Altough the room itself was quite spacey and acceptable, the location of the room next to the staircase appeared to be quite noisy. The large garden is an oasis in the busy city of Kathmandu. Simple but tasteful breackfast.
Lovely peaceful property. An oasis in the chaos of Katmandu. The air conditioning in my room was not working but I felt safe and thus relaxed. I would recommend this guest house and stay there again (after checking on the AC).
Beautiful hotel, not very far from the airport.I can strongly recommend this hotel, very good value for the money. it is my first visit ! The Garden makes the hotel really wonderful and the live Musical performance in the evenings and is very captivating. The staff here was very polite and helpful. The travel desk Suraj is quite helpful and have knowledge of all the sights to visit. Lobby boy Binod he still remember my husband it really makes happy it was just his second visit to the guest house. you can sit in the balcony and enjoy the View, they provide great wine. This is my best hotel recommendation for Kathmandu so far.
So strange as its hectic on the streets and walking down the drive to the hotel is like being in another town - hard to believe the noise and chaos is just at the end of the drive. Nice gardens and settings. Our room was very small and basic so be careful what you have booked, it appears some rooms have aircon and some don't so again check your booking. Room was cleaned and made every day and breakfast was nice, best part for us was the omlette station. Head to Sams bar or Shisha bar as they are practically at the hotel entrance. Really central location for Thamel. Tip: we didn't pre book a Kathmandu tour, we were advised to ask a taxi if we can have them for the day to take us to all the sights so we did and this saved us a lot of money!! And taxis are readily available from outside the hotel 👍🏽
Before my stay at KGH I had spent aprox. 2 months around the Thamel area volunteering and felt I knew the area well. I passed the garden entrance to KGH many times while out and about (very central, convenient location) and was impressed by the oasis that lay behind the gates- beautiful construction, peaceful garden, set back from the business of Thamel. When my family came to visit I wanted to be sure we were comfortable and relaxed, away from the noise and crowds of the city. KGH was above and beyond what I had hoped for and was very reasonably priced! I wouldn't stay anywhere else!
My two friends and I stayed in KGH last month, and we loved every minute of our stay. The hotel is beautiful (we had deluxe rooms), clean, and the architecture is elegant and feels historic. Most of all we were impressed by the lovely garden which is a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of Thamel. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, and Nabin, the manager, went out of his way to make our stay extra pleasant. I would definitely go there again.
Such a wonderful, serene place to stay with the bustling, busy streets of Thames just at the end of the long driveway. Beautiful gardens to relax in, great food and coffee. Nothing was too much trouble for the friendly staff. A sense of history to the place with many famous past guests but definitely a modern place to stay with many up to date conveniences. Would recommend to any traveller to Kathmandu.
Definitely a place where I'd come back; where you find air to breath and space to relax & enjoy in a dusty & hustling city. I love the quiet garden with many sunchairs & big sitting cushions, where you also can do some yoga if wished. I had a deluxe room booked & it's really spacious & fulfilled my expectations. Nice toiletries provided, very clean. The staff is the heart of this place, very friendly, attentive & caring. Got some vegan pancakes for breakfast on my demand, which I appreciated a lot.
Located in Thamel, but away from the bustling streets. Beautiful gardens. Genuinely friendly staff especially Roshani. We booked the bigger room which were clean and spacious overlooking the gardens. Breakfast was included and had quite good food options. They had local musicians play in the gardens in the evening, quite enjoyable. We stayed there 4 nights and would stay here again in we return to Ktm.
