We stayed here the last few days of our trip to Nepal. The courtyard is beautiful and so inviting, the staff friendly, however, the rooms were less than desirable. Although the showers were hot and the beds were clean, the towels were dingy and tattered. Wifi was spotty at best. It met our needs, but we were ready to check out.

My friend and I recently stayed at the KGH in late March and early April. We were trekking the Annapurna Circuit in between and this was our before and after stop. The hotel is wonderful - the staff is top notch - polite, courteous, and so helpful in meeting all of our needs. The only area that we had an issue with was the wi-fi. The connection is horrible to say the least. I know this may be / could be the norm in Kathmandu but we had much better connections while trekking and also in some restaurants. We enjoyed most everything about the hotel. Had some problems with hot water the first day and couldn't take a shower without being scalded and it needed at least four - five people to fix it. Restaurant is good - breakfast and bar area also are nice.

A lot of things have been written about Kathmandu but this Place truly is an Oasis amidst the Dustbowl it is. Wonderful Garden to hang, very decent Kitchen, staff super attentive and friendly. Room Quality varies, the ones in the Main Building are spotless and very nicely done, the ones in the back building id consider shoddy(stayed in both, back building before basecamp, front building after). Atmosphere is great and youll always find somebody to chat with. location is very convenient as well, security guards posted at the gates, etc.

I hed booking there Guest house by phone and i went there security guard not allow us to go inside what is that is owner do now allow Nepali people to stay there ??oh my god one of worse Experience on country ,

Good location for Thamel and tourist shops. Wifi was really poor, food was adequate and access was terrible as the front entrance now closed as Thamel pedestrianised (great) but rear entrance is so narrow and they were replacing the sewers so total chaos. Eat out at Third Eye restaurant next door....great Indian food

KGH is a perfect place to stay. It's green and tranquil, just like an oasis in the desert. The place is in the middle of Thamel, which makes it with great location. Staff is polite and accommodate, rooms are above mid rage for Kathmandu. One of my best stay in Nepal.

We stayed here on a previous trip with Intrepid and had mixed experience with the rooms. The one we paid for ourselves prior to the trip starting was in the new building and very good, the room allocated to us once we joined the trekking group was dismal. Nonetheless, we decided to return here prior to another trek as we loved the tranquil pretty garden setting and dinner (try the excellent malai kofta!) and breakfast in the garden. We were delighted to be upgraded to a spacious and comfortable suite with balcony in the old building - overlooking the garden. I wish we could've stayed there for days.....not just one night. I had a massage before setting of the EBC and returned to the hotel just for another massage after the trek (we were staying elsewhere with our group). The woman massage therapist is outstanding!

Thehotel/restaurant is in the centre of thamel so its a good location if you want to shop or be near lots of nice restaurants. The restaurant in the hotel caters mostly for European options and the food is very average for a reasonable price. Serfice was slow, and in my case they made a mistake and i had to wait an extra 15 minutes for my meal. It wasn't my choice to go here and I wouldn't go back.

I spent several nights in different rooms at this guest house while travelling around Nepal. All were very clean and comfortable with a hot shower. The staff sorted out any requests very quickly and efficiently- thanks to Nabin and Prem in particular. The garden is a tranquil oasis from the hussle and bussle of Thamel and a great place to meet people or just relax.

We had a deluxe room in the new wing. Room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly. Breakfast spread was excellent with a lot of options. Unfortunately wifi in the room was patchy which was rather annoying. We also had problems with our aircon (kept on shutting off) but eventually fixed the next day. All in all, a good stay in what a lot of people have mentioned, a garden oasis of serenity.
