If you are 5'5"+ and over 65kgs than I would strongly suggest you seriously consider elsewhere, unless you are happy with wet towel wipe, or gymnastically trained; the combined toilet and shower room was not designed for a western frame! Once you got pass the above handicapped you'll fine, the bed was firm and comfortable, beneath the bed has plenty of space for storage, it has AC., tv, a small fridge, and kettle for hot water, a large bathing towel, a medium hand towel and floor towel, all in a small 'manageable' room space, for the price you paid! There was also a larger communal fridge in the communal area. I suspect the shower room ventilation wasn't working/effective, as the cold floor has plenty of condensation after a shower. As the electricity stays on after you left the room I would suggest you leave the AC on at minimum, otherwise you'll come back to a soggy floor! The staff was very helpful though. I would suggest you stay no longer than 3/4 nights!
It is normal for strategically located rooms to be small in Hong Kong with an expensive rate. Totally understand that. However the staff and reception were not friendly at all and not helpful and may come off as rude. Generally, I was told that this is normal when you come to Hong Kong. But I just expected our host to be atleast somewhat friendly but they were not at all. We asked for directions and requested for toiletries and the receptionist snapped at us. However since the location is good and nearby many halal shops in Chun King Mansion then I would suggest staying here for those reasons only. We booked a triple room and it was abit hard to maneuver in the room for three people including our travel bags. The toilet was just a shower door inside the bedroom itself. Wished we stayed elsewhere which would be more comfortable for three people. Won't recommend to stay here. Better pay more to stay somewhere nearby with a bigger space.
Fact: HK is really expensive. I read reviews on trip advisor but didn't think much about them. I didn't want to spend the extra money so I just decided to book it. After all, it's just a place to sleep. Once we got there, we realized we probably should have spent the extra money. There was no room to put our suitcases down to even open them. The toilet is inside the shower and barely big enough to use. The whole thing smells like smoke so if you have asthma, you can't stay here. It was really hard on my family because it was uncomfortable to stay as we aren't the smallest Americans. Other than the physical aspect, the people were very nice. The wifi wasn't bad. It wasn't a bad location. The cleaning staff was so nice and helpful. If you can handle all of the above, then do it! If not, and you're spoiled like me, then I recommend paying the extra money to stay somewhere else.
I got a very small double room without enough space to move. Literally you will just sleep here , however, you won't be able to relax as the bed and pillows are not that comfy. When u open your door you will immediately bump into your bed. If you have a big luggage it will not fit unless you put it under your bed. The toilet I got has a bigger space than the usual but it has a pungent smell. The bathroom door is made of transparent glass but you can pull down the curtain for privacy. A small tv and fridge is provided and both of them are hanging on the wall. have glasses and water heater but the glasses are dirty. *toothbrush & toothpaste *slippers *hair dryer *towels Towels are changed everyday. While bedding is replaced every 3 days ( for long stays) If you are lucky, you will be able to stay in a spacious room. please request room in 4th floor they are much better than the ones in 11th floor. Hotel is better than those in chungking. Hongkong is known to have small spaces so don't be shock.
The room is very small, bathroom also can't take shower because too small. We stayed there 4 night never change bad sheet and tower. Wifi also can not use. Hairdryer also don't have so i called and ask to reception, she told me that come and take at reception and after use put back there!
I lived in Guangzhou, China for 2 years so Hong Kong was my weekend escape. If you're in Hong Kong and are on a budget then this is your place! This place is low budget so don't get your hopes up for something fancy...but for a single female traveler I always felt safe here. They do have different size rooms...some were as big as a closet and others were big enough for about 4 people. You just have to make sure you're paying attention when you're booking. It's in a good location in Tsim Tsha Shui area so you'll have lots of restaurants to pick from and the subway is there too. You can book on agoda.com. It's a lot safer and cleaner than the hotels in Chungking Mansions.
I stayed here twice already with my family. The first time I stayed here, I was pretty surprised on how small the room was considering we were 4 in one room, 2 queen size beds and a bathroom with no lock and pretty much see through (hey no peeking!) the bathroom was relatively small like I had to bent down to shower properly without splashing the water, For my second time, we were able to get a bit bigger room since we were five with my aunt coming with us. Still the bathroom had no lock but at least there was a cloth covering the bathroom already. What I liked about this hotel is, it is near the mtr station, just 5 mins away. Also, there are a number of restaurants and fast food restaurants near by and a convenience store, even a money changer. Wifi issues, the first stay that I had we didn't have wifi in our room, we had to go to the lobby to use the wifi their, for the second time, we were on the 11th floor (still part of California Hotel), we had wifi in the room already. which pretty much worked okay. You won't be able to see the hotel right away since it doesn't have any signage so you better ask for their exact directions and a landmark to point where the hotel is located. Overall the stay was alright. I just hated the fact that it was a bit off using the elevator as it is very small and there are other tenants from the building who use it too.
Wow, this place should be called a hostel at best. Good location. Hard to find with no street frontage signage. Rooms are tiny. The toilet is literally in the shower. Wish I'd paid more attention to trip advisor comments prior to booking.
Room extremely small, unable to stay 2 person. Room without windows, without air conditional remote control. Very humiliation and rude stuffs. Dirty and noisy. Strong smell of smoke. Bad ventilation. Bathroom slippery. During my stayed, one guest seriously injured due to fell down and hit by the bathroom glass door. There is a small wall cabinet, guest may hurt by its sharp angle. No safety in this hotel. We doubted his legal approval in running this business. We felt being misleading with the picture show by the website. This is a hostel or motel. Non deserved to Hotel level. With the same price you may get others Hotel around Tsim Sha Tsui area.
I booked this hotel mainly for its location and I didnt expect much from the hotel after reading all the bad reviews prior to booking. Just when I thought I wouldn't be disappointed (because I had low expectations to begin with), l realized there were no pillow cases on their pillows and the bare pillows were dingy. The bathroom was small -- it was just a rest room with shower between the toilet bowl and the sink. It dodnt have a real shower. The receptionist doubles as the housekeeping so at one time I had to get the fresh towels myself from their linen. Pros: close to the MTR, harbour, and shopping district.
