I picked this hotel for its location. It is right next to a mall/shopping & restaurant area, which is was convenient. I would stay again, even though it is not a luxury hotel by any means. More like a Super 8 with larger rooms. Rooms are spacious and clean; bed comfortable. The negatives: grab and go breakfast was blah with so-so coffee and Wi-Fi was slow. Bonus: staff was very friendly and helpful.
We picked this hotel due to the extreme convenience to the 320 bus to NYC (the bus stop is right across the street) and that it has a kitchen. It had a full size refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave and stove top. Very handy for leftovers and snack. We stayed there for a week. You do have to request the dishes and other kitchen amenities up front which is a little bit of a hassle. You do have to purchase your own dish soap though. It is also right next to a mall/shopping & restaurant area, which is a great convenience as well. I would definitely stay again, for the sheer convenience of it all. It's not a luxury hotel by any means. I called it better than the Motel 6 / Super 8 caliber of lodging, but not as good as a Holiday Inn Express for example. It is a little tired, but you can't beat it. Also, we have started seeing this at other residence type lodging, the good rate we had did not include maid service. Even paying for the bus fair daily for the 2 of us, we still saved at least $100 over anything we would find in the city. We rented a car for convenience when we were at the hotel to go to stores or restaurants near the hotel. Also, we did our Statue of Liberty / Ellis Island tour from the New Jersey side, since it has a parking lot and less busy. I found it enjoyable overall
Well, the location was great, however, some of the staff members were not the best to deal with. (1) I had a very long ride on the day of the arrival, but it looks to me the front desk guy didn't even care where I am coming from. Then there was a maintenance/housekeeping guy had full of attitude, he was a middle age man with a with an aggressive tone who didn't know the customer service that well. What I noticed he treated the guest based on their skin color, which was kinda sad since he was an immigrant too. I strongly suggest the management to look into this since I won't recommend this particular place to my group of friends. (2) The washroom clogged several times at night. (3) Beleive me, when it comes to breakfast it only served Muffins, granola bars, coffee, and tea. This place needs real breakfast(hot), at least cereal and waffles.
The best service experience, the maid Magnolia was super friendly with me and everything looked very clean. I would like to return to this place and that she be at my service. The site is clean, petfriendly and responds to my needs.
I'm not at all happy with Extended stay hotel, I will never stay or recommend to stay in extended hotel in Secaucus anywhere in USA. Here are some of the problem: 1. WIFI connection is really very bad, even I was paying 22.5 USD per week for enhanced WIFI and that also did not work. So this hotel is not recommended for business travelers. 2. I have been staying in different extended stay hotels in USA , but the quality/standard of this hotel ha not improved in last 10 years, w.r.t to cleanness, breakfast, wifi, and TV channeles 3. One of the worst part of Extended stay hotel is breakfast. They advertise in their website saying free breakfast but there is nothing except muffins, energy bar and coffee. No fruits or cereals or eggs.. So better if they can stop this breakfast altogether and reduce the hotel tariff. 4. They have provided TV with casting features, but this won't work unless you buy high speed internet. And this high speed internet also did not work for me.
I always love Extended Stay America. However, this one is one of the best ever . This is because it is so close to NYC ,yet you can have everything you need in your suite if you need to work or just don't feel like going out . Everything is in excellent shape, staff exceptional and will do anything possible for you to enjoy your stay . For the money, a great choice when visiting NYC!!
The hotel is in a great location near a bus which takes you straight to New York a lots of places to eat in a mall with other expensive hotels the staff is friendly but my only problem was the room we were 2 adults and two kids they gave us a queen bed with a sofa which turns into a single bed very dirty and the metals in the bed were not something you could sleep on very uncomfortable for the kids we asked for covers and made a bed on the carpet
I loved the hotel! We stayed in the hotel for 4 days. It was close to everything! The staff was friendly. Because I read the reviews previously I knew that there would be no daily housekeeping which was fine with us. The hotel had what we needed all we had to do was ask. This is probably what helps keep the costs down. You definitely have to request cooking supplies. Don't come here if you want to be pampered because this is not that type of hotel. There is a small indoor warm swimming pool. The bus stop was literally right next to the hotel. We paid $8.50 round trip to get into NYC and the bus runs every 15-20 min. The bus drops you off at Port Authority. Carlo's Bakery for Cake Boss is right outside on the right of Port Authority. Yes, there are a lot of homeless at Port Authority but there is also a lot of law enforcement so we felt very safe. The breakfast was grab and go until 10am. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate, oatmeal packs, granola bars and muffins. If you don't like any of their free breakfast offerings just take a 5 min walk to Dunkin Donuts which is right in the plaza! It was me, my mother, 16 year old son and 7 year old daughter and we staying in a King Suite very comfortably.
I know Extended stay as an awesome hotel in terms of quality and experience. This time I completely got disappointed after booking for two nights at 1 Plaza Secaucus hotel. Room quality is not very good, heater did not work whole night and no one is there in the reception to complain about it. Not a good breakfast. No coffee maker in the room or anywhere in the hotel except for the breakfast time. The staff were friendly.
Location was fair. Even with traffic jam in Lincoln Tunnel, it took far less than an hour by car between the hotel and Time Square. There are many restaurants and stores around the hotel. Our room was quiet and the staff members were all kind.
