upon arrival in Johannesberg regarding pickup location. Hotel is located very close to JNB, which is why I picked it vs the Mega Hotels acutally on the airport property. Clean, comfortable, staff delightful, rooms very nice, uber or the lodge staff will get you to and from where you want to go. The evening meal is prepared cafeteria style and was tasty both nights we took advantage of it. Ina and the staff are very helpful. Ina went out of her way to assist as with a parking permit we'd indavertantly brought with us from our stay in Cape Town. She handled sending it back to the owners. We walked during the day to a local grocery store to get some road food and felt safe. At night, I would be careful as the area is not well lit, there were no specified cross walks that I could see. I would highly recommend Sunrock as a handy "in and out of Johannesberg airport", or if you were working in the local area.
I have stayed at Sunrock several times. It is an oasis in the midst of a busy part of Joburg. The service is as great as I have received at any other hotel around the world. There is no other place I will stay when visiting Joburg.
Real jewel. Victor's staff is excellent. Jackie the mgr was delightful. Solomon made unbelievable food for great price. Will return.

Owners and staff were fabulous! It was a perfect destination with it’s lovely rooms, fantastic breakfast which was included, refreshing pool and exercise facility. They offer spa services on site and we enjoyed relaxing massages before and after our long flights! Did I mention that they had a great Harley Davidson themed bar? Perfect! We would highly recommend Sun Rock Guesthouse!
Perfect place close to the airport for an overnight. The breakfast was beautiful. The staff were very helpful and friendly. I had arranged for them to pick me up but I missed the driver's sign and ended up taking a quick taxi there. Their shuttle ran regularly for the return to the airport. I will always use this as my stopover going forward.
Hidden gem near the airport. I have stayed at Sunrock on a couple of different occasions. I highly recommend it. I feel it is an amazing value for the money spent. Also, the bar is superb and the massages are terrific. Even the small details of indoor and outdoor fires at night provide a wonderful atmosphere. This is my "go to" hotel for trips to Joburg.
I enjoyed my stay at Sunrock. Easy access to the airport and very nice public facilities. The room I stayed in was very basic. However, the bed was comfortable and it had everything one could need. It felt a little cramped and small. However, for the price and location, I'm very pleased. The public areas of the property are great! I loved the bar, the fire pit, and the dining area. Plus the service was fabulous. Don't hesitate to book with them.
Enjoyed our stay, everything was great. The shower did however make some wild noises.
I was looking for an inexpensive place for a one night stay close to the Johannesburg airport so I booked at this guesthouse because of the reviews and was glad it was just an overnight stay. The hotel's location seem to be in a rough area - I probably would not go walking around the neighborhood. The check-in desk area was okay which have a lovely view of the inviting pool area. This and the tasty free breakfast were the most appealing features of this place. Entering a dated room via a sliding glass patio door from a gravel parking were downers for me so I would have gladly paid a little more to get a more satisfying experience. As they say, you get what you pay for.
Great alternative to stuffy airport hotels. Beautiful calm property with great space to spread out and relax. Was a great location to regroup before air travel after a long road trip in SA.
