We stayed here for a night enroute back to London from Kruger National Park. The hotel staff greeted warmly and are took our bags and ensured it was swiftly transported to our room. The check in process is also seamless. Have a seat and relax while the front desk team do all. As an IHG rewards member, we got a complimentary drink and a deluxe room on the 23rd floor. The room has everything you need from a comb to vanity kit to fruits to an espresso machine. The rooms are large and spacious and enough room to move around. The bathroom are spacious with 4 fittings and I particularly love the shower. In the evening the staff came in and did the beds and left Lindt chocolates for us. Totally loved the experience and would come back again. Dint have the breakfast or food in the hotel so would not comment on it.
This hotel is well placed and works like a well oiled machine. The staff are excellent and so are the rooms. The restaurant serves great meals and room service is on point. The Skywalk provides access to the Sandton City Mall and links to the Nelson Mandela Square. Everything that you could wish for in a large city!
For a weekend in Johannesburg, we were looking for a hotel in Sandton. Fortunately, I had points with IHG and there was availability at the Intercontinental Sandton Towers. Before checking in, I was impressed with the experience - I was contacted by the loyalty desk to confirm any specific preferences, check-in times, etc. I also interacted with the concierge to facilitate restaurant bookings and transfers, and this was undertaken efficiently. Our room was incredible spacious, even though it was not a suite. I was pleasantly surprised to discover a separate bath, too. The room had a Nespresso machine for morning coffees. Breakfast at the hotel opens at 0630, even over weekends. This is really welcome as so many establishments tend to start breakfast much later over weekends, putting a dent in the day. We took in breakfast in the lobby once and then again in the club lounge. The lobby has a really good selection for the buffet, but it would be nice to see an a-la-carte only breakfast. The club lounge has a more restricted buffet, but makes up for it with personalized service. The club lounge is smaller than some of the other IC properties, but was never crowded to where we could not find place to sit. Every evening, it's easy to take in snacks and drinks, complemented by full table service. Service in the club lounge is excellent. We did not look for it, but I think that the hotel does not have a restaurant for dinner. Rather, it's an option to take in the short walk to their sister restaurant (the Sandton Sun) as their restaurant is very good. We also found that you could charge to your IC room from the Sandton Sun. This hotel has a lovely secluded pool deck with a well tended garden. This would be ideal during the hotter summer months - I found that it was turning a little cold in late March to use it fully. However, the exercise facility in the hotel is one of the most impressive I've seen in a hotel. You have a wide range of equipment, and they are all in good order. Finally, this hotel's location is excellent. It adjoins the Sandton Sun (and shares facilities), and also the Sandton City shopping complex - perfect for wining, dining and shopping. When next in Sandton, I'll be back.
Linked to Nelson Mandela Square and the Convention Centre this is a very nice hotel. Very helpful staff and nice rooms, with a quiet bar for an evening tipple. I would certainly stay here again when in the area.
The hotel was a second option to the one I generally stay in Joburg but was very happy once I settled in. Very central, good spacious rooms, warm and friendly people. Just a slight damper was my room service dinner meal which could have been much better. Otherwise very pleased and will definitely be back again. Thank you to the team.
It perfectly served me during my business stay in Sandton. It is a walk from the Gautrain metro station to the hotel. Well served with a skywalk from Sandton Convention Center, thru to the Nelson Mandela Square shopping mall. Very very friendly staff at the hotel, especially the ladies at the reception. Good food, but can be improved. Real value for money given the location. Very fast internet speeds. Will definitely return back to this hotel.
Love the location! Breakfast an excellent buffet includes Asian and Indian. From 10th floor there is access to Sandton City convention centre and Sandton City Mall. Sandton Gautrain station is about 5mins drive. Free shuttle from the hotel to the Sandton Gautrain station. The GM Kaliq Essop is very hands on. Everyone is made to feel just as important as the next.
As a frequent user of Intercontinental Hotels I had a number of free nights available to me. Our stay was around 10 days, when I tried to book using my points and pay I was told the hotel was full. I then went and booked 5 seperate bookings and was able to get my free nights and discounted rates. When we checked in the staff were very helpful and gave us the same room for the entire stay but we would just have to check in and check out for all the different bookings. This was not to problematic but as Pojke-fredi mentioned I also had price descreprancy every time I checked out and in. Luckily I had every email received from the hotel with the confirmed price, the front office did correct accordingly. The hotel lobby is beautiful and they have an excellent gym, I didn't mind the pool area even though it was in shade a lot of the time. It is well positioned with easy safe access to Sandton City and Mandela Square. We did not eat at the hotel as we felt the breakfast was not good value for money and very basic (we had been spoilt by the amazing breakfasts at the Intercontinental Hotel Oliver Tambo Airport). Their are a multitude of restaurants surrounding the hotel serving great breakfasts. Very comfortable beds. From a business point of view it is a comfortable hotel, with friendly and helpful staff, but I think food quality could be improved upon.
I stayed here for the second time (last time it was 3 years ago) and can tell you that it is still one of the best value-for-money options in Sandton. Just 30 minutes drive from both Tambo and Grand central airports in the safest place of Johannesburg. Plenty of nice restaurants and a large shopping mall adjusted to the hotel via a skywalk. Rooms are large, bed is very comfortable, bathroom has both tube and a walk-in shower. And they have a nespresso coffee machine at your disposal. Gym is also good. The only thing I would improve is breakfast as it is a bit scarce for such a good hotel. Bottom line: quality hotel for reasonable money
Nice hotel, lovely bright lounge area , big rooms and a nice but small pool area. Best part was the covered bridge to the shopping mall, which took you also when you walked through the mall to Nelson Mandela square with excellent restaurants . I would have scored this hotel top marks if it had not been that breakfast service was a bit haphazard for instance one day my coffee never turned up and the croissants if you ate early were not as fresh than when you took breakfast after 8.30 . Most importantly I felt save and that in the end is the main reason I would come back to a hotel, so I will be back at this one .
