We traveled with a group of 50 people and stayed here 4 nights. Most of us found the accommodations quite comfortable. We had a king size bed and suite with sofa and coffee table. Small fridge and microwave, ironing board and iron were in each room. Continental breakfast was provided each morning and consisted of scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, waffles, hot and cold cereals, yogurt, etc. The only complaint we had was that our room was located close to the elevator and we could hear it go up and down - otherwise, we felt the hotel was quite nice.
Stayed here recently and found accommodations very comfortable. However, the people above us on the second floor were VERY noisy until 400AM disrupting our sleep most of the night. We complained the next morning at check out with no further action by staff for us. Their TV was so loud we could here the words on the TV. I also heard what was I thought noise you would here a construction contractor making if the building was under renovations. Apparently no contractor was working. We don't like to complain but I am surprised that staff didn't know about this. I almost went up there myself to tell them to keep it down but I succumbed to my wife's demand to keep out of it because the people may know who complained.
Once we got to the room- the layout was great...couch and 2 queen beds, spacious bathroom and microwave/fridge area. It appeared very clean, newly done, and in wonderful condition. However, upon opening the door into the room, the door stopper behind the handle went right into the wall and completely broke off...obviously broken before we got there, but odd nobody reported it. Then, on the first night, we realized the heater didn’t work, and it needed to be replaced during the next day (not fun on the coldest night of the year). But then, when we took showers in the morning, we noticed the faucet was broken and couldn’t be turned off or on correctly. I also noticed that my back was incredibly sore for the next few days...assuming it was from the oddly high, extra fluffy mattresses. All totally separate, but several weird instances for one two-night stay in a room. While this hotel looked wonderfully new, had updated furnishings and really appeared to be top notch, it clearly had some underlying issues that needed some love. You would think “how can the heater go out on such a new room, or the faucet break off the shower wall?- clearly the room isn’t as new as it seems. Either way, would still recommend it (if you’re tall and like a really soft mattress), or looking for a clean hotel with a good breakfast in the morning. Just don’t be surprised if you find signs of wear and use inside the rooms. The staff did attend to the issues we reported, and again, maybe we just had a bad experience or a fluke room, but I wanted to post our experience here so there could beware!
Arrived at 12:30 and they said our room was not ready which was ok because we were earlier than check in time. They then looked at the dog and said you have a suite with NO dog, I told her when I booked I told her we had a 15 lb dog. She said that's ok we will put you on the 1st floor which was ok and it was ready. The room had a doggie order but we were willing to take it, so returned to front desk and she gave us price and it was $25.00 PER NIGHT for a dog. I told her they said it was PER STAY. She said did you book on line, I said I called hotel direct. She proceeded to print out the price, I said can you see who booked it she said she couldn't tell. I said call the Manager, she said she was NOT IN TOWN. Could not help us, she said they were Indians that owned property and she could not help. WE LEFT TOLD HER ABOUT SMELL AND WILL NEVER STAY THERE. BEWARE OF PRICE.
Check in went well, and we settled in for the night. TV worked beautifully. Had to request a step stool for the wife...that king sized bed is 'JUST TOO HIGH'. It took a while for the water in the shower to get hot, and the drain was really slow. Hoped to have bacon rather than the sausage. Great conversation with the British lady in change of the breakfast room,
Terrible consideration to travelers - If you are having construction, fine. But the noise just outside my bedroom wall, which backed to the stairwell, being renovated, then don't put a customer in those rooms OR warn them to the noise & give them the choice to stay or go elsewhere. It's not difficult! This is what different cultures can get you ....
It's a noisy hotel. Clean but needs work, Would not stay here again. Smoke detector is hanging off the wall. No water pressure when taken a shower. The fitness room is a joke and half the stuff is broken. Keys to rooms kept having to be reset. They said it was the cell phone. Funny but I left mine in the car, Same problem. That everyone else had at the hotel. Go somewhere else.
First the pros - check in by Ebony was fast and efficient. The room was a good size with a long hallway, sofa, refrigerator and microwave. No noticeable noise inside or outside. Now the cons - and there were several. First the Wi-Fi was excruciatingly slow. Oftentimes, it would not connect to any website. After an hour of complaining, I called the front desk and was told she "didn't have access to the unit, only the maintenance guy did" and he wouldn't be back until the morning. She then offered the suggestion to turn off my laptop and turn it back on. Um, ok. Regardless, the Wi-Fi never improved, even the next day when the maintenance guy supposedly reappeared. Next, attempting to ride the elevator down to breakfast, it was apparently the elevator was either stuck or not working. We asked a worker there who replied, Yes, it's broken - it's ALWAYS broken. Not that big a deal since they only have 3 stories, but loading up took more than just one trip up and down the stairs. Next, the breakfast. While the room was not nearly full of people, tables were dirty and never cleaned and many times, items were empty and not refilled, including but not limited to regular coffee and waffle batter - this was not at the end of the breakfast times, in fact it was during the middle. There was worker who appeared to be working hard, but did not have exceptional customer service skills - when someone informed her about the coffee being out, they were told to just wait. After complaining at checkout about all these problems, I was given a small discount on my room rate, however, if these items are not permanently fixed, I'm afraid this place will continue to deteriorate. Keep in mind, the main reason for staying - a good night's sleep - was accomplished. It's just all the extras that were abysmal.
Checked in on 6/25/17 and given a third floor room. ELEVATOR OUT OF SERVICE. Had to carry our luggage up three flights. Lady at desk offered to help carry luggage but I couldn't have her do that. Checked out on 6/28 with elevator still out of service, though it did work for a few hours the prior day. Stayed here two years ago during remodeling ( which we didn't know in advance that the place in disarray) and couldn't use the elevator on check-in due to floor being tiled. The bath tub is the most uncomfortable for lack of standing space, unless you're a child.
I was very thankful to find a place for around $100 a night and it was close enough to Hilton Head for us to go to the beach every day and Savannah, GA one day. Here's the deal: it was good for the price. It wasn't the worst hotel I've stayed in, but certainly not the best. Pros: Breakfast- eggs, bacon, sausage, waffles (my favorite!), cereal, muffins, fruit, yogurt and more. Also, the lady who took care of the breakfast was wonderful and kept it so clean!! Price- I got an awesome price last minute! Location- right next to Kroger and some restaurants. Near Walmart and target and other stores Bed- very comfy king sized bed!! Room size- we got a suite because we needed extra space for our son's pack and play and there was plenty of room! Cons: Elevator- elevator was down the day we got there and didn't work till our last full day there. I believe this was out of the hotel's control and they were having it worked on. But obviously it was inconvenience having an 8 month old and having to carry him to the third floor. On a positive note, the manager's son helped us carry up luggage the day we got there which was so nice. Keys- our keys for deactivated TWICE... during a 4 night stay. We came back after a day out and neither of our keys worked. Our keys were kept in two totally different locations. The lady at the front told us our phones just have deactivated them.... but our phones were not near them at all. Nevertheless, we got them activated and went on our way. The next day, our keys were deactivated.... again. Extremely inconvenient. Bathtub- the tub was TINY. It was hard to stand in the shower. This was weird because the bathroom was very nice! But the tub was very tiny and dirty looking. Also, holes in our shower curtain. Room air flow- which the way our room was set up, the air flow wasn't good at all. We had it on the lowest setting but it never got very cool. Tv- the tv was a little tricky. The remote was not for the tv but a box next to the tv. We finally figured it out, but it seemed silly that this would even be an issue. Bedding- our bedding had a couple stains on it and some holes in it. My husband wanted me to give this hotel two stars, but the price was so good that I didn't let all the problems bother me too much.
