My wife and I stayed at Trude & Scott’s wonderful condo (Unit I-1) in Palm Villas for all of March, 2019. It is located in a wonderful and very quiet condo community that is within walking distance to to shopping, restaurants, walking trails, golf and many other things but on a dead-end side street so that you are not affected by traffic or noise. The condo is immaculately clean and beautifully furnished and of all the units we have rented, this condo was the best stocked. There were plenty of glasses, dishware, cooking utensils as well as a wide array of spices & oils and plenty of paper towels, napkins, bar soap, toilet paper and other bathroom necessities. There were more than enough towels, bed linens and other similar things. Boogie boards, coolers, snorkeling gears, chairs and anything else you might need for the beach was available for our use. Some of the best beaches on the Big Island were within a 10 minute drive of our condo. All of the appliances, televisions and full-sized washer & dryer were top-quality all worked without any problems. The wireless internet network was easy to connect to and its speed was very good. The MBR had a huge bathroom with double sinks, a water closet, a jetted bath tub, a huge, glass-enclosed shower and a large walk-in closet. A slider led to a nice-sized lanai. There was another lanai downstairs where we spent a huge amount of our early morning and evenings. It has a nice table and chair set and a large, built-in gas grill. Lastly and very importantly, Trude and Scott could not have been more gracious hosts. They were responsive, accommodating and always available to address any questions/issues we had, both before and during our stay. While we have never rented from the same owners more than once, Trude and Scott made such a positive impression on us, that I will consider renting from them again in the future. We tried to rent this same condo for March 2020 but Trude mentioned that they have a multi-month rental next year and is not available for a March ’20 rental….too bad for us!
We have stayed in waikoloa multiple times in many different condos and this by far was our worst experience. We came with a family and it is completely not a family friendly place! The owners there are constantly complaining about kids playing in the pool on vacation! They absolutely want no noise there. We have never met so many unfriendly people there. There is for sure no Aloha Spirit at the Palm Villas.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Palm Villas Unit A2. Our 3 bedroom condo was well equipped, well maintained, spacious, clean and in a great location. The kids loved the pool, very large and interesting features. This is a very quiet complex which our family appreciated. The parking pass to Makaiwa Bay was the best feature! SO convenient, although the walk through the historic lava fields and fish ponds is amazing as well. Would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend friends to stay as well.
We stayed at the Palm villas with 4 adults and one baby/toddler. We loved everything about it. Our Villa A2 was very spacious and nicely furnished. We made great use of the lanai and had BBQ's almost every night. The pool was always clean and a very pleasant temperature. It was never too busy and the whole complex felt very calm and relaxing. All the gardens were well maintained. The location of the palm villas is great too, close to the shops but not too far from the local beaches. We had a nice golf course outlook. I would highly recommend staying here. We booked A2 from Trude Fawson who was a great host. Excellent communication and she made us feel very welcome.
Do NOT stay here if you bring children. The residents constantly complain about kids...who are just being kids. The management is less than welcoming. It is the absolute worst place for families. There are so many other better options on the South Kohala Coast. Avoid this property at all costs.
We loved our stay at this complex It was off season so the parking was not an issue, but now seeing it I can understand when it is full how you made need to park down at the tennis club and walk to the unit. As other have said, the garages are used by the owners to store items for the condo. It is clean, quiet and close to the shops at Mauna Lani. Most importantly you get access to the Beach Club and use of the facilities there. We did have a card for the gate that you needed to have. We walked to the beach most days, but you could drive using the pass. Love the beach as it has great snorkeling and a nice restaurant where you can walk in for lunch or drinks. They serve dinner too. Very close to the North golf course, the condo is right near the 18th hole. Our condo came with many extras including beach chairs, umbrella, coolers and snorkel stuff Our condo was about 1200 sq. ft and had two nice bedrooms. Had one small problem with a toilet breaking and it was fixed that afternoon. Check in and out were smooth and details were sent well in advance Was a VRBO property and it was exactly like the pictures
Since we live on the other side of the Big Island, we frequently rent condo units on the Kohala/Kona side. The drive is only 90 minutes (from Hilo) using the Inouye highway. This was our first condo rental away from the Waikoloa area in the past ten years. Mauna Lani Palm Villas Unit G22 (Second story 3 bdr, 2 bath) was well equipped and very comfortable. Kitchen facilities were superb and convenient as was the balcony with grill. Unit was a 10 min walk to the shoreline. The grounds, especially around the pool area, are very well kept. Beach access is available through the Beach Club which can be quite crowded around mid-day (walkable, but easier to drive around to the access gate). We prefer Mauna Kea (Kauanoa) Beach which is only a short drive up the coast. The only drawback for G 22: There is no lift available for this unit, so this unit would not be recommended for someone who has difficulty with stairs.
Nicely furnished and well equipped kitchen. We enjoyed the lanai with outdoor cooking and private view of lava fields. Use of the beach club and parking is a big plus. Walk to beach across the fish pond at the Mauna Lani takes about 15 minutes. Pool at the villas was clean and lovely landscaping.
Visited during Spring Break 2017. Wonderful pool and garden setting. Units over looking the natural reserve are very private. Stayed in H building. Parking can be challenging as owners utilize garages while guests tend to park on the road or grass edges. Would return.
The landscaping at Palm Villas is very beautiful and well maintained. It is conveniently located near The Shops where we often bought take out food for dinner. It is near a hiking trail that takes you to the shoreline with a 10-12 minute walk. The people at Kohala Estates Realty who we rented through were very nice and generous folks who treated us as friends. Parking is limited and can be an issue.
