Despite its fresh look, the restaurant is like eating at will eat the same things every day, and don't expect to eat fresh food. They have little poor organization, they tend to limit access to the buffet and drinks, so that you must pay for it. Wtf when you are all inclusive? After 18h you must pay for the mini bus to come back if you go for a walk, otherwise you are free to use your legs for 1 km up to the hill.

Had an amazing time, met families we are still friends with now, everyone's friendly, food on site, bar, pools huge. Very safe, and the entertainment staff were always there doing activities. There was a few storms over the week, but it didn't bother us as we all made it fun.

I visited this hotel with friends , we wanted to save some money so we booked this hotel , it's nice but very noisy as there are many families with kids so if you are a party animal who likes a good sleep after a night out this place isn't for you , but if you are a family guy who wants to provide a good time for your kids I recommend this place , they have good entertainment for the kids all day long , we were allowed only 30 min free Internet a day , if you want more be prepared to pay . the breakfast is good the swimming poll is big , their stuff can speak very good English.

Loved it! Staff are so friendly, the rooms are nice but you barley see them, you only sleep in it, the food needs improvement but it would do for a week. Town is nice, beach is lovely. Highly recommended!

my kids loved this holiday and spent most of the day by the pool, in which the staff did pool games like vollyball and water aerobics, there is a bar and resturant by the pool, there is a small shop on site and entertainment if you want in the evenings. The only thing i didnt like was the amount of stairs you have to go up to get to your apartment which i think would be very difficult for older people or people with buggys, we found it hard getting our suitcases up there. But overall a very good holiday and would go back

Lovely complex just a shame it is high up a steep hill and is definitely not for those who have trouble walking. Staff were very friendly especially on reception. Had a leaky toilet but this was immediately rectified. Apartment was cleaned once a week and towels changed every two days. Only downside is they advertise satellite T.V. we could only get BBC1 and the picture was terrible.

Having read the most recent reviews ....we did well ! Our room overlooked the complex , yes there are a few steps to climb , but unless you are disabled in any way , one can manage them. Did not eat in the complex at all. The snack bar and bar is very limited , no inside lounge on the site. Pool clean and surrounding sun beds good. Good location for shops and beach. Bed and rooms clean , a/c worked well as did the fans . Quiet at night , again must have been lucky. We went late in the season , do not rely on the onsite supermarket , it has no stock! The site is being fully renovated . A cheap get away for a week , perfect. We slept there , room good. Would I use this as a base for a main holiday.? no , but everyone has differing views , budgets and requirements.

Overview - Very basic apartments, generally clean. Bathroom tired and needs updating. These apartments are on a hill, so be prepared for many steep steps. If you are generally fit these are ok, but remember YOU have to carry your suitcases. Good(ish) points - We stayed in a one bedroom apartment in A block which was only 70 steps from reception. (The picture on the internet is definitely NOT the one bedroom apartment.) This was near reception therefore we could receive wifi without going to reception. Wifi is 30 mins free/day, then charges apply. Housekeeping came every 2 days to change bath towels and wipe bathroom and empty rubbish bin and during a 2 weeks stay the sheets were changed once (not over the weekend). If you like holiday camp style entertainment then there is plenty going on to entertain children during the day and adults in the evening - afraid not our thing so couldn't comment on standard. Apartments have lovely large terraces but only small plastic table and four chairs - no loungers. There is also a sail for shade, however this needs to be relocated as during the day is was not possible to find any shade to sit under. Nice large pool and never a problem getting loungers or brollies even when hotel is full. Only saw a few towels on beds but this is not really necessary. Only one bar area by the pool so always plastic cups for drinks. Prices not bad for food and drink, and the food we had was quite good. Can't comment on the restaurant as we did not eat there. If you have a family and intend to stay at the hotel during the day then go all inclusive. Kitchen area of apartment contained fridge, microwave, 2 ring electric hob, kettle, crockery, cutlery, saucepans, basic kitchen tools including bottle opener. Bad(ish) points - Only one very poor ceiling fan in the bedroom of the apartment and no portable fans available from the unhelpful reception. A room safe is available at 30 Euros/week plus 10 Euro returnable deposit. The TV has poor selection of channels with only BBC2 in English which didn't really matter as we were not there to watch telly. There is nothing provided in the kitchen area re. washing up liquid, cloth, salt, pepper, sauces. Not even a welcome water provided in the fridge! No hair dryer, no pool towels. There is a flyer in the room regarding late check out - when the hotel is full this is not available so not sure why they advertise it. Pool Bar - no red or rose wine available (note if you are thinking of going all inclusive). Rubbish bin always full. After heavy rain one morning we decided to go for lunch at the pool and found the kitchen was closed. Not very good service! Shame there was no comfy bar/lounge area to sit in the evening instead of plastic chairs. Cala Llonga - The town is 10 minutes downhill from the hotel and there is a reasonable selection of restaurants and snack bars. However if you like a decent restaurant in the evening then after 2 weeks you will have visited the nice ones about 3 times each. There is a shop at the resort, this sells only drinks and crisps and bagettes. There is a Spar 3 minutes down the hill and a number of supermarkets and shops in Cala Llonga. (remember you have to carry it all back updhill!) The beach is very nice and in Sept 2015 the loungers were 5 Euros each and a brolly was also 5 Euros/day. General Information - reception have an island map. Thomson information book has little information on attractions/tours. Best to hire a car for a few days and find things yourself. There is a good car rental place near the bottom of the hill, we booked in advance for our 2nd week, so no problem. The Hippy Market at Es Canar is worth a visit but be prepared for crowds. You can get the Little Train on a Wednesday from Cala Llonga for 14 Euros/adult or a bus which will be cheaper. The car park was 4 Euros. There is a ferry service from Cala Llonga to Ibiza town 19 Euros/adult and takes around 45 minutes. Also goes to Sainta Eulalia for 12 Euros/adult, the bus is 1.65 Euros. The Caves at Can Marca cost 15 Euros/adult and was probably just about worth it. Usual photographer trying to get you to buy a photo of you which was taken on the way in - your choice. They have introduced lighting effects and the tour guide is very good. Best to get there for opening at 10.30 as you go in groups and it was very busy when we came out. After the Caves have lunch in Saint Miquel - and the beach is very nice if you just want to relax for the rest of the day. Overall, let's face it, a holiday is what you make it and we can all find things to moan about. We had some aweful storms during our 2 weeks so lost about 5 days of sun but we think we made the most of the sunny days and saw some lovely places. We wouldn't return to Montemar, only because during the day it was very noisy and the steps do get to be a bit of a pain. However the upper terrace by the pool was lovely, and a bit quieter. One positive - at the end of the evening don't worry about having drunk too much as you have a 10 minute walk back up hill and then the steps to your room - this burns off that extra sangria! Happy Holidays :)

I am always surpised by how inconsiderate people get when they are in hotels! Had a very noisy week stay in this complex....but that isn't the complexes fault, however it can't help but taint the experience. We stayed in a two star two bed apartment which was very large, the facilities were a bit tired but for the price we paid we can't really complain. The bathroom is a little claustrophobic with very little storage and the kitchen is very basic. But as a base to sleep and shower it was fine. The downside to this size apartment is your neighbours are large families and/or groups of young party go-ers therefore I would not recommend this kind of room for couples looking for peace and quiet. The rest of the facilities are great. The staff are all welcoming and polite. The pool is large, very clean and has an onsite life guard 9-6. There are plenty of decent sunbeds and parasols to go around. The entertainment team are on hand to keep you amused with various activities if you want them but they don't hassle you if you aren't interested. The bar is open all day offering wide variety of food which is very nice and reasonably priced. The hotel is very clean and has a luggage room with curtesy showers if you have a late check out. The WIFI is only free for 30 minutes per 24 hours however you can pay for a longer service. If you are thinking of booking this as part of a UK Thompson package be warned the rep will never be on site. They are based at another hotel which is a quite hilly 10/15 minute walk away and you have to go to them for the welcome meeting, book trips or if you have any problems. I did however use the Thompson text service which was useful, but when our trip was cancelled we had no-one to tell us until we were stood at the designated bus stop waiting to be picked up and then we had to go back to the rep hotel the next day to get refunded.

We had read the very mixed reviews about the Montemar Aparthotel before we left and there is a lot of truth from all of them. The Montemar has its appealing side but sadly the bad bits outweigh them - mostly down to our individual apartment. As the "hotel" was fully booked we could not get a change of room. We booked this through Thomson and are surprised it is still on their books after all the reviews but it does look as though they have removed it from the summer 2016 options. It certainly does not represent value for money. There is limited (30 mins per day) free WiFi so I have left the WiFi part of the review blank. The Good bits. Globales are spending money on the hotel (although hotel is a misnomer as it is a series of apartment blocks). The bed linen was changed once in the week and towels twice. There was a new air-conditioning unit in the room (Free to use). The room was clean and fairly recently decorated, all new beds and room furnishings (curtains and bed covers etc all matching). The staff we spoke to all spoke a decent level of English as well as a number of other languages due to the large variety of International guests. (Russian, Polish, Spanish, Dutch, German & Italian during our visit) and were always helpful. The views from the room (J6) were great - but see please the bad bits for more about this too! The food from the snack bar was reasonably priced and cooked freshly to order (see the Downright Ugly bits for the main restaurant). There is a new flatscreen TV in the room (which partly covers the large picture on the wall) and other than the fridge needing defrosting the kitchen area is pretty well equipped. The Bad bits. Unless you are lucky and get an apartment round the pool, you need to be reasonably fit to get from your apartment to the facilities within the complex as it is built on a pretty steep hillside with LOTS of steps. If you have a car however there is parking close to the block and you will only have the steps to the apartment to climb. If you struggle with steps, or have pushchairs etc, then be warned. A lot of the guests here are younger club goers who keep strange hours and you may end up with noisy neighbours whose antics wake you during the night when they come back from San Antonio and start moving furniture round!! The pool was clean but in need of an overhaul. The snack bar furniture needs to be replaced as none of the tables we used had all their rubber feet attached meaning all of them wobbled quite badly! €5.20 per day for the safe is a bit much especially when the state of the door forces you to use it.(SEE BELOW) The Downright Ugly bits. Restaurant - What is supposed to be a hot breakfast buffet can be best described as luke warm. The food was cooked but the bain-marie service area was never switched on leaving the food to cool (kept warm by lamps from above) and the plate warmers only ever had COLD plates in ensuring that by the time you got back to your paper placemat your food was cold. The variety of food available from breakfast was very limited given the mix of nationalities staying here. The whole restaurant area was reminiscent of a 1980's works canteen. Most of the rest of the comments relate to the apartment we were in - J6 - a 2 bedroom apartment located at on of the highest points in the complex. Whilst the room was clean as I mentioned at the start, one of the bedrooms had damp in it (see photo) which gave a fusty smell to the whole apartment. This could be "cured" by using the aircon all the time but you don't always want the aircon on all night in mid September! The second bedroom had at some time had one of the doors of the wardrobe pulled from its hinges leaving screws protruding from the frame (see photo). The only door into the apartment is a patio door which seems to have been levered from its frame at some time and securing it wasn't easy. When trying to lock the door the key was almost impossible to turn as it jammed against the frame and the door does not fit the frame properly and looks as though previous occupants have smashed their way in (see photo). However the worst part of all was the bathroom! The bath itself has been patched up with sealant where there is an obvious hole in it, the silicone sealant round the bath has been patched up badly and there is a lot of mildew in the bath area. The lid to the toilet cistern has been smashed and put back together with some sort of adhesive rather than replaced and the sink is not fastened to the wall correctly. The whole bathroom needs ripping out and replacing URGENTLY.
