Aston Islander on the Beach

Recent guest reviews

Islander on the Beach is a quaint, quiet beachfront property. It is nicely landscaped and within walking distance of a couple of good restaurants on either side. The front desk was very accommodating when my husband requested a specific floor and location at the time of check in.

Nice location of this hotel. $20.00 add on fee is crazy for what you get and The beach is littered with trash and tree limbs but still usable. Staff was great and the Roosters were a great treat for early morning alarms!

Our room open to the beach and we really enjoyed our stay there. Room was very clean and the staff was very friendly.

Nice aging hotel. On the beach with a great view. I thought the $20/day resort fee was a little much, and it was a way to try and hide the true cost of the room. Parking was a problem. It also was a little difficult to find when arriving after dark.

right on the beach. great location. near coconut marketplace. shops, restaurants . Well manicured grounds .

We booked here for a couple of nights only, extending our stay. We were already here for 10 days at timeshare condo with family. Beachfront property. Place is well maintained, surroundings clean and garden well kept. Air conditioner strong, quiet hum. Bed firm in a spacious room, with small refrigerator, sink, microwave, dishes and utensils. No elevators, so you have to drag your luggage up to rooms. There's a fantastic restaurant around the corner, Hukilau Lanai, only 1 minute walk away. Resort has a $20 per night fee " resort fee " .... a way to pay for extras like coffee or juice, internet and airport shuttle, etc. etc. You decide.

Great view of the ocean from the hotel. Room was not as clean as I would like. We didn't get room make ups for two days. Staff was late and we were back to our room so they didn't clean, We had to ask for clean towels

We had a great experience at the Aston "Islander" hotel! We requested last minute accommodation changes the night before, they noted it but we were not promised it would be available. Arriving they gave us what we requested and more. Our flight arrived 3 hours before check-in at 3 pm, room was ready when we got to the hotel, they allowed us to check-in early (with an infant it was a major plus). Also, a crib was provided free of charge, and got to relax in our very clean room without any wait time. They kindly provided us with free non-alcoholic lemonade tickets at their cabana bar along side the pool, and a movie/video game rental card for their onsite free rental kiosk. Rentals are unlimited. Grills available by pool area. Centrally located. They are located behind the Coconut Market place, where you'll find a few souvenir and Hawaiian clothing stores including a ABC store. They also hold free Hula dance shows by students at the Coconut Market place's cultural center (you can take classes there), shows are on Sat and Tue (1pm), as well as Wed's (5pm). You can also find a Farmers market there on different days of the week closing at 1pm. Next door to the hotel you will fill find a Fishmarket, a gear rental store which offers kayak and snorkel tours and pearl store. The Islander is also walking distance to a Longs Drugs and other stores just a block away from the hotel. If you like to stay away from the resortzy areas and prefer local area, Wailua & Islander is where to stay!

Very clean and comfortable! Would recommend to all my friends.

Great place to stay but the beach was very dirty .

The hotel is smaller which is LOVELY! Staff are personable and always greet me warmly and are very helpful. Since I'm traveling alone this is especially nice. The Islander on the Beach is central, right on the water, laid back - everything I need for a vacation. Even when I was inside working I could look out at flowers, garden, pool, ocean. What's not to like?

We were on our 25th wedding anniversary trip. Location of hotel was great. The room was ok it could have has a couch instead of second bed. Paying $18 a day for amenities is alot when you can't get your coffee until after 7:30 then it is limited. WiFi was very spotty and room keys did not work well.

Guest room a little moldy smelling, looked clean though

Very comfortable hotel with friendly / helpful staff. Location worked out well - not far from Lihue airport and about equally distant between Waimea Canyon and North Coast Beaches. Nice little bar by the pool.

We had to make a last minute reservation and it worked very well for us. The room was clean and the hotel was well maintained.

Staff was super friendly, hotel was clean and nice!

The hotel was very clean, and the staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel is close to the Marketplace and eateries. We will definitely stay here again!

Want to sit on a beach with no one around and watch turtles play in the surf? Do you like a local bar by a pool with nice people surrounding you? Like to hear the ocean all night long as a background noise? If this sounds good to you then book here! If u want 200 people by the pool, a huge lobby, and lots of people on the beach? Then don't book here. We loved every minute here!

The Aston Islander on the Beach was a great hotel. The staff upon arrival was very friendly and the rooms were very spacious and clean. It was a great location and I would recommend this hotel as a great deal!!
