A centrally placed hotel in Rennes we stayed in as a part of our Trafalgar tour, it was nice to just flop on the bed after a long hot day visiting Mont Saint-Michel. The room was a good size but one thing was immediately apparent, the air conditioning was not working, initially I thought due to fan being on low. Having upped the fan to high, and temperature to 5 degrees I hoped for that much desired relief from the day's heat, but it never came. Breakfast this morning was quite reasonable, though I just partook in the cereal and coffee. Generally a good stay, just unfortunate the cooling.
Just some older fixtures and not as many amenities. Needed some upkeep on bathroom. Breakfast nice. Elevators extremely small and unable to keep up with traffic. Had to pack super close and wait long periods and stairs we're not clearly marked
This place was booked for me so I didn't pay for it. Good things was the location, easy access to metro and train station. Shopping center and grocery store was near by. Sleep quality was pretty good, but the runs in the hallway are just old and tired. They only use plastic glasses in the rooms. Lobby is small and bar is almost non-existent. Better friendlier places to stay but I think they used this book about 20 of us for a conference.
Staff are nice. Room is big and clean. Breakfast is fabulous. Location is also very good. There is a commercial centre nearby. Restaurants and supermarket are just within a 3 minute walk. Certainly will come back if opportunities arise.
We stayed five nights in this hotel which we wanted to use as our 'base camp' for daily excursions to well-known places in the eastern portion of Brittany and parts of Normandy. The hotel turned out to be an ideal place to do this, as in our case we did most of our travel by train and the SNCF train station is three minutes from the hotel. The hotel is also good for exploring the trendy rue Vaisselot area of Rennes and further north the historic town centre, including the magnificent Parlement de Rennes. We had a twin bed double room with a very sizeable flat screen TV set and amenities that typically come with a Mercure hotel. We used the free coffee in the room every morning and the room service diligently replenished the supply of instant coffee. Even though the hotel has likely more than 100 rooms (it has six upper floors), we found it a very quiet place, and this also in spite of the proximity of a shopping centre with cinema. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this hotel and will definitely consider returning there if we return to Brittany (which is also very likely - we had a whale of time exploring this part of France, together with neighbouring Normandy where we traced ancestry of family members who came to New France in 1671.
Good, practical, great breakfast andnice location, all you need for a business trip to Rennes Near the train station( walking distance) and a 15 minute cab drive to the airport Also near restaurants and walking distance to the center and historic part of the city
Our room was great and bathroom was fine. We looked out onto one of the major shopping centers with lots of trees. It was sometimes challenging to find the underground parking. This hotel provided a perfect jump-off point to areas of interest in Normandy and Brittany
The room is nice and the bed is very comfortable. Bathroom a bit grubby but ok. Breakfast pretty good including a hot selection. Only 1 English Channel on the TV. Everything closed on Sunday. Free wifi. Reception very good and very polite.
I went to Rennes because of I had some meetings on the city. I did not have any information on the city and I was thinking that the hotel was in the city Centre (old town), nevertheless it was not the case. From my point of view, on this kind of small cities, it is better to be on the old town. Nevertheless, it is a very small city and it is needed only 15 minutes by walking to go to the “old town”. One of the good points is that it is possible to free park the car on the car park close this hotel. Un addition, a very good point was the breakfast. It was very good but it was expensive (17.90€ per day and person).
this was my 3rd time in this hotel - and it was nice again! the staff was smiley and polite, the room was quiet and i rested very well. some details are a bit worn but i guess the management knows and plans some updating. the style is a bit dated but it has a certain charm of old times. the breakfast was very rich with local foods and a wide selection of pretty much everything-a nice start of the day! i appreciated that the foods were not the cheapest varieties as is usually seen in some hotels-this was freshly presswdnorange juice, good meaty things(indo not know names of all those things but they were good quality!)-also the location is great and i consider it a great place to recuperate on a busy day. i guess i really dislike the hotel having just one big bottle of shower gel/shampoo -i want to feel like a welcome guest and this svreams "savings"also no earbuds pr lotions, and minibar only had water.i know reception has some gruit juice etc but when i feel like having a juice in the middle of the night i do not want to go there-it is a prz pf a hptel experience to have this luxury-but maybe it is way less important for others.overall i loved my stay!
