Steens Hotel is beautiful, well kept and charming. We have stayed in a lot of B&B's. I have never seen one that is so beautifully frunished. Breakfast was lovely and served on great dishes. Steens does not have a lift , but the staff is totally willing to carry bags up to the room. The walk to the harbor is about 10-15 minutes.itis a lovely walk. The town of Bergen in lovely. Steens Hotel is well worth walking up the stairs and walking a bit to get to the harbor. I would stay there again if we ever go back to Bergen.

The website says it is a short walk to the train station. It is actually .8 km with a steep 25 meter hill with steps at the end. Not OK if you have much luggage! Our room was very small, one side of the double bed was pushed against the wall so I had to climb over the foot of the bed to get into bed. Amenities were minimal. A bar of soap and a couple envelopes of shampoo. Sunrise was at 4:00 AM. There were no room darkening shades so our night of sleep was very brief. No bathmat to step on so the floor was very wet! No washcloths available. Breakfast was a basic European breakfast. (minimal hot food). Closest restaurant for dinner was 3-4 blocks away. Our view was a courtyard with a lot of constructions materials in it. This was more like a low end 2 star hotel than an expensive 3 star!
