We stayed here for 3 weeks and it was fine. The rooms are very large - like an apartment. Housekeeping does a good job and the staff are helpful. The pools are nice and are cleaned every morning. It's not a 5 star by any means but has everything you need. The kitchen has a MW, full fridge and a 2 burner hot plate. It is stocked with a coffee maker, juicer, blender, dishes but minimal cooking pots and utensils. We might have been able to ask the office for more but didn't even think of it. I had brought some things with me and would be glad to recommend the same if you email me. The hotel fills up on the weekends but is fairly quiet mid week. All in all it was a good stay. I felt safe and would stay there again.
We went with our teenage daughter and our teenage niece. We found the hotel very clean, staff was friendly and the pool area was uncrowded. The location was very close to bus route to Zihua and only few minutes walk to the very beautiful main beach. Hotel has colonial Mexican style which suited us. We will definitely return for another visit. One downside was no in room wifi, only available in lobby area, and even then not always working.
Staff was nice and helpful. The rooms were nicely furnished, however no closet to hang your clothes in. There was a chest with four drawers, which was enough for me. The hotel advertise washer/dryers and dishwasher in the rooms. Not so in this unit. I had to go outside the property to do my laundry or pay a lot to have it done by the staff. I had a problem getting change at the front desk for tips etc. Since I was gone every day, it was only a minor inconvenience. I will be back for a month Christmas staying at the golf club with all the amenities instead. Still I recommend this place. It just depends on what your needs are.
Beautiful suite with all the amenities. Unbelievable value. Clean and secure. We don`t spend much time in Ixtapa, preferring more of the rustic Mexican village scene to the city, but when we hit the city this is THE place to stay. Beautiful and well kept
Our junior suite was very spacious with a kitchen for making breakfast, lunch and even dinner. We liked the fact that it had two full bathrooms and a nice balcony for eating outside. We enjoyed mornings having our breakfast on the balcony while watching and listening to the birds. The grounds are very well maintained feels like your in a tropical park. The front desk staff was very helpful, if you have any questions or concerns. This hotel is very well run and maintained. This was our 2nd year staying here and we do hope to return next year. Only about a 10 minute walk to the beach very close to restaurants and shops .Quite in the evening great for sleeping . Has a very nice pool area to relax by.
An amazing stay in Ixtapa in this cozy and folkloric hotel with a very warm staff. We received a much better service than we thought considering the low price. I am happy to come back again this year!
Rooms are spacious with kitchens and all conveniences. High tropical foliage with views to the hills behind the hotel make for a very quiet setting. The hotel has about 40 rooms so is not congested with people. The pools have are as big as those serving several hundred guests on the waterfront so it is possible to have the pool completely to yourself at times. The staff are friendly and cooperative.
If you're looking for a property with a very low service level and lousy linens this is it. Take your own linens, towels and pillows because these ones looked like they've been there for decades. The rooms are very spacious but look like if you were in the 1960's. The food in the hotel (which I don't exactly know why they call it a hotel) is not very good either and the menu is very limited. The black coffee is terrible. The room looked clean but let me tell you this. I just left my toothpaste for a couple of hours in the bathroom and when I came back it was infested by mini ants all over the place eating the paste. They should have some fumigation more often. I believe there were just around 5 employees in the property which is not very well designed because it rain one day and there were large ponds of water for hours along the full walkway to the rooms and large parts of the gardens were flooded as well. Another thing is that there are no toilets near the pool then you have to walk to the restaurant with your towel or back to your room which is not pleasant. They really have no hot water if you want to take a shower in your room and the warm water ends very fast, hence you better be quick if you want to have it kind of warm. The good part is that I took my own shampoo with me because the cheap thing they left in the shower was very depressing. The positive things are that the pools were clean and the property is located just in front of a small souvenir's market were you can find very cheap stuff.
Hola! I'm writing this review after staying 7 days in puerta del mar from the 8th of June. We had a great time in ixtapa the hotel is well located close to the main touristic area. Rooms are clean and have kitchen and a balcony. The kitchen comes very handy as it has fridge, small stove, even a blender ( I'm vegan so I drink lots of smoothies!) The hotel is quiet not a party place, and as far as I understood June is low season so we were very few occupants in the hotel having it almost all for us😄:-) Staff very friendly, nice pool, not the classic feeling of a hotel, more of staying at someone's house. You can buy fresh coconut in the bar & have happy hour. The only thing was not that perfect were the beds (mattress incredibly hard for the ladies in the group but... the lads were fine?! ...)so it's uncomfortable after a few days :-/ also we had some issues with mosquito bites so I recommend you to let the staff know as soon as you start having issues so that they fumigate the place at the time of cleaning the room. Ixtapa is very hot during June! Puerta del mar is a great spot to rest and relax more cozy than a hotel.
While it's not like the resort hotels that are right on the beach, Puerta del Mar was perfect for us. We made the reservation through Orbitz, and had no idea that this was a hotel of suites! It was extremely convenient to have the kitchen, and two full bathrooms was totally excessive for the two of us. Everything was clean, and the staff was incredibly friendly even though they were smack in the middle of Spring Break rush. The pools were nice, and the noise curfew was respected. We would definitely go back and bring more people along! Ah, and the beach (as well as a plaza with restaurants and stores) is a 5 minute walk away!
