My wife and I stayed in the Harbor room and enjoyed our visit very much. The decoration of the room was marvellous, there was a balcony with a gorgeous view over the bay and the location is very close to town, but doesn't feel like it. I didn't actually meet the owners, but my wife told me they were lovely. There was a lot of frog calling noise at night, and ear plugs are provided, but I found it quite restful. Some drinks facilities in the room would have made the place absolutely perfect.

Our recent trip to Hilo was made perfect at the Bay House Bed and Breakfast. The hospitality of Tom and Tina was over and beyond our expectations. The rooms are simply lovely, beautifully decorated , with extra comfy beds. We spent lots of time on the lanai watching the ocean and views of Hilo. A wonderful breakfast of fresh fruit, banana bread, and eggs was served on lovely china and was so delicious. Our every need was taken care of by Tom and Tina and we left feeling like family! We would recommend the Bay House to anyone who visits Hilo.

We stayed 5 nights in the Palm Room. The room is south side of the house. There’s a nice sound of crashing waves and also, since the house is near the Hawaii Belt Road a fairly constant road noise. The bed was comfortable and the towels in particular soft and bright white. We experienced only two different breakfast menus during our stay, so the food while initially tasty became boring. Amenities were sparse. For example, there were 6 different types of tea bags available, a nice selection, but only one bag of each type. The location is very close to Hilo, but there’s no sidewalk to town and we felt uncomfortable walking close to cars at going 45 mph. Parking in Hilo was readily available.

We stayed here 3 nights as a couple and had a lovely stay. The location is excellent - on the bay, only a couple of mins drive to the center of Hilo. Each room has a lanai looking out over Hilo Bay. Our room was very comfortable and clean, with enough space to spread out. Breakfast was lovely. The hosts are very helpful. I would definitely stay here again.

When we’re traveling, we’re looking for lovely views, clean rooms and a comfortable bed, and a tasty breakfast. We found all this and more at the Bay House. Our Bay Room was charmingly decorated and came with a leather recliner loveseat. We watched surfers and ate breakfast from our lanai. The bathroom was immaculate and well-appointed. Breakfast always included fresh fruit, eggs, bread, coffee and some fresh baked goodie. We could use the refrigerator to store leftovers from lunch which we often ate for dinner on our private lanai.

The Bay House is an ideal location for exploring Hilo and the surrounding area. You are short drive, or even within walking distance of the downtown area. It’s a 45 minute drive to the newly created black sand beach at Pahoa, which we did on Tina’s recommendation. If you go, be sure to treat yourself to lunch at the Pahoa Fresh Fish. We also visited the Tropical Botanical Gardens, Rainbow and Akaka Falls. Oh, and we did some swimming at Carlsmith and Richardson Beach Parks.

Tina was the perfect hostess. She was hospitable and also respected our privacy. She thoughtfully put out wine glasses, chocolates, and popcorn for us in the evening. Hoping we get to return here.

Want a waterfront room with waves lappin or crashing outside your window? This is the spot. The hosts were more than accommodating with recommendations and assistance. They took good care of us. The breakfasts were made to order not only for us, but for our son and daughter-in-law. Refrigerator access and a wonderful bed were icing on the cake. After several visits to other B&B’s in Hawaii this was delightful surprise.

We enjoyed our stay at the Bay House B&B. Beautiful Hawaiian quilts and wooden furniture. Only minor complaint is that the breakfast, while good, included quiche both days. The food was ready at 7 am and left out for pick up, and I might have preferred a warm dish. Room was very clean and comfortable. Plenty of coffee. Great advice on going to the Pohoiki Beach, newest black sand beach in the world, but not excessive amounts of travel advice.

The accommodations were as advertised on their website. We stayed in the Bay Room, with the bed and recliner couch very comfortable. The view into the bay from the deck was nice, and was a nice spot to eat breakfast. Breakfast was good each morning with fresh fruit, coffee, tea, banana bread, and an egg dish. Covered parking was very helpful. The owner was nice and helpful.

Hosts were friendly and had helpful suggestions on places to dine and sites to see. Nice setting but the lack of a/c made it uncomfortable on the hot days/evenings there and required open windows at night. Ceiling fan was most helpful. The noise from tree frogs at night was very loud. Very nice breakfast. Good location for visiting volcano park and other local attractions nearby Hilo.

Our group stayed four nights in the Palm and Harbor Rooms. This was a really nice B&B - clean and comfortable with good breakfasts. The setting is right on Hilo Bay so you have great views of the water and can easily hear the waves. Our group enjoyed breakfast together on the Harbor Room's balcony each morning - you cannot beat this for a beautiful, relaxed way to start the day. I found this to be a convenient location for exploring the east side of the Big Island. Also, the B&B is just a short stroll into the small downtown area of Hilo with shops, restaurants, and a nice Farmer's Market. Christine and her husband were available to provide information or assistance when needed and gave us privacy the rest of the time. Hope to return someday for a longer stay.
