The facilities should have been a lot better. Your website states you have foxtel available however was advised not available at your location. Your website should be updated noting that this is not available at Wollongong location. More facilities including a swimming pool and sauna etc should also be available. Only a gym is not reasonable. The receptionist did not mention about member discounts like the free drink, food deals etc. Overall was very disappointed with our stay. As a member and often stay at Mantra accommodation.. this is the first time staying at Wollongong and was very disappointed. Will not be referring any family and friends there
When I think Mantra, I think of a lovely resort. The Mantra at Wollongong did not live up to the Mantra standard. Very disappointing that that the resort did not have a pool, I should have checked, but just assumed that it would, because it is a Mantra. The view from the balcony was of the roof top of a car park and the appartments were very out dated and old. Then when checking out the lady at the reception was really rude, charging us an extra $40 for a roller away bed. I tried to explain that the rooms and the roller bed was paid in full 2 weeks prior to us staying, as this was the Mantras policy. (Which I think is ridiculous, why can’t you just pay when you arrive). She argued with me for a while because her piece of paper said it was not paid, even though I could produce my receipt and finally advised that she would reverse the transaction. If this is not reverse you are going to have one very angry customer. I have stayed at Mantra resorts before and they have been fantastic, Wollongong Mantra did not live up to this standard. Very disappointing.
Firstly the parking ... There is no parking at the front of the apartments, but if you swing into the underground carpark there's a speaker on a pole, tell them you're checking in, and they'll open the carpark doors Lifts and luggage trolleys (always a bonus) We stayed in one bedroom, corner apartment # 306. There was no balcony on this apartment. Large windows, with views over the adjacent carpark, city and distant water. Kitchen had bare basics in the way of cooking and eating utensils. You can call reception if you need more. The apartment had a 4-seater dining table, a small desk, coffee table and one settee. Small selection of local wines / snacks for sale. The washer and dryer worked well. The airconditioning and wi-fi worked well. The bed was comfortable, and we had a quiet sleep. The apartment was not luxurious, but it was modern, clean and functional with everything we needed for one night. There is a chinese grocery store just a short stroll from the hotel, which does sell basics.
Great stay in a modern and very spacious apartment, big enough to live in ! Had everything we needed and even a washing machine. Staff weren't so cheery on check in but all was very smooth. Would definitely stay here again
Stayed there on Saturday night . Booked for three people which was made very clear when checked in. Was told that there was a sofa bed for the third person . Got to room. Went out came back late realised not bedding for sofa no towels for third person. Had to sleep on the lounge all night for almost $400 night . Staff on reception couldn't offer refund but did offer free breakfast . Floor was quite dirty . Stains on furniture . Floor dirty in lift . Table quite unclean in breakfast area. Anyway not worth the money.
Easy to find. Rooms have views but there is building work going on around the hotel. Some things were a bit tired but generally it was clean and comfortable. The staff are very helpful and nothing is too much trouble. There is breakfast but no other restaurant.
The apartment had very limited kitchen utensils and when I enquired about the possibility of using extra kitchen utensils I was told they were unavailable. The room did not meet the specifications we had requested. A queen bed is not two single beds pushed together. The building was situated in a less than convenient location to the main tourist area at the beach. Our room had no view. The room key did not work so family members could not access the room individually. The key also did not operate the basement car opening gate which was very inconvenient.
Stayed 2 nights in a 2BR room was adequate and well appointed. But tired with several damages not repaired. Was overall OK, but not to standard of other Mantra properties. The staff were helpful, but the entertainment system was quite clunky.
We stayed in a 2 bedroom on the first floor and it was big! The balcony was massive; you could literally have a party of 50 people. The rooms were not as clean; carpet had stains, walls were abit dirty and the kitchen wasnt as clean, although, it was still good considering the price. Receptionist was really friendly and loved that they have secure car parking.
The location for this hotel is fantastic in regards to proximity to the hospitals and local restaurants. We stayed here for a couple of nights when my son was in the private hospital. Beds are clean and comfy. Room was cleaned too. Good pressure in the shower, which we love. My only let down was breakfast. I know these are apartments but not everyone has time to shop and cook so we looked for breakfast and after seeing photos on a poster in the lift of what brekky would be, we went down. VERY VERY limited choice and of poor quality. We only had time for toast and we were VERY disgruntled to learn that there is no option other than the full breakfast (a continental option should be offered). It was a very expensive breakfast for toast (which was very stale/frozen bread!) No, I did not take this up with reception as we had to leave in a hurry. Finally, it is refreshing to know you don't have to pay for parking!
