First off, let me start with the positives - the rooms, whilst small, are comfortable, and the bathrooms are of a good standard too. Compact but has everything you need. Now the not so positive. This hotel markets itself as a business hotel. I arrived relatively late for my 1 night stay, around 10pm. When checking in, the member of staff asked me if I would be using the minibar, I replied that I would not, but I would order some room service when I got up to my room. So imagine my surprise when I got up to my room and could not find a menu. No problem, I called down to reception, only then to be told that room service was not offered. That is despite the fact that less than 5 minutes before, I had told the staff member checking me in that I would be ordering room service. I was told if I wanted food, I would need to leave the hotel and go to find it. Now normally that would be no problem, but at 10pm, it becomes considerably more difficult. Even if they don't have facilities for providing it in their own kitchens, I would have thought a few sensible relationship with local takeaway providers would be a real value add for them. I have never stayed in a hotel that is supposedly a 4* business hotel before that does not offer room service. The Wi-Fi was also horribly unreliable, so I found myself unable to eat and unable to work, not a very successful stay. I will not be returning to this property and will be encouraging my company to source other hotel options too. Very disappointing.
Good service Very small cramped rooms but that's typical of Hong Kong unfortunately Great location- walking distance to shopping/ dining / metro station Breakfast sucks It's like a joke Almost nothing is served And even then the croissants were stale and there was no place to sit down and eat!
This small boutique hotel is in a great location on Hong Kong island; surrounded by local street life and associated restaurants and markets, also close to the high end Causeway Bay shopping experience of top brands - only 10 min via MTR to Hong Kong Central and tourist attractions. With just four rooms to each floor (total 79 rooms), the room was very quiet and comfortable, first class sleep quality. Our recent stay was our first visit to the Hotel Pennington (have stayed in HK before), we will definitely return when next in HK, felt as though we arrived as guests and left as friends - all staff very friendly, however Stephen, Stella, David and the Manager went that extra step, thank you.
We had eight nights at the Pennington all staff go the extra mile to look after you very well the manager and his team are all great we like to say Steve David and Stella are all a credit the the hotel the hotel is a short walk from exit F1 of the causeway station the only down side we leave Hong Kong tomorrow but we plan to come back for the 3rd time and say at the hotel
The hotel is only a few hundred meters away from the nearest metro station (Causeway Bay) with many restaurants and convenience stores downstairs. We were lucky enough to receive a complimentary upgrade to our room. We were so surprised at how spacious and comfortable the room was - definitely good value for money. Great stay, thank-you to the staff!
So arrived at the hotel and somehow hotels.com got the dates wrong when i booked. The hotel was fully booked according to the front desk and wasnt helpful at all. The front desk guy was completely rude and pretty much shut me down UNTIL the manager derek came over. Told him about my situation and he helped us beyond my expectations. He accommodated us in a stressful time. I only hope his colleagues would follow in his footsteps. The stay was good. Room wasnt that big but it was nice. Would stay there again.
Great location and service. Good price and very convinient. The hotel is new and clean, and good access to the shopping area. The shopping area is at the door step and many good restaurants within 5 minute walk.
This was the first time we decided to stay away from Kowloon area.. and what a pleasant surprise find. First to start with.. pre-visiting services: Without the knowledge that the hotel team has replied to my husband, I have also sent a separate email to James, the hotel manager upon reading tripadvisor. Both of our emails were replied really promptly. Pros: 1. Modern and clean room with luxurious amenities that may even fight the big hotel chains. i.e: Eubiq plugs with USB port so you do not need to bring travel adapter and electronic door viewer 2. Heater in the room was really a savior in the cold weather and the bed is soft and comfy. You can even choose whether you would want a soft or firm pillow (both are given to you). 3. Rather big room for a hotel in Hong Kong 4. Location is superb, just minutes walk away from Causeway Bay MTR and Times Square. Apart from that, there are a lot of eateries around the area. We even had supper at Ichiran before walking back to the hotel (there is a 24 hr supermarket near as well). 5. James Hwang, the hotel manager showed us impeccable customer service by making sure everything is comfortable for us from checking in to checking out. 6. Concierge is always friendly and helpful. 7. Gave us late check out cause our flight was going to be at night. Cons (if need be...): 1. Breakfast is really basic - juices, coffee, tea, pastries; But there are too many eateries around, so this is not a big issue. 2. No swimming pool Anniversary: Thank you for giving us a bottle of red wine for our anniversary.
Pros: Stylish design, nice toiletries and towel, big window, convenient location Cons: not very nice staff, insufficient lighting in room, too soft pillows, small room, small shared business building with small elevators, not so clean shower area
This place has a great location just minutes away from Times Square and the MTR. A boutique hotel where the rooms are smaller, it’s excellent for quick business trips where you would need to stay for a couple of nights. James the hotel manager was really attentive to whatever was needed to make the stay more accommodating, with shuttle service to and from the airport for your flight (for a fee) if requested. Breakfast is pretty basic with coffee, fruits, and some small pastries, so if you’re into having a hot breakfast, there are a lot of popular Cantonese style breakfast restaurants around the area. The location sits exactly next to a 7-11 in case you need anything at any time of day (SIM card, food, cigarettes, toiletries, etc.) The rooms were clean and comfortable with large windows for a good amount of natural light. There are also small touches like providing slippers which is always welcome. The rooms may be smaller than luxury hotels, but for the price, location, service, and ambience, this place is at the top of my list for boutique in Causeway Bay.
