Hôtel Kyriad Rennes Nord3.0 out of 5.0

The room seemed quite tired without any view but was perfectly adequate for the purpose and as expected for the price. Breakfast was OK and coffee and tea available without charge in the reception area free of charge on arrival. The metro was a quarter of an hour's walk away but well worth leaving the car at the hotel and using the trains to get to the city centre without any hassle.
First time using Kyriad hotels, pleasantly surprised we chose this for easy access on arrival from St Michel, slightly out of the way for centre of Rennes, about a 10 minute drive, hotel room exceptionally clean and comfortable and would recommend this chain to anyone
We stayed 03/08/17 - 07/08/17. The room was very small and felt a little dated but very clean. We were on the second floor but unfortunately no lift - usually no problem there but not good for guests with access requirements or heavy bags! Unfortunately the hotel is not in a convenient location with very little around - however the metro is about a 15 minute walk away with good links to the city centre. Breakfast was a good continental selection. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed as the chef was on holiday - which meant the only option was to go to the city centre to eat lunch/dinner. There is an excellent food market on a Saturday morning (the second largest in France!) so don't forget your shopping bags - traders are reluctant to give you anything! One problem we have in France is that they do not cater for vegetarians so it was difficult to cater for our son. However - Danielle - the very friendly and helpful lady on reception (during the evenings) gave us some tips on restaurants that are 'vegetarian friendly', she did make it very clear that France is not good for non-meat/fish eaters. One good burger restaurant is the Back to the 60's American style diner. They offer roughly 25 choices, all of which can be made with beef, chicken or soya burgers. Always worth checking these in advance as many were closed for holidays!
We chose this hotel as it was recommended as a good place to stop over when driving back to UK from Spain via France. We were given Room 101 which whilst very clean and comfortable was directly above the reception area. We had to sleep with the windows open as it was very hot (no air con) so did experience some noise due to people standing outside smoking late at night. That said considering the cost, location and food I have rated it 4/5 and would definitely use it again should the need arise. WE ate at the hotel as there isn't really anything else within walking distance and having driven all day we didn't fancy driving. Our evening meal cost just under 50 euros - m y husband had moule, which he said were very good, whilst I had a very good home made burger. We also had a bottle of wine. Breakfast was good with lots to choose from - continental style of course. Excellent coffee making machine with lots of variations to choose from - tea selection good as well.
We had a two-night stay here. It was very comfortable and very convenient. We did not eat in but this looked ok. We would definitely consider staying again as a stop-over. It is not in the centre of Rennes so a car is necessary.
We booked here for an overnight stay on our way back from Disneyland Paris. Pretty difficult to find at first as it is down lots of little tiny residential roads and is tucked back at the end of a dead end. The reception staff were very good and coped with our limited understanding of French! We had requested 2 inter-connecting rooms which were provided. Very simple check in. Rooms had 3 single beds, a tv telephone and small bathroom with sink, toilet and bath with hand held shower + a hair dryer, soap, towels, shower gel/shampoo etc. Beds were comfortable and clean. No tea and coffee tray in the room but there is free facilities for making tea and coffee (along with biscuits) in the reception area which you can take back to your room. Unfortunately, the restaurant was temporarily closed for evening meals but there are plenty of restaurants and fast food outlets within 10 minutes drive. We did not have the breakfast as wanted to make an early start in the morning so drove to a nearby supermarche for croissants to eat in the car. Overall, a pleasant stay and would certainly stay again.
Basic but reasonably comfortable hotel in a quiet area of Rennes near the University. A car is essential if you want to stay here and there is plenty of parking available. The room and bathroom were small but the price was good. Staff were helpful. Our only complaint was there were no screens on the windows and no other ventilation in the rooms. Each time we opened the window we had moths flying in. Otherwise, we felt we were getting what we paid for.
We were traveling through France and opted to stay at this hotel for one night as we were passing through the area. The room was small but tidy. Everything we needed for a good night was available. The restaurant was very good.
We booked this hotel for the two nights we were staying in Rennes. We chose it because the postcode was very near to the friends we were visiting. It looked nice on the website photo and we were not disappointed. Reception were great - very helpful. The room was smallish but very clean and nicely, recently decorated and, at our request, non-smoking. There were also extra pillows provided. Even more important in winter there was an individual, room-controlled radiator. The bathroom too was impeccable and there was another heater there too. We were not bothered about getting hot drinks etc., but if we had been we would have preferred them to be available in the room and not where they are in the reception area. The free parking was great-just by the entrance to the hotel. The buffet breakfast was good with plenty of choice of food. We were impressed with the hotel and thought it very good value for money.
This hotel is 10-minutes away from the historic centre of Rennes. You need a car to get to the hotel. We booked this hotel because of the great price. The location is fair considering its quietness. There is a free parking. Our room was quite small, and the beds were narrow and somehow uncomfortable. The bathroom was very small too. They were clean though. The service at reception wasn't the greatest - the girl was slow, didn't speak very good English. We decided not to have breakfast as we could get better choice of fresh food at a much nicer price elsewhere. There are so many bakeries in France that you actually don't need to pay for the pricey breakfast at hotels. However, the hotel is okay for the money.
