1. To begin with, we reached Hoang lien hotel on our anniversary and we clearly mentioned it while booking. Their goof ups began as soon as we reached. First was our booking. The hotel was full and there weren't any rooms to accommodate even after confirmation. So, in compensation we were offered a similiar star hotel 'as per them' which were few buildings away for the day and asked us to come back the next day as the room was available afterwords. (Just imagine a trauma of shifting two times in less than three days ) 2. The hotel where we were shifted was a lower grade hotel for the kind of money we paid. There was no room service. There was no morning breakfast. Room was small. Towels were torn...to add to our dismay the receptionist could not even understand very basic English and gave us a tough time. 3. We went back to Hoang after spending a day in the other hotel. The room of Hoang was better but this hotel is equally bad with a shower 'hardly working' 'choked lavatory' and bad breakfast... 4. Also we told the lady at the reception that they ruined our anniversary by goofing up the booking even after clearly mentioning while booking. So, to compensate she gave us one free massage session for which they forced us to tip atleast 1.5 lakh to the masseur... ( which we could have taken in that much money outside parlour anyways ) 5. Also we realised that they often do blunders with bookings and send a lot of customers to that sidey hotel where sometimes lift also doesn't work... I would not recommend this hotel to anyone at all. This is a very bad hotel to stay in Saigon. Pls be aware
Well to start with, let me say that this hotel is an extremely good value for the price. The rooms are clean and the staff is the best part: they are so nice and very helpful. The breakfast is nothing special, but enough to get you out the door in the morning. If I had any complaints they would be: the wifi is basically non-existent. The only place you can get a signal is if you come set up in the restaurant (which I do twice a day) but in your room you do not get email or messages and you cannot surf the internet at all. If you are coming for business where wifi is important I would suggest a different hotel. Also the laundry service damaged two of my items, they were very sorry about this and offered compensation, but if the damaged items had been things I really cared about I would have been bummed out. On the whole I would say that for the price this is a good value. If they would improve the wifi my rating would go up to four stars instead of three. And thank you to the staff, they are the best part of this hotel.
My second stay at hotel (last visit 2016). A good budget choice in a street full of similar hotels near backpacker area and Ben Thanh Market without being too close. Stayed in superior room at rear of hotel. Fair sized room with windows note cheaper rooms are windowless. Firm bed good AC hot water kettle to make a cuppa but you must bring your own tea. Bathroom OK but shower is in high bathtub and is difficult to step into. Breakfast is OK for Vietnamese options like soups but poor western food only white bread and jam. Friendly helpful staff.
Nice and quiet, buffet breakfast was good and room was very comfortable. The staff were friendly enough and the location is a short walk to the backpacker area. We stayed one night before we left and we enjoyed a hot bath and the comfortable beds.
We came back to the same hotel which we stayed in 2007. At that time we were very satisfied. Beautiful furnitures (pearl mass coated) , excellent coffee and attendance. We expected something similar but received outdated rooms, with very loud windows and dormitory class beds. One can say you get what you pay for, but for this value this hotel was outstanding in its class some years ago and therefore made us to return back. Actually management lost its key positive features (interior and great coffee) and made it very average ** hotel. So sorry for that. Location is obviously still very good so for non demanding backpackers still OK.
We arrived late night and we were informed that there was no room currently available because a guest extend their stay, then they transferred us to nearby hotel for a night and go back the next day. Breakfast is quite good. The room is clean. With bath tub, and minibar which will cost u a little when consumed.
near to all places, able to walk to all historical places. friendly staffs. good local food such as their beef noodle and Vietnam spring roll. Good massage service, not that cheap but still alright if compare another few shop next road.
This review is only for the massage and not the hotel. Place is directly in the basement level of hotel with outside walk in entrance. For less than $10US for an hour foot massage, and that's fees plus tips and in the end I added remaining dongs as extra tips for a total of 200,000 dongs that was well spent. With all these walking around in HCMC (actually we cabbed everywhere with taxi dirt cheap, didn't even bother with Uber), feet needed some pampering, and this does the job.
The main reason to stay here is because it's decent but inexpensive in a pretty good location. This is a small hotel about a 10 minute walk from the backpacker area. There are a number of restaurants and bars within walking distance in District 1. The hotel is a little old, but pretty well maintained. The room was decent sized, and clean, though there were a few insects in it. The bed was comfortable, and I slept well. There was a small fridge in the room which was good to keep a few drinks cold. Breakfast wasn't anything special, but it was okay. The wifi worked well enough, and I had no problems with the air conditioning.
This older style hotel is clean and it safe. The food in its restaurant is sort of edible nothing like the good street food or restaurant quality it's the equivalent of American Diner quality meals except Vietnamese flavour the restaurant is off an unattended the reception is off an unattended they cannot speak a word of English and do not even try they do not understand sign language very well so if you have a few questions or requests have them written in Vietnamese for them it is situated in a busy part of town easy to go to places and if it's just a quick stay it is pretty good value for the money.
