Sol Aurora - All Inclusive4.0 out of 5.0

Splendid place to visit. All food was served warm and plenty of choice for all tastes. Read some reviews that said this wasn't the case but 100% disagree. Breakfast even served green beans (strange but true). I will say no more as if you are like me you make your own mind up. Soup to steak. 2 minute amble to the seafront. Shuttle type bus to the main town of UMAG. Bar served a decent lager on draught and a nice gin so I was very happy. Would definitely re visit.
Do not book this hotel in September if you are booking to avoid the school holidays and minimise the number of children in the hotel. Unfortunately, there was a children's international tennis tournament on while we were here, which meant that the hotel was overrun with children, being noisy and banging on doors. Security had to intervene on several occasions. The entertainment was also given over to a children's disco party, with no entertainment organised for adults. Not what we expected when we booked. The hotel is located remotely which means that there is either an hour long walk into Umag or a short road train ride. There are also bikes available. However, none are really practical during stormy weather which is also what we experienced (thunderstorms/heavy rain 8 out of the 10 days). The entertainment in the hotel is of an average standard and feels like a musical time warp with very little past the 70's. When the hotel is relatively full expect to have difficulty finding a table between 7.00-8.00pm. If you are lucky enough to get a table expect long queues at the buffet. The breakfast buffet offers a strange mixture including broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts and rice pudding. However, there was sufficient choice to find something for breakfast. The hotel does have a small shop and offers Thai massage (at an extra cost). There is also a small games room (also at an extra cost per game). Be aware that 'all inclusive' is very limited and that there is also a 'gold all inclusive' option with reserved seating in the restaurant and a better selection of drinks. We were not made aware of this when booking through Thompsons and it appeared to be mainly non-UK guests who had the 'gold' wrist bands. The pool area did have plenty of spare beds, however, this was due to the poor weather we experienced. We were impressed with how clean Croatia is and this was also reflected in the hotel. As the hotel is in a remote location be prepared to either hire a car, to explore the area, or book plenty of trips, especially if the weather is poor and bike rides or walks are impractical.
This hotel was the best priced all inclusive one we could find in Croatia. It is in very good location close to the sea - the swimming was very good. The staff were generally very friendly and helpful and the hotel was comfortable and well appointed. It truly was all inclusive and offered a good variety of drinks and nice coffee all day until late in the night. The restaurant food was plentiful but a little uninspired and to be honest rather boring. This is perhaps typical for hotels trying to cater for numerous nationalities. On several nights there was live music which we enjoyed. We had booked a basic double room with balcony but were very disappointed with it's location. It was situated behind the kitchen and services area which meant that you could not sit on the balcony without smelling the kitchen cooking. There was also the constant sound of either a generator or extractor fans. What was worse was on the first morning at around 6 a.m. a stream of trucks arrived making deliveries or removing rubbish - it was extremely noisy and went on for hours. We asked at reception for a better room which they provided but we had to pay a supplement. Beware when booking to check the location of the room. « Show less
What a lovely hotel, beautiful surroundings. Very friendly staff and service great. Food good and tasty with a variety of dishes. My friends and I are here at the moment and enjoying it all despite the weather. The only thing I would say the hotel is lacking is entertainment. There are thunderstorms outside so we can't get outside and that is fine but it would be better if the hotel could provide entertainment for those rainy days indoors. In the evening the entertainment is inside a little room which seats about 70 people but the hotel has about 500 guests. It would be lovely if the main bar area had music playing throughout the day and night so you had something other than just people sitting around chatting to help with entertainment. Over all it is lovely and a really nice place to stay its just that lack of entertainment that lets them down. As there is no indoor pool you can walk across to another hotel and pay to use their indoor pool which is fine for us but not fair if you have children. So in this weather everyone is just sitting around indoors. Not quite the holiday I was planning for. If entertainment was sorted for rainy days then I would highly recommend this place.
I returned a few days from Sol Aurora Umag.I've seen an earlier review, I think you are a subjective one.People really do their job at Sol Aurora, everything was great. Cleanliness, order and especially smiling people. The room where I stood (265) overlooking the entrance was very quiet.Cleaning was done daily without feeling, changing towels, etc.In terms of food, the assortment was different and did not happen again every day.The beach is really made of cement, but so are most of the beaches in Croatia. The entertainment was pretty well organized because families with children were predominant. Thanks to Sol Aurora for superb holiday
After reading some of the previous reviews, I was unsure of what to expect, but as a couple in our early 30's we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and stay in the Sol Aurora. The hotel is part of a complex formed with several other hotels along the coast. You do have the option to dine out in two of the other hotels for one evening through your stay, we didn't do this but it was available through our tour operator. The hotel room was ideal for what we needed. It was spacious enough, plenty of wardrobe space and was cleaned daily. We never saw any of the housekeeping staff, but towels were exchanged daily, although one day they did give us hand towels as oppose to full sized bath towels, beds were made up. We had a room on the third floor at the front of the hotel. We had no issues with noise from outside or connecting rooms, however I will sleep through any thing! The all inclusive wasn't as great as I have experienced at other hotels, we ate lunch at the hotel daily, but did choose to eat out in the evenings. I think a more varying choice in all inclusive drinks would be a bonus but I still found some thing to drink. There are several restaurants within walking distance, each we found reasonably priced and of a good quality. Both myself and my partner had a birthday during our week stay, and the hotel management very nicely put a bottle of sparkling wine and a note in our room for each one, which was a nice touch. The hotel was situated in a nice area on the 'beach'. There isn't actually any sand, and its very rocky, so would advise buying some shoes for the water which can be purchased in the town for approx. £8, they were a blessing when wanting to go for a swim. We also hired a car for two days, again cheap enough to do, our tour operator arranged this for us in the hotel. We took a day trip ourselves to Lake Bled in Slovenia, worked out cheaper than paying for both of us to go through the tour operator and meant we could go at our own pace. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to return to Croatia again, not sure if this hotel has the option to stay without being all inclusive as we wouldn't choose that option again but I wouldn't hesitate to return either way.
From all Sol hotel's in Umag this one is the worst. It's way to expensive for the service they offer. Isolation is bad you hear everything so be prepared to wake up earlier than you wanted. Food is average every one can find something to eat but nothing will make you say mmmm it was delicious. One great thing about this hotel is the location.
I really dont know where to start with this hotel. They declare themselves as a 4* hotel. I spent 3 nights there. The rooms are furbished with cheapest possible furniture, imitation of wood, and look much more as a college dorm then the hotel. Doors & windows look like they are from 19th Century, possibly even older. TV Set is an old CRT with like 12 inch screen. The terrace in my room had a prison style fence with massive bars stuck into concrete. Want to sleep? Sorry, but if you re on the park view side my room was right above the main delivery point for the supply trucks and they start unloading stuff like food and laundry from like 06.00-06.30 a.m., of course with shouting, engine noise, slamming doors etc. Cleaning ladies starting vacuum cleaning from like 8.00 a.m. on weekends. Delightful. Choice of cosmetics in the bathroom is pathetic - single tube for hair, body and hands. No beach towels, thats extra charged. Every time someone in the room above you uses toilet you got a feeling everything falls directly on you as a waterfall, never in my life heared noiser sewer. Food is self service, but very average, I ate much better in college restaurant. Staff is friendly and polite but its obvious that they are hired temporarily not a regular hotel staff. Half with no working uniforms and etiquete&education for this job. Anyway, the worst value for money I experienced in a long time ( 170 Eur/day), July 2017..
Sol Aurora HOTEL - all inclusive ??? Never ever again... Very dissapointing stay. This is not 4star hotel even more not all inclusive.. We arrived at 10am - staff told us, rooms will be ready at 14, so waiting for the check in till14. When we came to our room, room was still dirty after last visitors. We found maid and told her about the room. So we were waiting for next 45min. So the room was ready before 15. - It is not 4stars hotel. The room is not 4stars - TV, furnitures - very very old style. Eletric drawers are very dangers in all hotel - especially for children. They are not fastened to the wall, so the cabels are free too touch. When we let the towels on the floor, after cleaning room, towels were still on the floor and not changed. I have to find the maid and asked for clean towels. The manners of the reception was despise after she get know, that our booking was with Booking.com. The Mini club and Mini disco was fine, but - why is the terrace and the place before stage - SMOKING AREA ? WHY NO SMOKING AREA - Kids who are there, have to breathe the cigarette smoke. - This is not 4stars hotel and even more not for your kids. I miss more climbing frames for kids. The neatness (order) is getting down and down during the day. The toilets /on the floors) are not cleaning during the day, so afternoon you will find full baskets of dirty towels on the floor... - not 4stars hotel. Not proper cleaning in the room during the week. The halls the same - not cleaning all the week. The Cleanliness gets worse during the day. The toilets are not cleaning during the day, so in the afternoon you will find full baskets of dirty towels on the floor ... - not a 4 star hotel. Cleaning during all the week is not sufficient in the room. Halls the same - unclean all week. One man in the bar was all right - the other with the glasses was terrible. You see the wrong behavior with the Czechs, but the Germans are all right - Why? We paid the same price. The meals are not for 4stars hotel. - Maybe for 2stars max... Why is not for all the day anywhere ice cream for kids - just at dinner ? If you plan to sleep before 11PM you better not stay in a sea facing room, they have a band that plays at maximum level. The walls are so thin and the windows so old.. You hear all the sounds in room from the upstairs, it is just like the drops or water falls down on you... :) - if you want sunbed, you have to wake up before 7 and "fight" by the pool for one. 4stars hotel - with not own room sunbed by the pool or by the sea ? WHY Evening bar - barman was talking with his own friends and not ready for hotel quests. NO more this hotel.
Nice hotel. Staff were very good in helping me find something suitable to eat as I have a few food intolerances. Sladania, (hope that's correct spelling) was very good in organising a nice meal I could have, on several occasions. Also Anita was very helpful and being attentive and informative. Room nice and clean. Location was a bit out the way.
