My wife and I stayed here for one night on the fall golf special. We wish it could of been longer. We had a view room in the main lodge. It was a view of the water. It was nice but would of prefered the Highland view. Next year we will request a certain view. The room was very clean and comfortable. My husband loved the golf too. The food was very good at the Alduaine restaurant and breakfast was very good too. The staff are all friendly. We look forward to our next visit
We spent 5 days travelling around Cape Breton and golfing at several courses. We arrived at the Keltic Lodge late at night and had no idea what beauty was awaiting us!! Our room was spacious and very nicely decorated, bathroom updated and clean. The bed was extremely comfortable. The front desk people were very friendly and kind!!! In the morning when we opened the curtains it took my breath away!! The view was stunning!! Breakfast each morning was delicious and all of the staff were very courteous and helpful. We were made to feel very welcome and Sally was especially helpful in our booking and ensuring our stay was excellent The food at the restaurant was very good and the view again was stunning!! The golf was challenging and very fun. I am definitely going back, hopefully bringing my sons with me to spend more time in Cape Breton!! Thank you for the great memories and for making our trip so amazing!!!
This was our second year in a row staying here and it was just as great this time as it was the last. The rooms where lovely, spacious, clean, and the beds where super comfy. The bathroom was beautiful and the shower had great water pressure. We checked in at 3 and took our time hiking the Middle Head Trail, taking in the gorgeous views and watching a beautiful sunset over the mountains and Ingonish harbour as we returned. The buffet style breakfast was hot & delicious and such a generous amount of options. The service staff were friendly and attentive. They didn’t hover, but still kept our coffee cups topped up and our dirty dishes cleared. Likewise, the warm atmosphere and expertly prepared meals at the Arduaine restaurant is always a treat. We look forward to our road trips to Ingonish every year and our stay at the Keltic Lodge is the highlight. After a long day of driving, hiking, and other adventures, the comfort & luxury of the Keltic lodge is the perfect way to end or start one of those days.
We were looking forward to staying at this "venerable old inn" and were surprised and disappointed with the state it was in. We had a King Cottage bedroom and it was freezing when we arrived. The furniture was old and worn. The phone didn't work so had to go back to the front desk to get someone to get our heat working. Then once working the room got so hot we had to turn it off - that seemed to be the way the heater worked - full on or off. There was a common room in the cottage but it too was so cold it was not comfortable for sitting - the heaters didn't seem to work in there either. We did go for the entertainment one evening which was fine but the lounge it was in was, again, worn and tired. Breakfast is a large buffet with the usual scrambled eggs, pancakes etc. Nothing special although the service was pleasant. Given that the breakfast was so ordinary we decided to cancel our dinner reservation and go elsewhere. We did enjoy the Middle Head Trail hike right from our room. Maybe the government should let an actual hotelier operate the Inn.
Stayed here with a group of friends for one night over Thanksgiving weekend. We all had rooms in the Corson House and everyone was satisfied with their accommodations Food in the dining room was excellent . Only criticism is the service was lacking and the bar was seriously low on liquor choices. We were told it was due to the fact they were closing for the season soon.
If you are visiting Cape Breton, I highly recommend the experience of staying at the Keltic Lodge. I am not a golfer so I am only commenting on the accommodations. To start, the location is a visual masterpiece. I live in Nova Scotia and when I come here I imagine I am in Scotland or some other picturesque location in the world. Being on its own peninsula, the jagged shoreline and cliffs are visible from practically everywhere. There is a strong and romantic sense of history here.It isn't old enough to support this, but I can picture Alexander Graham Bell having been here and invented the telephone after being so inspired at the need of wanting to spread the word of how beautiful this place is. I am not a diva or someone who demands the best of everything. But, I can tell you the experience was spectacular. I wanted to relax, eat well, have access to natures best while also the necessity of modern wifi/connectivity (fast). The bed was incredibly comfortable and the bathroom/shower were perfect. Everything was clean. Everything worked. If you like pancakes, be sure to try the blueberry cinnamon pancakes for breakfast. If you feel as though you want to get checked in to your room but also wanting to press your adventure time in the Highlands, simply hike the trail behind the lodge. It was the perfect trail offering a bit of everything while still being close to "home". I will be back again!
My four friends and I (photographers from Halifax) stayed at the Keltic Lodge for the Oct 19th weekend. I was anxious about sharing a room with someone else with a busy itinerary ahead of us, but this place was quick to quiet my nerves. The rooms were fully equipped with everything we needed and boasted the most comfortable beds I have slept in in the Maritimes. We were able to plan our days with quick wifi access and get ready comfortably with a lot space to spread all our camera gear and equipment, large and clean bathrooms to clean up in, and views that took our breath away when we left the room. The hotel team was always polite and looking to accommodate. We had breakfast at the lodge which includes delicious pancakes and a variety of alternatives. I enjoyed the following amenities most: clean rooms, large and clean updated bathrooms, quick wifi access, killer property views atop ocean view mountains and nestled among magical birch trees and winding roads. There are trails around the property that will feed any soul looking to reset. I’m so glad we chose to stay at the Keltic Lodge this past weekend; This place is a gem. Thank you to the hospitable staff that were the cake topper to our wonderful weekend in the incredible highlands of Cape Breton Island 🙏🏻♥️
This location is so fantastic! The grounds, the views and the hiking trail - all really great. King bed very comfortable and the hardwood floor in our room was lovely. The bathroom was very old and in need of an overhaul. The food is terrible! There are 3 huge rooms with beautiful hardwood floors that COULD be so fantastic... whoever owns/runs this place has no vision! The main dining room is mediocre. The Aurduaine restaurant on a Friday night had a terrible BUFFET! Why? Breakfast – only BUFFET and mediocre at best; no menu choices. The bar/lounge area could be an awesome space; instead, the bar is tiny and can barely serve 3 people at a time... the room is vast and filled with couches and chairs; they had one guy singing at one end - they have lots of room for a full band, dancing and/or a huge bar and lots of energy ... this space is wasted. The Aurduaine restaurant could be their second option for dinner - a Bistro style - fun, happening with a great menu and be very different from the main dining room - to give guests an option. So disappointing and unless we hear that things change drastically, we won't be back. Go up and walk around the grounds, take in the views but don't waste your money staying here!
Was really looking forward to our stay at the Keltic Lodge. How disappointing. Our room on the second floor of the lodge had a sticky toilet handle so it had to be ‘jiggled’. Was able to get a reservation at Purple Thistle for both nights. The service was horrible and really unprofessional - especially as it is an expensive dinner. The facilities appeared tired. On Saturday night after dinner went to the lounge to listen to the entertainer. A wedding party was having their rehearsal party and were extremely loud. Disrespectful to the performer and other guests.
We were fortunate to stay here Sept. 9-12th and had an amazing time. The power was restored half hour before our arrival. Despite the weather, the staff outdid themselves to make sure everyone was safe and well cared for. Food was awesome. We should have booked longer and used this as our base camp. Hope to go back someday.
