Nothing can beat Whalers Cove. Right on the ocean, crashing surf, spectacular pool, beautiful sunrise and sunset views. We like the bottom floor units, with lanais “sitting in the landscape”, big overhang, so not as much sun as upper floor units. We have stayed in Poipu Kai Regency, nice unit, but much prefer our favorite unit at Whalers Cove, when it is available...
We love Kauai for it’s natural beauty and tropical flora and fauna. This is our third vacation at Whaler’s Cove. We stayed in Unit 130 for three weeks this year and three weeks last year. Our second floor lanai faces the ocean and is a major feature. About 500 parrots visit the palm trees right outside our unit at sunrise and sunset for about 20 minutes. We enjoyed the visits even though we are aware that feral parrots have no natural predators on Kauai and are growing in numbers exponentially. They are now eating crops and are generally considered pests. The legislators are tying to figure out how to handle the problem. Last year, and again, this year the people in the unit next to us were out on their lanais shooting parrots with a pellet rifle and celebrating kills. This was a cocktail hour ritual. We complained to managment and management called the neighbors and asked them to stop, but they were back at it the next evening and the next. We found the whole scene obnoxious. Last year, there were people in two units doing the shooting. On top of that, kids with searchlights from the adjacent property were using searchlights and pellet guns to kill parrots. So, people were shooting from our left to parrots at eye level in front of us and to our right. And, kids were shooting up from the right to our left. We were in a crossfire if we went out on our lanai. We asked them to stop and they ran away. In the morning I could see dead parrots on the roof of the adjacent property. We expected that complaining to management last year would have put an end to this nonsense, but it didn’t. Managment needs more authority over the behavior of Whaler’s Cove tenants. I know management has no authority with the adjacent property because that’s not Whaler’s Cove, but it would be worth talking to the owners and finding a way to cease and desist. As much as we love Kauai and Unit 130 at Whaler’s Cove, we won’t return without a money-back guarantee that Whaler’s Cove will be weapon free. Nor will we stay anywhere else on Kauai without a similar money-back guarantee. These units are value priced at the top tier. We aren’t going to vacation in a shooting gallery again.
We stayed for 5 nights. First time in Kauai. Perfect location, every condo has a view of some sort. We had an ocean view as well as cove which was perfect to watch the divers and snorkelers as well as the ocean. We slept to the sound of the waves every night. No need for air conditioning as there are constant breezes. Highly recommend this place for peace and quiet!
Stayed at Whalers Cove in October . Was on my bucket list if I ever returned to Kauai . Staff is great and the grounds are gorgeous and well maintained .Pool is beautiful and in a very relaxing spot . Every sunrise and sunset memorable from condo 124 . Beautiful and spacious . Whalers Cove is quiet and secluded with it's own little cove to go snorkeling or just view turtles basking in the sun . I'm already dreaming of another trip to Kauai and staying at Whalers Cove . Shout out to Marianne at the front desk .
We checked in at this quaint Kauai resort. Each condo is privately owned and makes it seem a little more like home. Ever day sunrise and sunset is a happening as you can see all the onlookers from other areas honing in on Whalers Cove. You can sit on your deck or watch from the plush cool grass right outside your condo overlooking the ocean. The staff at the reception area is attentive and available. Every day when we came home from hiking, biking or taking a helicopter ride , it was an oasis that you could not wait to get back to.
Whaler's Cove is a wonderful destination for families especially with young children. We brought our entire family including our 21 month old granddaughter. The condos are lovely and we eat our meals outside on our veranda by the ocean. The pool is clean and has a hot tub. We highly recommend the Whaler's Cove. It's close to all the baby beaches.
My wife and I vacationed in Kauai in August and stayed for a portion of our trip at Whalers Cove. What a find and fabulous resort on the ocean with wonderful view balconies. Our room was exceptionally nice and well appointed with a complete kitchen, and the resort staff was awesome. There was a lovely beach next door called Baby Beach and an outstanding restaurant called Beach House Restaurant easily walked to. Also nearby was the National Tropical Botanical Garden, a must see. If you have a rental car another must see is Waimea Canyon State Park. We will definitely be going back for another visit to Whalers Cove Resort!
Where do I start? How about being blown away by the location, our condo and the view from the condo? We were greeted by a gracious, cheerful, attentive staff. From this lovely first impression, things only got better. The check in process was quick; it took around ten minutes from exiting our car to entering our condo which, after 18 hours of flying and airport tedium, was very appreciated. The condo? When one enters their seaside condo for the first time, they usually drop their bags at the entrance and make a beeline for the window to throw open the curtains to take in the view. In our case, we were about to do just that, but we were really so taken back by how truly beautiful and spacious our condo was that we slowly toured it on our way to check out the view. The condo became a sort of lovely journey to the pièce de résistance. Spacious, spotless, well equipped, but most importantly so very well designed and laid out. Absolutely gorgeous. And the view? An orchid lined patio with a plumeria tree in bloom to the side, a stone stairway leading to a beautiful pool, and then beyond that waves lapping in over endless shores, all under a nearly spotless blue sky. The background music for all of this was the serenity of waves washing on the shore and the chirping of the birds in the gardens. THIS is where our bodies finally entered vacation mood. Whalers` Cove`s location is more than sufficiently secluded, but close to a beach where you can swim, and two minutes by car (or 15 minutes walking) from a really nice outdoor shopping area with shops, restaurants, and a supermarket. It`s also about 5 to 10 minutes by car from various other shopping areas and restaurants.
My husband and I have been coming to Kauai since 1985 and have stayed in a variety of properties - usually condos. I have always admired the Whalers Cove location but until this year, have never booked. We were guided to our condo unit location by the manager and were very pleased. #110 is off to the right side of the property on the property boundary and for us, proved to be very quiet. It doesn't have a direct straight-ahead view of the ocean but we were able to sit on our lanai and view a large portion of blue ocean framed by the palm trees to our left. We appreciated the sun-dappled shade on the lanai and had the benefit of a good cross-ventilation breeze. The layout of the unit has generously proportioned rooms and is appropriate for two couples. The pool and spa was just across the lawn from the unit and has stellar views of the coastline which add to the experience of being in Hawaii. We loved being close to the upscale Kukui'ula Shopping Center with the restaurants, shops and Farmer's Market (once a week). It was also fun to hang over the nearby Koloa landing area and watch the honu paddle around the water. This was a good choice for us.
