The hotel is old, the staff is no helpul. The rooms look like they were built in the 90s and never again renewed. The tour operator next to the hotel is overpriced and makes customer lifes difficult. The hotel is good only because of its location which is amazing.
I loved this place. The only thing its a little distant from everywhere. You go there to relax and... stay there. It´s confortable, great food, i mean, lots of food, big roons, amazing view. Warm water. Perfect to go in Summer.
I am at that exact moment staying at the Villa Gale , Angra eco resort. Beautiful place... and it just that! There is no infrastructure to please the guest ... You, should think. So, its just eating and sleeping! Sleeping, yes ... the room is very nice. But ... the food! Too bad! Any self service shopping, has more varieties than the hotel, which is considered 5 stars. I am totally disappointed with the quality of this hotel. I ve paid to much for the stay. I will never come back again I had to leave the hotel one day before. I cant eat that food!
I stayed here with my family for New Years Eve, so it was a bit crowded (of course). The food is very good and I liked that they had different options and food styles every night, so that you would not easily get bored of the options. The room was comfortable as was the rest of the hotel. Great experience.
Outstanding location, reasonably sizeable room and here is where good news ends. It is a all inclusive resort with a great breakfast and although served with plenty of food the quality is missing, they serve you with second quality meat in the grill. No beach service and not enough stretch chairs nor umbrellas are offered, leaving to guests to solve disputes for beach equipment or having to go in the middle of the night to mark chairs leaving towels and other belongings reserving chairs and umbrellas. It isn't child safe either, lots of loose tiles on the swimming pool area floor offering sharp edges and loose boards on the wooden deck are a perfect trap to ruim your very expensive vacation
We loved the place: Amazing private beach with warm water, big rooms, nice choice of food and drinks, many activities, nice pools and the nature is amazing. They fall in small things like bad wi-fi, room cleaning, some of the food quality (main restaurant is much much better than the special restaurants joke). Not enough English speaking staff but many Spanish speakers. We enjoyed our week there a lot.
We had a pleasant few days here but I wouldn't recommend this hotel. The hotel has a lovely location, the beach is great. But... the wifi is terrible, hotel decor is tired, the food is not that great especially after a few days of the same buffet, the service is ok, and its way over priced.
If you can summarize the hotel purposes: it is targeted to lower middle class families that are there for a lifetime vacation. The hotel is huge, with good facilities, located at a stunning landscape. Private beach, with warm water and amazing nature around. However when it comes to services supplying, the hotel is weak and falls short in quality and performance. The staff does not seem to be the most friendly one and smiles are scarce, you don't feel like you're really welcome there. Food is undoubtedly prepared with the worst ingredients ever and although they try hard to serve special dishes it will never become tasty if you use class D products. There is variety and quantity of food but quality is extremelly poor. The same applies to drinks and beverage - poor quality of wines, whiskeys, vodkas and non-alcoholic drinks as a whole. Bedrooms are good, with nice bed and bath linen, but room cleaning is not excellent. Bathroom comprises a bathtube which is quite fine. There was an excellent music band show that played Beatles (Orbit band) - which defintely saved one of the nights. The comedy shows are terrible, we just couldn't watch for more than 10 minutes. Pools are only cold watered, so during cloudy days there is no warm water for you and your kids. Sauna is charged in separate and Wi-fi does not work. Lastly, just pray to not feel sick - they don't take even a glass of water to the bedroom for you.
Negative points: Staff from Reception of the Hotel don't care at all about smiling or giving a nice welcome to the Guests. If you ask something they will reply to you, they do their job, but not a single smile or any extra effort to try to find another alternative for you if there is something not worling. I really didn't like the Reception Staff at all. Every day was exactly th same with them. Another very bad point for this Hotel is the WiFi. Absolutely awful, does not work almost all the time, not even in the reception area. Do not even think in trying to be connected in your bedrooms, bars, restaurants, or outside Reception area. I would like to make special mention once again to the Staff who attends the shops outside the reception area inside the Hotel. Especially that awful sales woman who attend the shoes shop (nice flip flops, ojotas, chinelas). She is brazilian, black and long hair, not very slim. She does not greet you when you enter to the shop, does not offer you any of the products that she sells. If you ask for a price she has a bitter face and only reply to you the number and that's it. I went twice and bth times she did exactly the same. She does not bother to sell anything or at least be kind with customers. I don't understand how people like her is hired to work in a place where kindness and friendliness with customer is essential. Very Good points: I travelled with my elderly mum so this Hotel was great because of the facilities easy for walking and moving around and also the own private beach does not have any steps to climb or descend. The swimming pool is massive and very clean. Really nice. Food at the restaurant is good quality but not much variety. Bathrooms are with a separate shower and a separate bath, spacious, very nice. Beds are big and very comfortable. A La carte Portuguese restaurant is very good and very good quality. The walking path in the Hoteal sorrounded by the Morros (mountains) is beautiful. The beach bar is really nice. A lot of families with children but all very good. Minibar not very complete, just water and 4 soft drinks, but nt a problem because being all inclusive you can have any drink outside the room. Staff from Bar Euphoria very kind. Same with the people who clean the tables at the main restaurant, fast and friendly. We didn't have good weather, in fact it was raining the whole of our stay (4 days, 3 nights) but the good facilities and the spaces to go around the Hotel made our stay easier despite the rain. The Hotel have some few shops but the staff who attend the shops especially the flip flop shop (chinelas/ojotas) are really bad with the customers, very unfirendly and rude.
I want to reveal some good things and other bad. The hotel is on a beautiful location ,beach front, water is warm and surrounded by amazing nature and mountains . Over all the hotel is nice well maintain but the service is not as efficient as riviera maya (winners of all inclusive !!) The workers seems tired and not as happy. Very focus and stress. I think the staff is short. I been in Brazil a Several times and Brazilean people is friendly ,happy ,will to serve ... I asked to fix my room two phones 4 times ,never did . You are allow to one device per room to use with a wifi ,connection is poor,do not work (I asked Front desk but not much what that can do) They make your bed and change towels every day but they did not remove a few dirty cups .(the room is big and looks clean but I am not that sure if they sanitized showers, toilets and mop floor and tables .they refill fridge every other day ,so get water yourself ... No room service !!! Even when you are sick . They have a nice room for preparing baby formula well equipped on each building . Great for young kids lunch room ,daycare as well entertainment not as good for teenagers. No doctor at hotel ,only a nurse for minor things, near hospital is 20 minutes ,public has long wait. Private in reales Brazilean money R$ 300 plusR$ 180 in taxes plus taxi $R 120 round trip .(hotel to Angra city) The entertainment was not as good Not as Profesional like riviera maya ! No carnival show, not dancing shows The hotel is more for family ,every body disappear by 10,11 pm . The disco club was empty or closed. The music was not world wide known kind of boring .no air on the club very hot. Last couple days the samba music nigth and the Beatles music band kind of pick u the nigth little bit . Daily activities were so so Aqua gym, dancing ,a few soccer games or volley but I am not sure if was not advertise many people did not know . The need more beach umbrellas for shading . The sauna dos was in repair. They offer massage, manicure ,pedicure ,facials . Not sauna or steam available. Great gym . The drinks they give up an small cup so you have to go several times and wait long lines because short staff one or two bartenders are in service . The food vary every day ,quality is good but I was expecting more natural juices (a lot of industrialized or process food observed like drinks ,desert , ) I wanted more squeeze orange juice !!! But I am assuming the volume of guests is high so lucky if I can get more home style . Grilled fish, chicken and beef every day!!! Good salad and fresh fruit bar !!! They have an amazing front beach great gazebo with very comfortable launch beds but is dead at nigth . One day they did wine testing with cheeses ! Around 6 pm. They do not recommend go to Angra city , I was so bore after 6 days of the same like big brother hostage !!!! I went for adventure to Angra and everything is soooooo chip that I think the hotel dont want to go because you will realized some over price in general things . I had a great taxi ,older driver ,reliable ,flexible, honest that work with us Augusto ,only speak Portuguese , but he is awesome +55 (country code ) cell 24998333888 from Ibana !!! Angra is ok ,not prepare for tourism a lot of local stores next to each other . safe ? Well I went from 9 to 7 low profile ,no jewels ,eyes on my back and my taxi driver wait or picked up to a local point . We went to paraty on a public bus very chip (2 hours trip) no air but open windows ,very fast driving but we travel well round trip! Bottom line pool or beach all day Plenty food ,long lines at bar due to short staff ,do not get sick ,no fun at nigth so go to sleep at 11 . Best drinks passion fruit daiquiri ,caipirinha fresh lime and mint ! All natural ingredients . Pina colada is not fresh ( i Tried a fresh One in Brazil Before it was the best OF My life ! I can not Get less than that !) plenty draft beer !!!!
