Mercure Rennes Centre Gare4.0 out of 5.0

Superb location, with a large car park underneath the hotel. Very easy access to shopping centre, concert hall and the metro is only a minutes walk away. Town Centre an easy walk or only 1 or 2 stops away on the metro, depending which area you require. Hotel staff were effecient and the hotel more than matched our needs for a short stay.
Whilst this hotel is not immediately in front of the gare as others are, it is only a 5-10 min walk which is very easy. When you arrive it is also very convenient for the city. The only problem was initially finding the entrance - you can see the large "Mercure" sign but the actual entrance is down a side street. My only staff complaint was both on arrival and departure where there was a single member of staff on reception so both check in and out took a while. My room faced the main street and pedestrian area, but despite this there was no noise and I slept well. There is a bar but it closes at 22:00, so not much use.... Room was very clean and feature rich.
I rate Mercures on a Par with Premier Inn's in the UK. Some are modern and some are a bit dated. This hotel is geared up for business and conferences. The rooms are a bit tired and the bathrooms need a refresh. The bedding seemed clean but had a stale smell to it. The breakfast was the usual European spread, a coffee machine used pods and took a long time to get a cuppa when it was busy. There was no restaurant available for an evening meal but there is a good restaurant next door at the front street. The reception was bright and smelt really nice when you walk in but the corridors on the floor stayed on smelt stale. There is no fitness suite in this hotel. There is no hotel car park but the public underground one is next door is connected but you pay normal rates of approx €10 a night. I saw 2 other Mercures in the city centre so check which one you want.
Mercure are a pretty reliable name for a business hotel. This is good - not exactly high-end luxury, but quite adequate for a night or a few on business. The rooms are clean, comfortable and equipped with the essentials. The breakfast is again fairly standard, but done reliably well. The location is great for the train station. It's about 450m away and quite an easy walk. From the hotel it's then an easy walk into the town centre for the restaurants etc. Would I stay here again - if visiting Rennes on business and coming by train - yes.
This Mercure is located within 10min walking distance from the railway station in Rennes next to shopping centre. It doesn't have a restaurant, only bar, but offers room service from the restaurant nearby with delivery to your room. Breakfast was standard but I missed here fruit salad.
The lobby of the hotel is renovated and beautiful and the staff is nice. But that's all. The location in not at the center. It's near the center and in Rennes this is important. The room is awful. Old furniture (really different from the pictures) small window and depressing decoration.
Excellent hotel in a central location. I was part of a group that recently spent a weekend in this lovely city. The hotel is modern and the rooms are good sized with decent bathrooms. A good buffet breakfast was provided. The bed and breakfast rate was reasonable for a city centre hotel.
A centrally placed hotel in Rennes we stayed in as a part of our Trafalgar tour, it was nice to just flop on the bed after a long hot day visiting Mont Saint-Michel. The room was a good size but one thing was immediately apparent, the air conditioning was not working, initially I thought due to fan being on low. Having upped the fan to high, and temperature to 5 degrees I hoped for that much desired relief from the day's heat, but it never came. Breakfast this morning was quite reasonable, though I just partook in the cereal and coffee. Generally a good stay, just unfortunate the cooling.
Just some older fixtures and not as many amenities. Needed some upkeep on bathroom. Breakfast nice. Elevators extremely small and unable to keep up with traffic. Had to pack super close and wait long periods and stairs we're not clearly marked
This place was booked for me so I didn't pay for it. Good things was the location, easy access to metro and train station. Shopping center and grocery store was near by. Sleep quality was pretty good, but the runs in the hallway are just old and tired. They only use plastic glasses in the rooms. Lobby is small and bar is almost non-existent. Better friendlier places to stay but I think they used this book about 20 of us for a conference.
