we were welcomed by a very rude and unpolite staff. disappointing. we stayed before and requested already for the same kind of room. altough it was confirmed the room was not available. disappointing. in return they offered an upgrade to a very spacious suite room. nice. on the other hand that roon was located close to the streets so the noice and loud live music from the streets comes into the room (till 23h00). that is really bad when one wants to go to bed early. breakfast is ok. the garden on the other side is a real treat and a plus to the hotel. the fact that the staff is unwelcoming and the fact that one can really "join" the live music from the bar next door (in the hotelroom) made it our last stay in this hotel.
A fantastic hotel that allows you to relax and re-energise from the hustle and bustle of thamel streets. Upon entering you are greeted in a friendly way by the guards and the gardens of the hotel are very peaceful. Its like coming home.
I have just one word to describe my experience at the Kathmandu Guest House- brilliant! The place is full of warm people and has its own pace! If you are their to just sit back and relax- it's the perfect getaway.. Navin, the manager is extremely helpful and kind. The property is beautiful with fresh fruits and flowers growing all around in the garden. It's the most centrally located place surrounded by clubs and a busy market.. you can spend your evening sitting in your quiet hotel listening to the Bryan Adams music being played around somewhere in the background at another club! They also have folk artists performing for you! All in all - just a perfect getaway. Safe and full of warm, helpful people! The only recommendation for them is to have a pool soon!
Having stayed at KGH before I was looking forward to my second stay. However, the receptionist was exceptionally rude and disinterested when I checked in. He was grumpy and didn't seem welcoming at all. The bell boy did not take us to our room as we were carrying our own bags so chose to just point at the buildings we were in which took us a while to find the room in. Pretty lazy. When we got to our standard room we found the toilet soiled and the room slightly tired. It was very different to our deluxe room we had had before. This standard triple room was also far more expensive than our deluxe room we had had previously. Do make sure to book through Booking.com or Last Minute to give you the best deals!
A beautiful gem on busy street of Thamel, superb location but completely quiet within the premise. Leisurely you can spend 3 - 4 days here. Beautiful garden, pool, courteous staffs everything will satisfy you utmost!
Our three nights at KGH were comfortable, quiet, and very relaxing! Our room was very clean and quiet and very spacious. We appreciated our view of the spectacular garden. The staff is professional, accommodating and very kind and prompt to serve every request and need. The breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of food, fresh fruit and plenty of tasty coffee and tea. KGH is a great value and a peaceful retreat from the streets of Kathmandu. Thanks to Nabin and his staff for their thoughtful and attentive care.
Very nicely manage old but very good maintain hotel. Located in main market area of Tharmel. Rooms are large and clean, helpful staff and tasty food. You can enjoy music in evening with your dinner. Beautiful Garden and mostly foreigners stay in this local.
I have visited Nepal several times and the Kathmandu Guest House is an an absolutely beautiful place to stay! The gardens are stunning and a great place to relax away from the hectic culture of Thamel. If there are any issues, the staff cannot do enough to make sure you have a pleasant stay - Nabin (manager) really goes the extra mile to ensure that we have a great experience every year and waiters such as Gakul always make us feel welcome. I would highly recommend staying here during your visit, it is a home away from home to me!
This oasis in the middle of bustling Thamel is a wonderful respite amongst overwhelming Katmandu. The garden makes it hard to believe you are in the capital and the staff is first class. You will not be sorry if you decide to stay here.
If you are looking for a quiet place to retreat to when visiting Kathmandu look no farther than this hotel. Once you walk through the gates you are surrounded by peace and quiet and a nice break from the frenetic pace of Kathmandu. The staff is first rate and can take care of all of your needs. The rooms are clean and well sized and in excellent condition. The hotel breakfast is excellent and a great way to start your day. The staff can help you set up any kind of tour or services you need for your visit. An excellent hotel in every way.
