This was my second stay in Alagon Central Hotel & Spa. Nice breakfast, friendly staff, lot to see within walking distance, small but ok swimming pool. One of my favorite places to stay while in Ho Chi Minh.
Yes the rooms are very small, and most have no window. As long as you know this it is fine. We did not spend a lot of time in our rooms. The beds were very comfortable. The rooms were clean. The hotel is well located in HCMC easy walk to many attractions. Check your booking details carefully as apparently our booking did not include pool use, which they charge extra US$9 per day, other bookings did include pool use. The buffet breakfast is busy but quite adequate. The staff were very helpful. They noticed our safe was still locked when we checked out which was handy as our passports were forgotten in the safe, and the men on the front door ensured all our suitcases were loaded in our car when my son walked off without his suitcase. The hotel appears to be a few buildings joined together so it is a bit of a maze upstairs and you can not always easily get from one side of the hotel floor to another, however once you work out the routes in and out of rooms it is not a problem.
The hotel was very busy at reception on arrival, the staff were polite but not overly friendly and we felt a bit like we were on a production line. The reception looks a lot nicer than rooms and the photos online look nicer than in real life. The room was clean and tidy but quite dated and in need of fresh paint and a new bathroom suite. The window was quite wobbly and the blind wouldn't stay open, the room was also quite dark even with all the lights on. The rooftop pool area is made up pf lots of small areas with not enough loungers, the pool is also a bit plastic with fake plants all around. Jacuzzi area was nice but a bit noisy to sit next too because of the pool motors. The pool bar was nice with a good range of pool side food and a good view over the city in the evening. The breakfast area was modern and nicely decorated with a good choice of food but it was bland and cold. Overall our stay was fine but this is a definitely a low 3 star hotel.
This hotel is one of four in the Alagon group. We found the hotel to be in a good location within walking distance to restaurants and the Night Market. The room was a nice size, clean and bed comfortable. We booked two tours through the front desk and they were very helpful. Breakfast was good and the rooftop pool, bar, patio area is small but never had a problem getting a spot to relax. Would stay at this hotel again.
I booked this hotel from a famous website. So I went to book a room which categorized in "Premium Deluxe and Pool Access" Upon arrival and when I was given my room. I knew my holiday is ruined... I booked a double bed which I expected I will be given a queen size bed or a king size bed. But I have been given two single bed combined to look like a double bed. I felt I have been cheated. It is not comfortable to sleep at all because of the gap caused between the 2 single beds. Basically I just sleep on one side of the bed. Moreover, the room is not sound proof at all. I was awaken by some drunkards at 3am who are talking so loudly and banging the doors so hard in the corridor. What a restless night that I have. The brightside: Location is pretty good. Breakfast Is Good. Housekeeping Is Good. The darkside: Room(608) is horrendous. I seriously do not feel any premium deluxe at all.
We stayed here on 2 separate stays during our time in Hoi chi min so stayed in 2 different rooms. Our first room was quite small but second room on the fifth floor a bit more spacious. As per some other reviews we believed pool use was included but apparently it is $9us for use. Luckily we did not have time to swim anyway. My teenage son used the gym and said it is very basic. Positives - very good location and walking distance to major attractions. Bed very comfortable and rooms clean. Breakfast reasonable selection.
Very expensive for a cheap standing hotel. Lobby and breakfest is Ok but the room it's another story. The Bath room is too old and the bedroom don't have any charme. Staff very unplesant. Check in and check out very long. Pick up our luggages would have been a long story if the manager didn't react.
Rooms are a little bit small, but the roof top spa area is great. Good breakfast with cold and warm food, fresh fruit and fresh juices and cool staff. Shoutout to my friends Tien, Khoa, Lilly, Max and Linh who were always helpful and good for some jokes!
Far worse. First the lift a small and slow, you have to pay extra for services which are free in other hotels and the rooms are small and pokey without windows and look nothing like the room you thought you had booked.
You like small poorly maintained rooms with no windows and staff that will try to persuade you that the room you are in is an upgrade - when in reality you have been down graded. Be very very careful if you are lucky enough to book a shoe box in this hotel.
