We arrived by taxi and our arrival took us through the bad end of town. So we were concerned. It turned out to be a pleasant stay. The staff was delightful and informative. The hotel was such a different experience since I usually stay at a 4 or 5 star hotel in the US. It was fitting with a 3 world country flavor. the manager took us for a 2 hour tour of the city on Friday night. He was very well versed in the history of the city of Quito. I couldn't believe all the night life. So much fun and festivities. Our room was on the 3rd floor and to climb stairs since it had no elevator, but that was okay. The Ecuadorian people are very pleasant but only a few knew English. A little knowledge of Spanish stood us well and was fun. Taxis were real cheap and easy way of getting around once you got tired of walking up all the hills.
