My stay was a mix of business and pleasure. Check-in went smooth and so did the check-out, receptionists were service minded and polite. The room wasn't the biggest I've, but nicely refurbished, functional, comfy beds and super clean. The Wi-Fi was a bit unstable. Bathroom door was rather difficult to open without waking up the other person. I miss a fridge where one can keep water/whatever cool and a water boiler or alternatively free coffee/tea in the lobby. Breakfast was ok, plenty of food, but I reckon a bit "simpler" version compared to what you get at other Choice hotel categories. I think the breakfast staff could have been increased with one more person, to ensure supplies, it seemed like they had a hectic time. Some teaspoons could have been placed together with the cutlery (knives/forks) in addition to the ones close to the coffee/tea area. The terrace at the 7th floor is great on a sunny day! Positive that the hotel has managed to get a deal/discount with City Park where one can park the car, but it's still a "rip-off", NOK184 for 24 hrs.
Hotel rooms new renovated, but outside renovation is not finished yet. Unfortunately there is also some road construction going on in the area around the hotel. Good Service and cleanness. Breakfast Buffet could also have some varieties of Norwegian fish specialties!!
We stayed in a twin room that had been recently renovated. Everything was spotless and our beds and pillows were very comfortable. Reception was happy to give us extra pillows. The enclosed shower was great and we appreciated that everything in our bathroom was new and clean. Liquid soap dispensers were in the shower and by the sink. Our room was not that large but it was all that we needed. There was an open closet rather than drawers or a closet with doors and a flat screen TV. Our window had a decent view and was not yet covered with the scaffolding that was surrounding a great deal of the exterior of the hotel. The hotel was about a 20 minute walk from the train station and it was easy to walk to all attractions in the town. Wifi was free and worked well all of the time. The sitting area in the lobby was newly renovated and was modern and comfortable as well. Breakfast was good but had less variety than some of the other hotels that we stayed in on our holiday. Beer could be purchased at the main reception. The taxi that we took to the airport was able to drive close to the front door of the hotel. The city was working on road construction near the hotel but there was nothing that the hotel could do about that. We would have liked a kettle with an option of making tea or coffee in our room. The light above our open closet was very dim and needed to have a brighter light bulb to increase the brightness within the room.
I found an old pizza box in my room when I showed up. The smallest single room in a brand hotel that I have ever had. Single rooms in hostels are larger. And just one bath towel, one hand towel, one blanket and one pillow and no glass (paper or otherwise) in the bathroom. More cheap than inexpensive. The Comfort Express in Oslo was nicer and there I had to do my own housekeeping. Disappointing.
This well situated hotel, just 10 mins from the fishing market, would be ideal for a stay. Unfortunately, there is extensive work going on in the hotel and on the road just outside. Taxis can come close but not actually to the hotel entrance because of the roadworks. The building is shrouded in scaffolding and a safety net and there is work going on inside as well. The bar doubles as the reception counter, which means that you may have to wait to check-in if someone at the bar wants another beer. Once during our three day stay the power failed in the rooms on our floor for about half an hour. Another time the door key did not work and we were told there was a system problem. This sets the reception staff running around to try and fix things. Expect drilling noises from time to time during the day. The rooms are fine but don't expect any toiletries (there are liquid soap dispensers near the wash basin and the shower). There is no kettle or coffee-maker so hot water must come from the tap. Instead of a wardrobe, there is a rail on which you can hang clothes. One feature that redeems the hotel is the terrific breakfast spread. There is a choice of wonderful breads, different every day, many kinds of cereals with milk, lactose-free milk, yogurt, and soya milk to suit most tastes, as well as nuts and raisins. There is fresh fruit, fresh cut vegetables and a range of cheeses, as well as scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, bacon, baked beans etc. Of course, hot tea and coffee too. We booked this hotel in March for a late June stay. At that time there was a suggestion that the work on the hotel would end by mid-May. Far from it; it looks likely to continue for a few more months.
The hotel is a basic hotel that works and delivers but it is not really very attractive. The room was rather small but clean and ample for a night. But it lacked a minibar, water boiler and drawers/cupboards too few for my liking. The room also lacked light. But, again, it worked. Breakfast wasn't´t really that great but sufficient. The tourist season has started in Bergen and the room was very crowded. Location is fine and near the city centre. Service in the reception friendly and efficient.
Man får hva man betaler for. Vi har vært på andre langt dyrere hotell i Bergen, og Holberg er like bra og gir valuta for pengene. Anbefales.
Hotell litt utenfor sentrum. 600 - 700 meter fra tog/trikk. litt langt å gå om en har mye bagasje. Basis utvalg til frokost. Mange turister I sommersesongen, litt kø til frokost selv om en er der tidlig.
Bodde her i 2 netter, helt ok rom. Gode senger, romslig bad. Dårlig utvalg i glutenfritt brød.
