Excellent service, the staff are amazing. Needs renovations, bathrooms are old. Very limited dining, poor dress code in the formal dining. Needs to find its category and adjust the value for the price.

The joy of this place is that it is off the beaten path. It is like an oasis. As a result, most people try to do things that are close to the hotel. But some, like us, used it as an anchor to go to Banff National Park. It's a bit of a drive, but not really out of the way. All in all, it was a lovely stay.

If you have kids, the pool is great, it's a bit run down. The staff at check in was quite rude. After a long drive to hotel arriving 2 hours past check-in time, they did not have our room ready. Since the the lobby was packed, and there are no other waiting areas, we waiting in our vehicle for more than an hour with two young cranky, hungry and tried kids. Went back to the front desk to see if we can fast track the room wait, the staff (Jacqueline) was very rude to us and gave us attitude. The manager overheard the conversation and came by to assist. We received a room right away, however, it is in front of the elevators.

We stayed at the Kanaskis lodge for 2 nights and did 3 days of skiing. We mostly chose the hotel because it's literally 5 minutes away from the ski hill which is great and the pool facility. We went straight from the ski hill on day 1 to check in at 4pm which is quite a late checkin in my opinion and it took till 6:05pm to get us a room. We were literally the last one's in the hall to get a room and only after we asked. I have a 4 year old who was starving and exhausted by that point. Our original plan was to quickly eat then go to the pool but night #1 really ruined the start of our trip. I feel if your going to provide such bad service in an industry that depends on good tourism then you should compensate for that, maybe late checkout, comped breakfast....at least something?! Not sure if we'd go back for the price of $400 a night with such bad service.

We were told that our room was ready at 130 pm from a call that came from the staff at the Lodge. (This was after I had to wait over an hour for a call back because it took so long to wait on hold in the first place.) We arrived at 145 after cutting our day short skiing only to be told that our room was not ready. We were told they would work hard to get a room ready for us ASAP and would call us shortly when it was ready. It was suggested we go to the pools while we waiting, so after having to sort through our luggage in the lobby (not idea) we tried to make the best of it and enjoy the pools. The locker rooms were dirty, unsafe amounts of water everywhere and quite dirty (toilet paper all over the ground) and none of the lockers we tried worked/had batteries to operate the keypad. After spending a couple of hours at the pool we went back to the front desk at 4 pm (guaranteed check in time nobody called before that despite saying they would). We get to the front desk in towels and wet bathing suits... only to be told that our room is still not ready! How are people not supposed to get frustrated after paying such a high price for a hotel to receive such poor service. They ended up finding a place for us around 20 minutes later and offered drink vouchers and a free breakfast for 2 (there was 4 of us) and still took 20 minutes to get our bags from being checked. Restaurant staff was wonderful and food was very good but for the price Banff is a much better option.

The outdoors

Had a wonderful girls weekend at the hotel. The spa is amazing and the dining experience was goo however they are experiencing shortage of staff and delays due to COVID. I was so happy to get out and have this experience.

Great place to take the kids, unfortunately we went to the marshmallow roasting at 7 and there was no hot chocolate left for the kids.

A great place for a weekend get away. Eric Wilmoth at the concierge went above and beyond to make for a great weekend for my girlfriends birthday. Highly recommended!
