The FloatHouse River Kwai4.0 out of 5.0

Was a beautifully tranquil location. It was a little difficult to get to but was totally worth it. The view from the room was surreal :) My only criticism was that the long boat stops running after 6pm and most excursions would get you back later than 6pm if you wanted dinner out as well... so you almost feel obliged to eat at the resort or feel a bit anxious about getting back quickly to avoid paying 1000 baht for private long boat hire.
This is an astonishing hotel on the river proper, about 5-10 minutes upstream from the pier. It is absolutely in a beautiful setting, and the hotel is really very well appointed. The restaurant is great, the day trips fabulous and our stay was very good. A couple of minor things though. The website for the hotel claims it is not a very far drive from Bangkok - wrong. Once you factor in Bangkok/Nonthaburi traffic, and traffic along the way in every single little town you pass (including red lights that count down from 210 seconds or more), the drive is more like 4 hours. Beware, if you arrive past 6pm they will charge an arm and leg from a private boat to take you the 5 minutes upstream. Also, the staff is all courteous, but don't seem to have a lot of fun on the job. We've been to many resorts/hotels and you can immediately tell which staff are being treated really well and having fun, and which staff consider the position a mere job. Not really a complaint so much as an observation. Lastly, jump in the river and ride it down! It's sooo much fun, it's a blast.
I loved the way the house rocked when a boat passed by. The room is beautiful and the food is tasty and not over-priced.. BUT the tours were / are a little bit of a rip off. However if you are there just to chill out and enjoy a beautiful boat house on a beautiful river in nature then go for it. I would go back... if I got it for the right price.
We stayed here for three nights and loved the ambience, layout and construction of these floating villas. Rooms were comfortable and tranquil. Regrettably though we did not hire a car as the resort location is very secluded. This meant we ate at the float house for the majority of our meals. Living in Thailand I did not think the Thai food was authentic or tasty and the western food was not pleasant. I'd have to exempt the man who cooks the eggs very well at the breakfast service and the bar does a reasonably decent pineapple shake. However, doing a nice pineapple shake for some weird reason, did not translate to doing nice piña coladas!! Having a car would also help in visiting some of the nearby attractions which are highly recommended. Taxis and tours are quite expensive.
We stayed for 3days and 2 nights. The itinerary was fun, educational and packed. We had a good time with best service by your staff "Kah" who was like the guide, the waiter, the egg station chef, the potter and he delivered it very well. Thank you for looking after us and ensure we had a good time 👍🏻
We were looking for a quiet get away from Bangkok and the FloatHouse River Kwai was exactly what we were hoping for. We were very happy with the services and the facilities. We booked for 2 nights with breakfast package. The hotel has only one restaurant which is basically on a float house next to the reception area. The food was good and the prices were not expensive. The hotel is only 300 meters to Lawa Cave which was a must visit.
We stopped for 2 nights whilst visiting the ww2 "bridge over the river Kwai" and hell fire pass The float house is approx 45 mins by road from the bridge you can only arrive at the float house by long tail fast river boats the food was the best Thailand food we had tasted so far the rooms are all indervidual wooden chalet style floating on pontoons in the river Kwai with your own private veranda and decking areas you can swim in the river Kwai but the water flow is very fast so life vests are provided and should be worn
This is a very beautiful place. The rooms are individual cabins floating on the river. Everything is made very tastefully. Great service. Good food. Yes, more expensive than the streets but you are in the middle of the jungle. Everything is fresh and tasty. We stayed 2 nights and wished we had more time there. It's a very romantic place for couples. However, families with children enjoy themselves too as the rooms are huge and in addition to that giant bed in the center there are 2 other day beds which could accommodate more people. Will return there again. Hopefully soon.
We took the Death Train from Bangkok, had lunch at The floating Restaurant (v good) overlooking The Bridge On the River Kwai and then found a taxi to get us to Resotel. From there a scenic longboat to the FloatHouse. Great first impression! Isolated, romantic, beautiful. Beautiful decor, well appointed rooms. Not sure I'd be relaxed with youngsters here. No safety. Open private pontoons with seats including a swing seat are lovely but if you fall in, off you go ...! We did the River floating and it's fun but nobody would notice if you fell in by accident at night. Luckily it's very quiet, it's not a party place, the one restaurant closes early. We visited the Hellfire Pass museum (worth going to) but otherwise enjoyed some days of reading and whiling away our days on the River. Lovely! 2 nights was enough. Would recommend.
We stayed in the hotel for two nights and used it as a base to explore the bridge on the river Kwai and Hellfire Pass. Fantastic setting, arriving by long tail boat. Room was great and looked out directly over the river, with everyone having its own balcony area. Staff are very courteous and helpful and the food was very good. You can jump off the balcony at your room and float downriver to a pontoon before coming back and doing it again !
