I stayed in this hotel for a little while with my colleagues for business. The hotel is about 1 hour and half by car from Gotenburg airport, and located near the city center and the big lake. They say the hotel is partially in renovation and there may be some nuisances, but my room was very quiet and I did not hear any noise during my entire stay, although some renovation works were visible. My room was on the 3rd floor, and facing the inside. It looked rather old. One of the electrical outlets was broken, and the heater in the bathroom was not working. There seems to be no air-conditioning although I never needed it in October. (There was a fan in the room.) I had a refrigerator in my room, in which I could store things I bought (good point!!), but there is no space to store clothes and other stuff. I mean there were no drawers or shelves for this purpose. So, it was not so practical for a long stay. The double bed is too soft to my taste, but still ok. There was an additonal duvet. So, I was never cold during the night. Actually, it was rather hot during the night. Their laundry service was not reliable, I mean they mix up things. Two times, one of my colleague had someone else's underwear and socks. (He lost his once.) Fortunately, I personnaly did not have any problem with their laundary service, though. The breakfast was very, very good, with almost everything you can expect for a good Scandinavian breakfast buffet with local food and drinks (like herrings, local juices), but it was not practical to serve myself to hot food (like scrambled eggs. bacon, sausages, etc), because the food was in covered recipients, and there was no indication of what was in each recipient. In addition, there was no space to put a cover when you removed it to have a look or serve yourself. There is a pub (Bishops Arms) in the hotel, where you can taste different Swedish beers as well as beers from other countries, like Germany, Czech, etc., in a very good atmosphere. Otherwise, in the street which is on the left side of the hotel when you go out from the hotel, there are many shops, where there was a cash dispenser (bankomat), as well as a Subway sandwich restaurant (open on Sundays) very close to the hotel. In this street if you go to the right, crossing the bridge, a few blocks away, there is a supermarket, which is open on Sundays. (If you walk to the right, you see Scandic and on the left, the supermarket HEMKOP is there.) As a whole, this hotel is rather practical because you can survive a week-end without a car, and I am sure the rooms will be much better when all the rooms are renovated to the modern standards. Still, their laundry service needs to be improved. By the way, in Goteburg airport, I wanted to take some Swedish kronor from a Bankomat, but it was broken. So, I had to go to an exchange office, which took a commission of 50 Swedish kronor for whichever amount. I call this almost a "fraud". So, you should never change money at an exchange office at the airport, but come to the city and find a bankomat, if the one at the airport is broken.
Location is perfect, close to the station and city center. Price was high for the quality of the room (300€ per night) Bed too soft. View horrible (see pictures). Room and bathroom a bit "old", basic.
I must say that this stay was a surprise of disappointment, or perhaps my expectation of a Elite hotel is too big. The rooms are small, for not mention the toilet - so small that you are not able to bring your toilet bag. No air condition in the rooms. The restaurant was a construction place, the price level of this hotel is far over the quality standard they offer - will not be back that's for sure!
This hotel is one of the most well run hotel I've ever stayed at. The staff is professional, hardworking, competent and welcoming. The location is perfect, it is in the center of everything; the crossing to the beach/water, the shops, the museums, etc. The housekeeping keeps the hotel immaculate and the housekeeping staff are exceptional at ensuring as to not inconvenience you when they clean your room. A nice touch is the hotel has two bicycles for you to ride during your stay, free of charge. One day when I was returning a bicycle a man approached me asking me how I enjoyed the bicycle and after my reply I asked if he is the hotel manager. It was at that time I understood why the hotel ran so well and his employees so professional, they have a boss who cares about the customers, the customers experience and personable to boot. When reading reviews before my trip some posts talk about the hotel being dated. They have restored the side I stayed in and are currently working on restoring the other side. The breakfast was quite nice too. The room was quite nice and toiletries provided very nice. There is a parking garage a block from the hotel and you can have the hotel include that charge in your bill. I highly recommend this hotel.
We stayed 2 nights while visiting friends in Jonkoping. The hotel is in a good central position by the lake and central district. Our room was on the first floor and it was pretty noisy outside on Saturday night, might be quieter on a higher floor or an inside room. No air conditioning so needed to open the windows. No hotel parking but if a weekend it is free parking nearby after 1500 hours on Saturday. Breakfast was ok.
Although I knew beforehand the hotel was being refurbished, I was looking forward to staying at such a historic hotel. I had read about their breakfast and it was indeed superb. The staff was very professional. It was my first trip to Sweden. I would like to go back. Thank you.
Nice hotel in the middle of town and close to the Lake Vättern. Room was of decent standard. Breakfast was ok. There is a nice pub in the hotel. The rate was good, slightly lower than for other hotels in the same area.
The hotel seems to be a historical building and is right in the city centre and next to the lake. As far as location is concerned, it is almost unbeatable. Shops, bars and restaurants are within walking distance and the walk along the lakeshore is just across the road and the railway tracks. Staff at reception was very friendly and efficient. My single room was a bit small, the bed comfortable but unfortunately no big sight, just the backyard. There are signs of wear and tear, I think it would welcome some refreshening. Breakfast buffet was ok, with a wide choice of bread and marmelades as well as many healthy ítems. I would stay here again if I get a good rate.
Top Location - Nice Staff - Friendly Atmosphere - Restaurant & Pub next door . . . . Could you wish for more . . . ? I called the hotell two or three days after check out - and their response was very nice. After another two days I was called by the management - for follow up - proving their concern about the wellbeing of their guests. Thanks a whole lot!!!
The new space and extra room will grant relax. A mix of old and semi-old kept neat and tidy will offer you some time travel Our great lake Vättern is clearly majestic right by the breakfast lounge, separated by the railway, extremely centrally located. Hangaround a few days to fill up
