Mantra, Wollongong, offers a comfortable stay with spacious, clean and full kitchen apartments which is highly useful for families. It is located at center of the town so makes it easy to visit restaurants and supermarkets.
We had a wedding unfortunately on the same night as Nitro circus. One of the only place with any availabilties. They only had a superior room left. I don't know what made it superior🤔 The bed was good but the noises from the pipes in the bedroom were terrible as was the cleanliness and state of furniture inside and out.
Stayed here recently for one night, friendly and professional service at check in, and no problems with underground parking. First impressions of the room were that it was very clean throughout but exceptionally hot with the sun streaming in through living room and bedroom windows. Thankfully air con in the living area but not in the bedroom where only a pedestal fan was provided. The kitchen was perfectly adequate for our needs, there was a large spacious bathroom and a very comfortable bed. The location of this Mantra is a let down though, there is very little in the way of choice for restaurants within walking distance.
I have stayed with Mantra before but this place seriously needs refurbishment. Walls were chipped, bathroom not inviting as we had to use a rubber broom to push the water into the drain and the shower rail was rusted. it’s definitely not worth the money paid.
The rooms were clean and tidy but not very homely. The bathrooms were clean and the shower excellent with a beautiful full stream. Having the toilet in the bathroom did make the room a tight fit right next to the shower door. There was a minimum of crockery and cutlery in the kitchen and the plates were dirty- like they had been put back from the dishwasher without being washed. Restaurant facilities were not close by except for a Thai restaurant and a pizza place that delivered. It’s not really a place you can park the car and walk around the place for a look. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Excellent service, very professional, clean and spacious rooms with great view.. Overall, one of the most awesome experiences I have had in a hotel stay... would highly recommend for anyone travelling Wollongong
We asked to be moved from the first room we were put into as it was in pretty poor condition for the excessive rate we were charged. Even though the carpets had been replaced and some painting had been done in the room, much of the furniture was marked / scraped / damaged and it was certainly not up to the standard of the room rate. We were moved after 1 night, and the 2nd room was significantly better.
On our way up to the room there were bags of dirty laundry in the lifts and hallways. Lifts take ages as staff use them also as they don’t have a service elevator. Very inconvenient.. When we finally got up to our floor there was bags of dirty laundry again scattered throughout the hallway. There was about 8 rooms on our level all of them had the front doors open. Some were occupied by guests as we could see there personal belongings. Not very safe for them or there possessions as I’m not sure they knew staff had opened the doors to there rooms. Wet paint signs on the floor entryways of 3 of the rooms. We entered our room and immediately we noticed how filthy it was and how bad and smelt. So bad I exited our room and went in search of a staffer in the open rooms on our floor. Couldn’t find anyone. Even in the open rooms with guests belongings in them. If I was a thief I could have walked away with their possessions. I found a staffer coming out of the lift and asked her to follow me and we went back to my room. I showed her the smell and we were given some air freshener. It did mask the smell but should have been sprayed prior to our arrival. When we entered the kitchen area the cupboards and drawers in the were all open. The staffer apologised and closed them. It looked really untidy. The worst is yet to come though... We were heading out for dinner and noticed that the rollaway bed we had booked and paid for for our daughter was not in our room so I thought I’d call reception to see when they intended to bring it up. I was told by a staffer that there housekeeping person had finished for the day. So my 8yo daughter would have to sleep on the sofa. She said she would bring up some linen. Disappointed and disgruntled I replied ok you bring it up and make up the sofa. She then hung up. We went for dinner and returned to find there was no linen in the room for my daughter. I immediately went down to reception to find it had closed at 7pm. I returned to my room where I dialled an emergency after hours number and the same girl answered that I spoke to earlier. I asked where the linen was and she replied if I wasn’t so rude earlier I would have got it. At this point I was furious and gave it to her. She then threatened to call the police. I hang up the phone and made up my daughters bed using 1 spare blanket we had and our clothing. Never again will I stay at Mantra... If I could give it less stars I would. This is only day 1 of a 4 night stay. Needless to say I spoke to a manager the next morning and got a refund for the other 3 nights and stayed elsewhere. The manager was unapologetic and only focused on how I spoke to her staffer on the phone. Clearly the manager has no children...
our First impression of this accomodation was the underground car park Walking from the car park to the elevator the ground was filthy from dripping garbage bags being taken to the larger bulk bin. The first room we were given the balcony was putrid and didn’t look like it had been cleaned in awhile. We asked to be moved and the next room the lounge still had sand on it from the previous guest. The location was average next to the train station. The room was actually quiet and easy to sleep in.
The customer service as soon as I checked in made me feel welcome, the staff couldn't do enough for you. The hotel itself was very nice. Few problems with the stove and the air con had an off smell come out of it. The balcony also looked like it hadn't been cleaned for a while but the apartment itself was very clean and nice.
