The White 1 Hotel3.0 out of 5.0

I prebooked my long stay at the White Hotel while receiving dental treatment from a nearby clinic. If I had realised how basic this accommodation was going to be I would have found something more comfortable - there are many other better hotels nearby. The breakfasts were passable (nice omelets, fruit and fresh bread were good) and the house-keeping staff were lovely. As for my small soulless windowless room - tiny ants crawling over surfaces, distorted and blurry tv reception (staff said it was due to heavy rain but it was the same when weather fine), one ceiling light not working, a badly leaking tap in bathroom sink, an unusable safe, and it generally looked tired and unkempt with chipped paint surfaces everywhere. This hotel appears to be in need of repairs and upgrading to meet the claims in the description and of the photos.
Really not much to say about the place. Run down, old and not particularly clean. Breakfast is just awful and the tables are not enough for the guests who are there so you will get some travelling business man sit arm to arm with you while you try to enjoy... Bell boys seem to not be interested or their attitude changes unless given a tip - not genuine service that one should expect in south east asia. Good point is that the location is good.
Stayed there for 6 nights, the room are old and tired, indicated there is in-room dinning, but ended when call for room service as I was not feeling too well to go out get but got told that restaurant closed and said can help me get food but end up called back to me said cannot find any food for me. End up I have to go out get the food. This hotel is near nightmaket, have alot foods stall around.
We booked and received confirmation of 3 VIP rooms. However, when we checked in, hotel receptionist assigned 2 VIP rooms and 1 regular room without informing before. We asked to change to VIP room as what we paid but the reception did not accept, not apologized and showed his "who - care" attitude to us. Not only the regular room, the VIP rooms were not big and clean enough to stay with cigarette smell and drainage smell. There were short of amenities in room that we had to ask to get. Room service, reception and breakfast were served in non-welcome manner. One night is too much. We never come back again.
Stayed for 3 nights on 31/08/17 to 3/9/17 in Deluxe room with windows. We are 4 couples in total. Room rates are not standardised as some are with bathtub and some are not. No views. Windows are locked. Very small that we have no space to open up our 29" luggage. We have to shift the chairs & table to make space for our luggage. I don't understand why they place unsable PC set on the dressing table. Those who are big in size unable to enter the shower glass door (deluxe room with window w/o bathtub). So please take note if u are big in size make sure u ask for room with bathtub. They will hold your passports until the day u check out. I had to argue to get my passport back as i've made full payment of my stay upon booking. Those who booked via booking.com has to surrrender their passport - another stupid hotel's procedures. Nonetheless, credits given to the cleanliness of the hotel. Room are made every day - new bedsheet, towels etc. Staff are fast to requests. Location is perfect. 5mins walk to Ben Thanh Market & to the street of Halal restaurants, shops of telekung, shawl, tudung etc (exit hotel turn right & turn left to the first road entrance). Tour booths, 24hrs minimart exactly below the hotel (same street). Massage spa all over the places. Walkable to Saigon Square. If u take cab tell them Saigon Square beside Takashimaya. There are total of 3 Saigin Sqr in HCMH. Laundry - hotel will charge u by per piece. Go to the laundry shop opposite the hotel across the traffic light facing the junction. 40k per kg. Express (same day collection) 60k per kg.
We had a 5 floor window room although it did not have a view unless you like looking at tin roofs. The value for money was great and it included breakfast which offered a reasonable selection of food. The location in District One was perfect with anything you could possibly need handy and nearby.
We stayed at the white hotel for three night and paid extra to upgrade our room, what amazes me is that they don't seem to have any standards. The hotel is very dated and they just don't see it. Cleaning standards are poor. I am told this is just what to expect here in Vietnam but don't see why we should. The bedding was not white and the damp marks on the walls appealing but just seems to be the normal. Don't stay here you will be disappointed
Room was horrible, not well maintained, A/C wasn't working well, CPU was spoilt, don't even know why there is 2 safe in the cupboard when 1 of it is spoilt. Really disappointed with the hotel. The staffs were unfriendly, unhelpful and some couldn't speak english. Breakfast spread was a shocker, no proper "labels" to tell you what is what. Asked for 2 sets of scrambled eggs but i got 2 sunny side ups instead. Although the location wasn't that bad, i wouldn't recommend this hotel. There are much better hotels with the same price range around the area.
Hotel is a nice location. Room was clean and looks nice. Bed in my room (VIP5) was advertised as a King size, but was queen sized. Wireless Internet speed was fine. The air conditioner was ineffective. The bellboy maxed it, and yet the room was barely cool. Good thing the power controller for the room was not an RFID unit and accepted a old hotel card so I left the AirCon on 24 hrs a day. Woke up in the morning and the staff shut off power to the room... I use a CPAP to sleep and woke up gasping for air. The closet had 2 safes, one was broken, the working safe was not bolted down. There were just 2-3 English TV channels and zero news channels. The most negative issue I had was the ants. Small ants were on the nightstand, toilet, sink, tables everywhere!!!
Found a lot of mosquitos inside the room, broke my night, could not sleep well. Breakfast was nothing new compared to years ago. Boring. Frontliners are not smiling at all when receiving me and my key.
