nice quiet hotel close to everything. very friendly staff easy to find.

Our room had a very bad odor , it was kind of dirty and they do not clean your bedroom everyday

Stayed at the hotel 1 week. we chose this hotel because we could get a 1 bedroom suite with a kitchenette. That worked out fine for us. The buildings are older and the rooms a bit worn, but acceptable. The location worked well also as the Wailua Golf course was just 10 minutes away. Foodland and Longs were just a few minutes walk. The weather was less than ideal, so we did not spend much time at the beaches. We did expect to have a view of the ocean, but there is a high plywood fence across the street blocking the view of the water.

Loved the location. Friendly staff and comfortable rooms and beds. Some parts of room were nicely updated but some weren't. Kitchen was lacking some amenities. I would probably stay there again if I return to Kauai.

The hotel was nice. We only stayed one night. Had enough room for a family of 5 but it would be snug to stay here for a week. My only complaint was that there was hair all over the bathroom floor, kind of grossed me out but I may be more picky than others. Other than that its a reasonably priced, clean(with the exception of the hair) older hotel. Would probably stay here again.

The hotel was nice. Didn't like the sofabed though. Made me a bit itchy maybe because to the texture but other than that it was a good stay and the hotel was good

Very good for family. If you take enough cooking materials, then you no need to go for hotel to eat. You can say guest home instead of hotel, because it has all Amenities of home. Not suitable for honeymoon couples or <3 persons because its very big and it has 2 beds. No drinking water available. So, buy/take enough water.

We only stayed for one night but were glad of that for the most part. Very outdated and the view was not great. Overall it would have been alright if the price was more reasonable for what you were getting in a hotel, but I realize it is Hawaii. Probably wouldn't stay here again.

Me, wife and daughter ... no major issues and for the money ... can't beat it.

Clean hotel; more like mini apartment with full kitchen. Location was great! Pretty much center of island which allows you to go explore north or south of island. Shopping center across the way was perfect for food and and last minute items forgotten. "Ocean view" was not really a view as it was quite far off in the distance; wouldn't pay for that extra. King bed was not available at time of check in, so request ahead of time. Pool and jacuzzi were nice. Complex located within walking distance to Marriott Courtyard

Enjoyed our stay here very much! When we got in we were so comfortable in the room we decided to spend our first night relaxing in the room! We just loved the layout, like a little apartment for an excellent price!

My wife and I spent a week at Plantation Hale. The beach-not for swimming, is a short walk . The ocean can be seen from the upper level. I would recommend the ocean side, to avoid the noise from the road. Though not fancy, well kept. We really appreciated having a kitchen with pans and utensils. Also a bbq outside, near the pool which we used a few times. There is a very good high end restaurant just across the street. Also, other restaurants, supermarket and shops very close. Swimming/boarding beaches are a short drive away. The staff is friendly and helpful. No smoking, so had to walk across the street and gather with other neighbors. We didn't spent a lot of time indoors and found it was a central location for seeing all the island. A nice municipal golf course is just 10 minutes drive away. We would stay here again.

Time-Share type condo. Well located, well equipped and maintained. Moderately priced. Approximates the experience of living full-time at the facility. Courteous, helpful staff. No over-the-top amenities or services. Just clean, functional living quarters from which to enjoy Kauai. I will return!

The Plantation Hale is centrally located which made it easy for us to get to any of the attractions we wished to visit. The staff way very accomodating and the upgrade to a king with an ocean view was spectacular.

We spent 4 nights at this hotel. The rooms were large suites, and it was nice to have a kitchen. However, our first room was right next to the busy road that everyone on the island uses. Plus, all night they were doing road construction right outside our room. When we told the front desk about the road noise the next morning, they offered several other rooms for us to look at. We took them up on a second floor room that had a better view, so we were happy. We were packing up our stuff to move when the front desk called and told us they were going to charge is $10/night extra because the room was a higher class. I was pretty annoyed that they hadn't told is this until we moved, but we agreed to pay. Make sure you get a room that's not next to the highway, otherwise you won't be able to enjoy sitting on the porch outside. We were also annoyed that the pool/hot tub closest to our room was closed during our entire stay. Note that the hotel doesn't have a restaurant of even a bar, and the pools are small. We found out at the end of our stay that we could've used the pool of the hotel right next door (Kauai Coast Resort), and that they had a nice bar, and a way nicer pool. Also, note that the beach in front of the hotel (across a field) is too rocky to swim at, although this is true for many hotels in Kapaa. If you are choosing between the Plantation Hale and a hotel that's a bit pricier, I suggest spending the extra money to upgrade. This hotel is a bit run down, they nickel and dime on lots of stuff, and it has very few amenities.

The hotel is centrally located. Close to shops, beaches and sights. Grounds are classic Hawaiian. Rooms are small, a bit out dated, but slept our family of five comfortable. Staff is awesome. Kitchen could use more utensils, pots and pans, but worked fine for us. You DO have to drive to swimming beaches, but not too far. LOVED having fresh beach/pool towels each day. We had a great time!

Though this was rated fairly on this website, there are several reviews all over the web that made this place out to be better than it was. Outdated, on a busy, BUSY road, and the only hotel in this clustered hotel location that was not right on the beach. Room service never did our dishes and barely picked up our rooms. Kapa'a is a perfectly central location in Kauai, but I would not stay at this hotel again.

We are back for a second time in one week. This place is great. Kitchenette is well-equiped and cooking here is cheaper and healthier than eating out. That alone saves us a lot of money! Clean grounds, clean rooms, comfy beds, good internet... everything here is perfect. Staff is friendly and attentive.

Our stay at the Plantation Hale was pleasant. Unfortunately the non-smoking unit smelled strongly of Cigarette smoke from years gone by. Staff was very friendly. We had a couple maintenance issues, a clogged kitchen sink and broken slider mechanism for the living room glass door, maintenance was promt and friendly. Having a kitchen and an in living room sofa sleeper for the grandparents were nice features. Parking was never an issue. I do wish the "resort fee" would be rolled into the initial price. This $12 a day mandatory fee is supposed to give you extra benefits. Not sure what exactly we got for our extra $12 a day that we wouldn't get at another Hotel. Still even with the $12 a day added in the total was still a great value. They were kind enough to supply us with a crib for my infant son at no extra charge. We stayed there 2 weeks, and twice had to ask if maid service had missed us (apparently they had) some one was in our room within 20 minutes both times. The complex was neatly maintained/groomed and the grounds were quiet at night, aside from the highway noise. We loved the location.
