We are a family of 6 with children 12,10,8 and 4. Sol Amfora was very enjoyable, loads for the kids to do with literally every sport you can imagine available and the night entertainment was good (relative to other holiday locations). There were a couple of minor things, the swimming pool is a salt water swimming pool though the water is as clean as a normal pool and the bungalow was probably a little too small for six people but not a big problem. Also you do have to pay for all the activities which is to be expected but as the pool is quite small you will need to keep opening the wallet to keep the kids entertained. Umag itself is a nice place especially if you go to the opposite side of the centre/headland where the tourist train drops you off where the old town is (head towards the church tower). One drawback to Croatia is there is no local public transport so if you have no car and want to get further than Umag you'll have to get a taxi. The only exception is the train (road going tourist type) which is actually the functional transport that runs from all the local resorts to Umag and is very useful which everyone uses. We always ate in Umag so can't comment on the restaurants on the resort. This area of Croatia is comparable in price to Italy so no bargains to be had. Also very few English so if your kids like to make friends they'd probably struggle.
I am really surprised they admitt that noisy arrangement on a familydestination. And in the middle of the night! 3-4 o'clock in the morning. It was like living in the middle of a night club! Nice appartments and surroundings. Great beach. I think the administration should be more focused on giving families a calm and nice holiday than let some people party ... Both in appartments and the club by the reception.
We stayed at the Sol Amfora Apartment in August for two weeks. Service was excellent, facilities were many and varied. We really appreciated the kids clubs, pools, on-site bakery and swimming in the sea. We also took the opportunity to visit local towns and highly recommend Rovine, Piran in Slovenia and Grosnjan. A special thank you to Vanja Gojkovic from SoSport whose excellent fitness classes have inspired our whole family to pursue zumba, pilates and weight training to improve our fitness and health! This is the first time we have returned from holiday in better shape than when we started! Best wishes to the Stella Maris team from us all in Twickenham, Greater London.
Very clean resort as well as the appartements and environmental label Blue flag on the beach will make you feel comfortable and welcome. There are many activities for kids as well as for adults. We would like to say special Thanks to Vanya - she kept our bodies in motion for the whole vacation in So Sport. She is perfect!
The beaches and amenities were amazing, we did get suckered into paying for beach chairs one day because we were just outside of the resort... a mistake we only made once, but the cost was very low. Next time we will rent a villa, our apartment was nice, clean and functioning, but we are a family of 5 traveling for 3-weeks together, more space would be a luxury. However, our family was a family of 4 and they felt their unit, next door to ours was perfect.
The appartement was clean, the beds very comfortable. We liked the service. The best was the near sea and hotel pool. Also I was pleasently surprised, that after my departure they searched my glasses, which I lost in the hotel area. Really great that they found them and sent them to me. Nice service. I like.
Accommodation in the apartment is cozy, nice big terrace with sea view and pool, which means a lot to us, since we have now three great children, who have always enjoyed the seafood games .Every year we are pleasantly surprised by something new that we are happy because we see that the quality of the resort rises. There are lots of activities for children and animators are very friendly and helpful. Absolutely destination where it is never boring. And in the end everything is clean, tidy and safe.
The apartement is big, clean and nicely located very close to the seaside. The personel is communicative, lovely and friendly. There are plenty of activities available, great nature, a lot of walking routes and the beach is great and protected from the boats. However, there is a room for improvements. Some nasty noise from resort works was often heard from 6AM to 8AM. There are almost no signs on the main roads with directions to the resort.
Our 1. May holiday: clean suite, comfortable beds, green area, closeness of sea and quietness. It was disturbing me, that we must pay inner pool, shop was badly stoked, pizzeria and bar were closed. Our neighbour stole bicycle from the terace.
very nice room, friendly staff, good service (they've sent my book back to me that i left behind there) lots of stuff to do : swimming pool, boat renting, lounge bar, minidisco, disco, in-water park only disadvantage is that when it's reining, there not much to do
