We asked to be moved from the first room we were put into as it was in pretty poor condition for the excessive rate we were charged. Even though the carpets had been replaced and some painting had been done in the room, much of the furniture was marked / scraped / damaged and it was certainly not up to the standard of the room rate. We were moved after 1 night, and the 2nd room was significantly better.
On our way up to the room there were bags of dirty laundry in the lifts and hallways. Lifts take ages as staff use them also as they don’t have a service elevator. Very inconvenient.. When we finally got up to our floor there was bags of dirty laundry again scattered throughout the hallway. There was about 8 rooms on our level all of them had the front doors open. Some were occupied by guests as we could see there personal belongings. Not very safe for them or there possessions as I’m not sure they knew staff had opened the doors to there rooms. Wet paint signs on the floor entryways of 3 of the rooms. We entered our room and immediately we noticed how filthy it was and how bad and smelt. So bad I exited our room and went in search of a staffer in the open rooms on our floor. Couldn’t find anyone. Even in the open rooms with guests belongings in them. If I was a thief I could have walked away with their possessions. I found a staffer coming out of the lift and asked her to follow me and we went back to my room. I showed her the smell and we were given some air freshener. It did mask the smell but should have been sprayed prior to our arrival. When we entered the kitchen area the cupboards and drawers in the were all open. The staffer apologised and closed them. It looked really untidy. The worst is yet to come though... We were heading out for dinner and noticed that the rollaway bed we had booked and paid for for our daughter was not in our room so I thought I’d call reception to see when they intended to bring it up. I was told by a staffer that there housekeeping person had finished for the day. So my 8yo daughter would have to sleep on the sofa. She said she would bring up some linen. Disappointed and disgruntled I replied ok you bring it up and make up the sofa. She then hung up. We went for dinner and returned to find there was no linen in the room for my daughter. I immediately went down to reception to find it had closed at 7pm. I returned to my room where I dialled an emergency after hours number and the same girl answered that I spoke to earlier. I asked where the linen was and she replied if I wasn’t so rude earlier I would have got it. At this point I was furious and gave it to her. She then threatened to call the police. I hang up the phone and made up my daughters bed using 1 spare blanket we had and our clothing. Never again will I stay at Mantra... If I could give it less stars I would. This is only day 1 of a 4 night stay. Needless to say I spoke to a manager the next morning and got a refund for the other 3 nights and stayed elsewhere. The manager was unapologetic and only focused on how I spoke to her staffer on the phone. Clearly the manager has no children...
our First impression of this accomodation was the underground car park Walking from the car park to the elevator the ground was filthy from dripping garbage bags being taken to the larger bulk bin. The first room we were given the balcony was putrid and didn’t look like it had been cleaned in awhile. We asked to be moved and the next room the lounge still had sand on it from the previous guest. The location was average next to the train station. The room was actually quiet and easy to sleep in.
The customer service as soon as I checked in made me feel welcome, the staff couldn't do enough for you. The hotel itself was very nice. Few problems with the stove and the air con had an off smell come out of it. The balcony also looked like it hadn't been cleaned for a while but the apartment itself was very clean and nice.
Great hotel! Super quiet... the room was spacious and clean, we loved it. Location was nice, just 15 minutes walking from the city centre. The elevator is quite slow. The offer parking which is great.
Avoid this place!!! Stayed here for 2 nights with family. The sofa bed was absolutely saturated and unusable. When we asked reception they knew about it but refused to do anything. The TV in the lounge room was broken. Again no fix. it gets worse. Tried to get my car out but it had been blocked in by staff. After a 30 point turn the staff member appeared and simply.smiled and waived. The location is opposite the train station and is a bad part of Wollongong. I have never had such a bad experience at a hotel. No care at all...I have never had the need to write a negative review before.
2 bed/2bath, kitchen, lounge and eating area was clean, comfortable and well laid out. Only one split system air conditioner that didn’t quite keep the bedrooms cool enough. No set parking bays for specific rooms, a matter of luck as to whether there is one, especially when coming back late in the night. Breakfast was below average
The washing machine was terrible and the lid was broken. Washing machine has mold everywhere. Toast machine is dirty too, nearly all the appliances are dirty and can’t be used. The breakfast buffet was $25 pp but didn’t have much you can eat. Doesn’t worth the money.
Great place. Hard to fault anything. Would be good if we could view each levels floor plan online somewhere, but all in all love the place. Great views on the balconies, and love the rooms. Good stuff Mantra Wollongong, don't change.
Very clean apartment. Had everything I needed. It was a self contained apartment with full functioning kitchen and close to public transport. I am going to book here again next time. Beach is a 5 minute drive or 30 minute walk, buses go there to.
