Not enough time spent on or around the grounds to give a review.

Excellent staff, one of the best hotels in the vicinity. Love the ocean front restaurant and the live music in the evenings

It's a nice hotel the staff are friendly check in is super easy they explain everything. The rooms are clean for the most part. The beds are very Uncomfortable My husband and myself wernt able to get a good nights rest. One of the days the water was cold & a few of the days the wifi was out ( when I notified the staff after my shower was freezing they said they were working on it) . It was a pretty good experience all around.

To escape choking forest fire smoke, I booked a trip to Kauai from Spokane 18 hours before my departure time. Within about 26 hours of booking, I was in Kauai. I chose Kauai Shores because I wanted a central location, and none is better than Wailua as it allows easiest access to every area of the island (since the main Kauai road doesn't wrap all the way around the island). And, as it's just south of Kapa'a, it allows using the Kapa'a Bypass Road (Hwy 5600), the entrance to which is next to the Kaui Shores Hotel, and thus bypasses any rush hour traffic in Kapa'a. I was wildly lucky in getting room 105 (in the Lei building) at the Kauai Shores, which is the fourth best room in the whole hotel. Room 102 is the best, as it has a patio on the grass and is closest to the beach (50 steps). Room 101 is the second best, as it's the same distance from the beach (50 steps), but doesn't have the patio on the grass. Room 104 is the third best, as it has a patio on the grass but isn't quite as close to the beach (about 55 steps). Room 103 is the same distance to the beach as 104 (about 55 steps), but doesn't have the patio on the grass. Finally, room 105 is about 56 steps from the sand but lacks the patio on the grass. The patios in rooms 101, 103, and 105 are instead in a little alley way with a dirt road. The nearby hotels (such as the Islander on the Beach) all have grass rather than real beach).

Room stunk like smoke and the office did nothing about it. I have severe allergies to smoke, so it made it difficult to breathe and sleep. The air conditioner was rattling the entire night. Parking spots are super tight and limited; you'll struggle to park if you get there past 8pm. Right on the beach. The grounds and main facilities are clean and nice.

Our stay here was great, the staff was nice, Right on the water, restaurant and bar right on the sand, lawn games, free bikes for use, 2 pools, one hot tub, lounge chairs poolside or beachside. Super convenient location in Kapa'a, close to the airport, and an awesome bike path that leads you down the coastline. Gas station, grocery store, restaurants are all walkable distances away. Everything was perfect with this hotel except our lanai. Out of all the buildings making up this hotel there is one that faces the backside at the other hotel, this is where our room was. We definitely did not have a garden mountain view like listed, they were doing some loud construction work on a hangar right outside our room the first day we arrived and the work room for staff or laundry area was right outside our balcony, so it made it hard to relax outside on our balcony. I would have paid a little more to upgrade to a better view if I had known. We honestly spent most time out of the room so this wasn't a deal breaker just now we know for next time. Overall though great place to stay just ask for an ocean or pool view!!'

We camped and hoteled in a variety of locations in Kauai, and this was the best value we found for hotels. We stayed in cheaper but i do not recommend it. They just finished a renovation of the property and rooms, and while you can tell that it probably wasn't much before, it is now comfortable, clean, and modern, however still not extravagant or top of the line. More like the nice places we stayed at in Thailand. The 'toes in the sand' lava lava bar and restaurant looked cool and the pools looked nice but we just used the room and the beach and then were off exploring. The waves were consistently a little harsh (late July early August) but the brave could play in the water if close to shore. Then there are countless beaches near by.I read reviews about the tight parking, and yes the spots are narrow, but this seemed normal on the island more or less. Not a detractor for us. Kapa'a is a great area to hub out of for day trips either north or south. The highway gets congested through this area with everyone heading north or south, but it doesn't take too long to move through. Pono market is near by and one of the best places on earth :) if you are a local market and coffee eating kind of person. Restaurants and stores seemed to close relatively early so keep that in mind if making long day trips. Safeway and starbucks really close as well as even better local spots like local coffee, el rey del mar, Waipouli Deli etc Hotel staff also worked well with us on res adjustments

I really like it the location, close to shopping center, good restaurants around...

Great location right on the beach, very hip and modern hotel. Very clean and great restaurant right on the beach.

Pros On the beach Hot tub Pools Free yoga Free bikes Clean room Comfortable beds Beach towel sevice Great hike at Sleeping Giant less than a mile away Cons Tub and toilet would run water No microwave Ocean view rooms were the furthest from the ocean due to the horseshoe shape. So not worth it. Hot tub jet switch was locked so we couldn't turn it on Beach wasnt very swimmable

nice, good location good value for price, nice beach, helpful staff

All you need and priced right. A must book. Hotel, restaurant, bar, pools, beach...

Room was comfortable. Restaurant was located on the beach. It was mahvelous. Just mahvelous!

We liked this hotel for many reasons. Loved the retro contemporary look plus location to everything is very good. Rooms were small but well decorated and clean. The grounds were well taken care of and the on site restaurant Lava Lava is excellent and fun. It's close to shopping and the drives to sights are very accessible. Easy drives. The island is gorgeous. The onsite beach is excellent with swimming and snorkeling. Beautiful setting!

This is an older hotel that has been refurbished. This is not a high end hotel. Very comfortable room, very clean. The hotel is a nice location for traveling around to see the other parts of the island, close to the airport (15 minutes or so) The beach, and bar/restaurant area has a great vibe. The beach isn't the best location for swimming, but the surroundings are beautiful and the beach is great. The employees are very welcoming and friendly. Had a great experience there.

No screen door. No shower curtain. Just sprayed with bug spray

The room had stains on the carpet & bedding. On the day I checked out, I figured I had until noon to check out. At 8:00 in the morning, the maid knocked on the door & then opened it. I didn't even have time to get up from the chair & luckily I was dressed! She asked if I was leaving & I said not yet (since I had a later flight). Then she said you're leaving by 11:00 right. I couldn't believe how rude she was. I told her check out was at noon & I shut the door. This hotel was disgusting with horrible staff!! I would not recommend this place!!

Loved this place. So relaxing and great bag for your buck. Would definitely stay again on my next trek to Kauai.

The hotel was older and needed updates but the room was very clean. The staff was so nice and helpful but the bar on the property brought in a lot of unwanted noise and left drunk people wandering around the hotel all hours of the night, also bar goers were using the hotel parking which made it hard to find a spot to park.

Parking stalls too small and inconvenient....everything else was great
