It was very important to me that we have a view of Manhattan skyline. I stressed this when I called Dharma directly, I specifically asked about seeing the World Trade Center 1 and was told that the “ Premium 2 bedroom” would have that view, just like the photos on their site and be at least on the 44th floor. It is not even possible to see World Trade at all from any room here, and even worse new buildings have been built since pics were taken and all that is visible is a little slice of the Hudson. The room didn’t even look the same as the pics, very cramped living room not the open floor plan in the pictures at al! If any of that is as important to you as it was me, then I would look elsewhere because there are indeed much better views in rentals along Jersey City harbor for the same, if not much less money. I will say the property manager was super nice and understood my frustration and disappointment, but no one else there seemed to give 2 shakes that we were unhappy.
Opted to stay on the other side of the Hudson and this place was just excellent. Great views. Really easy to commute over to Manhattan on either the path train or ferry. Lots of bar, diners and shops nearby and nice to come back to a quieter atmosphere, after doing the New York sights.
The suites appear to be in a building shared with residents we had a two bedroom apartment on 44th floor which afforded views over Jersey City and back to Manhattan although between two buildings (but still good). The apartment was nicely furnished and perfect as a temporary home for four for a week. Although quiet in the area there are a number of amenities nearby including a bar to the side, a supermarket and a 24 hour diner just up the road. Staying here allowed us to do the Statue of Liberty from Liberty Park using the Light Rail which stops just down the road. The light rail also goes to Hoboken which has a lovely riverside walk. Access to Manhattan is by PATH train which runs from Exchange Place a short walk along the River front. The train is one stop to World Trade or about 3 stops in another direction to go further Uptown Manhattan. We used the Path train all week and mainly walked around Manhattan using the subway only on a couple of occasions. You can also cross the river by water taxis during the day and there is a ferry to World Trade Centre which also replaced the train at times during the weekend (Temp arrangement check) So if you don't mind walking can plan your trips well and you want a quiet base we think we found one found and in return the view of Manhattan from Jersey City riverside is spectacular. We travelled from JFK Airport it was a bit of a trek and we had to take the Ferry on the Saturday night from Trade Centre but we were greeted by the lights of Jersey City and the Colgate clock. Great Stay Dharma Home Suites Thank you.
Our first time to New York, we wanted to stay away from the tourist trappings of NYC at night. We were also advised that Hotel rooms in NYC are very small, so took a chance on New Jersey and an apartment, we were spot on. Two minutes walk to the Waterfront and water taxi or 4 minutes to the subway, so getting to Manhattan was easy and we had the views of Manhattan that tourists only see on photos because they are staying in NYC. We felt extremely safe in the area, we had a great choice of restaurants and it was nice and quiet. We stayed on the 41st floor in a one bedroom apartment and woke up each morning to stunning view of the Statue of Liberty. The apartment was very spacious, with well supplied linen and towels, good size lounge, kitchen and separate bedroom and very clean on arrival. Would recommend this highly.
this was my second time here location is perfect great views of all of New York and short walk to 24 hour subway and one stop under the Hudson to World Trade Centre unlike the city it is at least half the price and in quiet residential area, large mall and supermarket nearby. Spacious apartments with floor to ceiling glass with laundry. The only negative as is not a hotel the second time I stayed as you cant check in early they argue that you cant leave bags there or not enough space there is plenty of space in the storage lockers unsure again why this happened and there is no block out blinds the light come through the blinds but the amenities and area is second to none and the view back to the city and so close to everything I would stay here again. Also included is fast WiFI, hundreds of cable channels and local calls. They just need to sort out luggage storage and replace the blinds
Check in was efficient with a very pleasant Front Desk lady. We were informed that the room keys (Room 4705) would be on the dining table in our room. Getting to our room however, on the 47th floor became interesting when we found that you needed a key to go higher than the 40th floor. Luckily a maid swiped for us to get there. My brother, who was managing all of our luggage, was on a different elevator. After getting the room key, I was attempting to help him by pressing the call button, hoping to get his elevator. He finally got to our floor. We were 3 adults, Husband and wife and a brother. I am Mobility Impaired and get around on a small Mobility Scooter. I did not encounter any problems at all. The apartment was was far better than we were expecting. Very clean and with a great view of the Manhattan skyline. A fully functional Kitchen and Laundry was very appreciated. Surprised that the 2nd bedroom did not have a TV. The dryer took forever for clothes, but maybe there was a better setting we didn't find. The ensuite door for the Master suite had a broken handle, so we couldn't close it. The owner responded very quickly to our call, but was unable to rectify the problems immediately. None of these minor problems really affected us. Please invest in better quality loo paper though. There were noisy upstairs neighbours, but that was not the owners fault. A massive Deli is on the corner and has a very good assortment of foods and drinks. Close to variety of Supermarkets, Cafe's and Chemist shops for all your needs. Very close to the PATH or the Ferry, just a 5 minute walk. Just up the street to the "City Diner" which had a great Menu and an owner who took time to give us some history of the area. Don't pay Manhattan prices to look at Jersey - stay at Dharma Home Suites Paulus Hook, and look over at Manhattan. Highly recommended.
Great Location, nice staff fairly priced, clean. To summarize it was better than expected. During my stay we lost a wallet in the hotel, staff were very helpful in assisting to locate it. Would appreciate room darkening window covering, for a better sleep.
Place and close access to trains et cetera Walk a short distance to grove stree for great food places especially skinners loft for breakfast Don't buy New York pass as it is quicker to buy tickets at attractions
My 2nd trip to New York this year is with my Family of 5. Staying at the Dharma Home Suites JC at Paulus Hook is most recommended. Yes We spend some time in transportion to Manhattan - but it is worth it. Dharma Home Suites is the home away from home. The apartments is full Equit with All you need, Nice rooms and a fantastic view from 46th floor. It is also Nice to come “home” at Night - away from All the fuzz on Manhattan. We and the kids loved every minute.
We were two couples in a two bedroom two bathroom apartment and it was a great way to base in NJ and a one stop PATH trip to WTC and it is much better value than two hotel rooms in NYC It is well equipped as the previous reviewers have noted and the washing machine and dryer works very well We were on the 44th floor with a lovely outlook The food mart just around the corner is excellent and there are some great restaurants especially up in the Grove area just a ten minute walk
