The Claremont Hotel

My wife wanted to visit the IOM so went on line and chose the Claremont hotel. We received a friendly greeting on arrival and as we were on the 3rd floor pleased to see the lift was working (recent experience says they don't always) as we had a couple of heavy suitcases, however on reaching 3rd floor realised we still had stairs to contend with but not a major problem. The room was nice though a little cramped but had large comfortable bed which is a plus for me. The bathroom was very spacious with his and hers basins. Considering how large it was the shower was not, but it was acceptable with decent water pressure. Both rooms had excellent views of the bay. The hotel is in an ideal location. The food was average with breakfasts fairing better than dinner and it's not cheap to stay here. The service was quite good and the staff were polite. The real downside was the fire alarm which went off a number of times. The second time the hotel was evacuated at 5.00am until 2 fire engines arrived and eventually gave the all clear. Apparently there may have been a fire in the kitchen. The problem was every time the alarm went off afterwards you didn't know if it was false or not.

My wife and I have just spent a brilliant weekend in Douglas Isle of Man as winners of a Manx Tourist Board competition. We received a two night B&B stay at the fabulous Claremont Hotel with charming views across Douglas Bay. As expected both the hotel and service were superb, staff very friendly and accommodating and breakfast was gorgeous including the famous Manx kippers. The hotel is perfectly located for access to shops, bars and restaurants and public transport from Airport stops right outside. We would certainly recommend The Claremont and look forward to returning in the future.

Wow room was excellent. huge shower ,large bed very machine in room I can't fault this 5 star plus for me Staff were awesome. And right on the sea front. Plenty of power points , a safe in the room. A fridge in the room. We were upgraded to business class . 2 bedroom two nice size modern TVs, Tea and coffee downstairs awesome fast and fresh. This seems to be the hotel every lucky so and so gets not me , I love it can't wait to come back. This was a buisines trip and it made my job here so easy as I was delighted with the room If your coming the isle of Mann look no further stop here

Excellent room for my wife and I overlooking the bay but not such a good view for elderly relative staying in single room at the back (also noisy AC outside at back). Rooms very clean, staff excellent and food (breakfast and dinner) very good. Although there's a lift there's still some (short) stairs to negotiate to get to most rooms. Overall very pleased with the stay and would certainly use again.

Hotel excellent, room very small but very clean. Breakfast = good choices, Dinner - have had better. Staff couldn't have been more helpful. Went with Great rail journeys - would not use them again - they didn't tell you it's not a holiday for people with disabiities - but we managed with the help of hotel staff, they were superb.

Have just returned from a four night stay at the Claremont Hotel. The members of staff were very pleasant and the breakfasts were very good but the bedroom was very poor. Not only was it very small, but the window looked out onto a concrete wall just a few feet away which totally blocked out everything including most of the light so even when it was bright sunshine outside I needed the light on. This room, in my opinion, was only worthy of use as a store room yet I had to pay £145 per night for the privilege of staying there and it was certainly not worthy of a four star rating!

We were there during the TT. There was an obnoxiously loud carnival right outside our window that shut down around midnight each night. We found out it's been there for several years. The hotel should have been up front with us at the time of booking about the noise that they knew we would endure. We could have reserved one of the rooms in back. Staff in the bar were nice. Believe me we got to know them well.

I stayed for 1 night only whilst on business. Hotel is well located, lovely views on seafront. Reception staff was friendly. Car transfer available from/to airport £25 that can be charged to the room. Computer available in reception area. I had booked a single room, which was rather small (room 204) with no view (the window was facing a wall) - it was not a problem as I only stayed for 1 night. The room was near the lift but no noise disturbance. Well equipped room. Good breakfast.

We had an absolutely amazing three night stay here when we were watching the TT. Great room, excellent staff, fabulous wine list and food. Motorbike parked right out side, superb. Couldn't have been made more welcome, even in leathers.

This Hotel is right on the seafront with a great view of the bay. The rooms are excellent with a superkingsized bed and amazing double sized bathroom. The breakfast service was fantastic with a huge choice of cooked and continental foods.
