When I booked the hotel, all the hotels in Jasper were nearly full and really expensive, therefore I booked Super 8 and it was a mistake as the distance between both was quite long and wasted say an hour both ways per day. Plus the hotel itself was rundown and needed some money spent on it. The rooms were clean etc but noisy from road traffic BBQ hadn't a gas bottle in it. Apart from a Chinese restaurant next door you will have to and the aircon. On their website they said the had a BBQ area, in reality they had a gas BBQ next to the front door on a grass verge and a couple of deck chairs, oh yes and the drive to Hinton for food, which is a bind. Also the dumpster bin was in the front car park, which doesn't give a good impression of the quality of the hotel.
Super 8 Hinton is roughly a 30-40 minute drive from the Jasper National Park gate. The drive was a little longer than we expected, but we were pleased with our two-night stay. The manager, Patrick, was very professional and accommodating. The check in was fast. The room was basic but clean. The wifi was strong enough for emails, social media sites, and low-res video streaming. There were coin washers and dryers on the first floor. The hot breakfast was a pleasant surprise, nothing fancy but was more than enough. They served eggs, sausages, waffles along with the usual cereals, bread, and fruits. The manager made sure that there was enough of everything and refilled the eggs and and sausages regularly. We also met Buddy (Patrick's pet), who entertained us with his tricks.
every day my key card had to be reprogrammed. no variety in breakfast, same thing everyday and not the freshest. housecleaning had to be summoned for service that is incomplete at best. the internet/wifi in my room kept cutting out and using the one in the lobby also kept cutting out. been there a few times in the past and this week long stay was not as good as before
We booked 2 rooms, and showed up at 6:00pm to check in. They were overbooked and had to wait 20 minutes to get 1 room cleaned. The room smelled musty and had a patch mould growing on the carpet and wall by the door. My daughter said she will never stay there again.
Stayed for one night at this property on 9-26-2017. When walked into the room, there was a strong mixture odor of smoking and cleaning spray. Complained to front desk staff, a young lady told me immediately without hesitation that my room was a non-smoking room! When I pointed that there were TWO ash trays in the room, she still insisted that that was a non-smoking room without a non-smoking sign on the door (there are several rooms, which do have non-smoking sign on the door). She requested to inspect the room and to my surprise, she took the ash trays with her and still claimed that I had a non-smoking room! What a joke!
The problem with the room was there was that the perfume smell in the room was so strong it stung ur eyes and nose, but was told it was the last room, we opened windows and turned on A/C, told mangement in the morning. They didn't seem to worried about it. Won't stay at that one again, in Hinton Aberta
The Hotel needs to update its front doors to automatic to help people entering with its one trolly available. It would also help people with special needs enter the hotel. The breakfast was hot and good but the breakfast room was to small and many customers had to stand up while eating.
Staff was friendly but got my reservation wrong. They did correct it thought. Bathroom was not finished well. The door hinge was loose and door dragged on the floor. Caulking job on tub and sink had no care or professional look to it. Shower curtain rod was repaired but very poorly done. Stayed 2 nights and room was not made up and no new towels for second night.
No hot water for showers, Sink did not drain. Did not make bed and clean room. In 30 years of traveling by far the worst room ever. Very Poor Internet service.
