Well, we went to Lakes Entrance for a couple of days. We couldn't get into the resort we wanted so we thought we'd just get anything for 2 nights, and anything it was. Absolute Lakes Entrance Motel had great views over the lakes from the lookout over the road. We booked in and hubby said the lady on reception was lovely. We went to our room and found that the external front door was only an internal door, which is made of plywood with a cardboard fill, not very secure and the security latch on the inside of the door was missing. Internally it was very basic and run down but clean. The rooms had airconditioners which were good however when ours was off we could hear the air conditioner from the adjoining unit which made our room quite noisy. The bed was hard and unfortunately uncomfortable. The crockery and cutlery were basic. No dinner plates just bread and butter plates, and no wine glasses. There was only shampoo, no conditioner, lucky we bring our own. There was no detergent to do the dishes with and no dishcloth either. We went to get breakfast the following day at 7am and there was no one around and no breakfast either, apparently breakfast isn't until 8am. As we were going past the pool we noticed it was dirty and in desperate need of a clean. The weather was pool worthy but no one would have been able to swim anyway. I suppose though you get what you pay for.
This motel fitted the bill as a comfortable and convenient place to spend a couple of nights while we walked and explored the region around Lakes Entrance. Situated at the top of a cliff overlooking the lake, the site offers a great view towards the sea. The town is visible to the left, and only a short drive down a steep hill. More conveniently for us, there is a nice path and steps - slightly the worse for lack of recent maintenance - down to a path that runs along the lakeside and into town. Continental breakfast was available from 08:00 in the morning (a little late for an early start!), but it was far nicer to find breakfast in one of the several excellent cafés in town, or alternatively places such as Nowa Nowa, if heading out on a drive. The room was clean, convenient, and pleasantly quiet - despite relative proximity to the road, and very extensive private parking, we heard no noise. Postives: Good price - very good value for money. Convenient location, with good lake access by foot, coupled with a nice view. Comfortable and quiet. The free wifi worked well, at a decent speed. Negatives: We ended up using the aircon, because the clunky arrangement for ventilation through an upper window at the back of the room didn't allow for through flow of air (more of a maintenance issue). An 08:00 start for breakfast is a little late if you are going to make the most of summer daylight.
We booked a family room last minute on our journey back from Melbourne to Brisbane that was actually two-bedrooms, which was great. The rooms were clean and tidy, with a huge TV in the main area. It was nice to see that the cooler temperatures were considered with electric blankets on each of the beds. It is a nice spot on top of the hill out of Lakes Entrance. However sadly the bad outweighed the good. Whilst we're happy to stay in budget / basic accommodation when the price tag matches, this was not the case as the place was tired and run down. It took advantage of our last minute booking and the extremely limited availability between Bairnsdale and Eden just after New Year. The kitchen and bathroom being combined was off-putting, with the worst coffee and tea making facilities. The electrics throughout the rooms were unnerving; the switches in the main room were a bit dodgy with the air con and TV being connected? When lights turned off in other rooms it would then cut the TV signal.
Booked it last minute as decided to start holiday a day early. Very out dated, double rooms extremely tight. Really the only good thing about the room was the fluffy towels. Were advised of a buffet breakfast to find just no name cereal and toast. $300 very steep for very out dated facilities
We decided to go up to Lakes Entrance on a last minute whim so grateful we were able to get any accommodation at all during the peak. The motel was dated and really in need of some renovations. The room we had was satisfactorily clean, aircon difficult to operate and one of the shower valves broke off during my shower. Also very limited crockery. A basic continental breakfast is included. Just across from the lookout (great views) and short drive to shops (not on main street). The lady at the reception was friendly. I wouldn't choose to stay again.
From the outside it's apparent this is an older property that they are in the process of renovating. Rooms were spotlessly clean. Basic but functional and good value for money. Large Tv's in rooms. Good showers and amenities
Motel is old and outdated, no where near the centre of town. rooms smelt luckily we brought out on linen as we were a bit iffy about using theres. you get what you pay for. management was nice enough - wouldn't stay again.
This motel is a 30 minute walk from the Main Street, lake is visible from up high. The motel is dated - it's post The Shining but with more noises than even that haunted hotel brings!!! Limited kitchen / crockery, no washing up liquid or tea towels. A bathroom that is colder than walking into your freezer (which is odd as this is the place you need to get naked!) Air conditioner louder than a jet plane but needed to stop you freezing to death, the bin still had rubbish in from the last guest.
Tucked up on the hill away from the main esplanade made for a cosy little motel tucked off the highway. Staff friendly on arrival. When we got to our room we opened the door and initially there was a musty old smell however this went away within a few minutes. Everything in the room was clean, the spa and bathroom were clean, the beds were quite comfy and a large TV. Air con worked well, electric blankets worked well. Is it old? Yes Does it need a facelift? Yes But Did it feel safe? Yes Was it clean? Yes Convenient location? Yes Would I stay again ? Yes This motel is not the Hilton but it is clean, functional and quite comfortable Room 19- Spa room
Motel at top of hill looking over lakes. Rooms comfortable with massive big screen television. Good pool area with barbie and view. Breakfast was in lovely clean restaurant. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
