Stayed for one night when we visited Harry Potter studios. Hotel has just been fully refurbished. Lovely rooms. 2 minute walk from Watford Junction train station. Turn right out of the station, hotel sits behind the Flag pub. Quick and easy buffet breakfast included which offered tea, coffee, juice. Cooked breakfast, cereals, fruit, toast. Tea and coffee making facilities in room. We stayed on 4th floor you can hear the trains but it is minimal. Staff polite and helpful.
We chose this hotel as it was perfectly located near to the train station, we came to Watford to visit the Harry Potter Studio. We had no trouble checking in and they let us store our bags before the rooms were ready, we enjoyed our time at the Harry Potter Studio then decided to have Our evening meal in the Hotel. We had to wait over half an hour for food and the restaurant was practically empty then when my food came I was disgusted, the chicken was frozen, not just cold but frozen. I let the staff know and a staff member laughed in my face, extremely rude. I spoke to the manager and he did refund my money for the meal, but the meal should have never left the kitchen... another member of staff stated 'well it only gets microwaved' that is no excuse as to it being brought out frozen, all food should be probed before being served. Breakfast.... was mediocre and nothing was kept stocked up, people Queuing waiting for bacon whilst everything else went cold. As for the rooms I can't fault them they were newly refurbished and we had a comfortable night, really let down by the dining experience and certain members of staffs attitude.
Highly recommend absolutely spotless and very comfortable. Staff are very help and welcoming. Bus for harry Potter studio's just around the corner. Trains also available. Great shopping and restaurants 15 min walk. Everything for short breaks or long what ever works for you. Enjoy
We stayed for 2 nights ( sun and monday)Very close to the train station, our room was 402 and faces the train station the noise didn't bother us at all. The room was newly renovated and it did have a newly renovated smell but once again this didn't bother me, I quite like the smell of decorating (ha) The breakfasts were average, not as great as your normal holiday inn. We ate at the hotel on Monday evening and as my pictures show they were fantastic! Good prices, not much of a wait. I do have a couple of gripes, access to hotel is very poor, my son often got a bit scared as there were homeless people drinking and setting up camp at the building next doors doorway, it's also very dimly lit. Also one of the staff members I think his name was Janos wasn't very approachable. After staying at both this hotel and your other holiday inn in Watford I would go back to the other one purely for location as it's on a brightly lit road and the better breakfast selection.
Booked this as part of a deal with super break & Harry Potter world. Was a great location 30seconds walk from the train station. Parking is £5 for 24hrs which was great although it's a very small car park. The rooms have been recently redecorated and are fab! So clean & modern! Mood lighting & all the mod cons needed for a weekend away. Bathroom is small but has everything you need-no bath but not a problem. Bright and clean and modern with shower gel attached in the shower. Air con in the rooms is great too. Breakfast in the morning was better than expected! I've always had "continental" as toast & pastries but there was a great selection of pastries as well as cereal, beans, scrambled eggs, different breads, sausages & yoghurts. Coffee & juice was refillable too. Great addition! Ice machine in the lobby was also a great addition & also allowed to bring drinks to the room from the lobby bar-£4 for a pint of Guinness. Only downside-the walls/floors are quite thin so we could hear alot of our neighbours.... And once the fast trains start coming through Watford junction the room shook a little but it's to be expected facing the tracks. Would definitely recommend & would certainly stay here again!
Usually when we are visiting Watford we are staying at this property and it was just as expected: Attentive, friendly staff, very clean big rooms, strong hot showers, a good night sleep and an excellent breakfast. The hotel is a 2 minute walk from the train station. There is a short cut behind the next door pub which takes you to the entrance. This time we had a room towards the railroad tracks but you do not hear any trains coming and going. As long as you do not open the window, it will stay that way. On our visit they were still renovating part of the hotel but we did not hear any noise or were disturbed by the work either. All in all again a very pleasant stay.
We stayed here for one night to go to Harry Potter Tour. Its 3 mins walk to the Harry Potter shuttle bus at the Watford station. Hotel Manager is very helpful to provide us with the bus schedule. There is a Bar called The Flag just around the cornor which serves good food. Hotel room is clean and just renovated. The only downside is the newly renovated smell in the room.
Stayed here with my partner on a Saturday night. It's literally a two minute walk from the train station, behind the pub when you come out. Staff are pleasant, rooms are clean and tidy and you can get a bus to the Harry Potter tour from the bus station next to the main train station. Also a short walk into the town centre where the shopping centre is. Good location for those visiting HP, although there is some building work going on during the day which can be rather noisy. Breakfast is pretty poor too.
This hotel was ideal for what we were looking for . We stayed here when we were going to Harry Potter Studios. It's is located 10 mins away and there is a bus running just beside the hotel which costs £3 return. The hotel was lovely and clean and the staff were very helpful.
Stayed for two nights with family - nice size room (double bed and fold out sofa bed). I'd read a number of reviews of how loud the rooms can be given the close proximity to the train station so rang ahead and asked for a quiet room - obviously this couldn't be guaranteed though I was told they would try. We were in room 501 - on the corner over looking the high street and the tracks to the right... every train could be heard clearly... so if it is a quiet room I wouldn't like to be in any of the others! Parking was fine - I expected no spaces (given previous reviews) though when we arrived there were only 5 cars in the car park... we went out that evening and on our return there were still at least 8 free spaces. Evening menu wasn't great which is why we went out (to a local Bella Italia - short distance away). Breakfast - sausages and eggs were disgusting, beans freezing cold. I asked twice for them to bring bread out, which they did do after about 10 minutes. Went to London on our full day - train station within 2 minutes walk. Got back to find that the fold out sofa bed and had been put back to a sofa and there weren't enough towels! No drama to unfold the bed and the receptionist brought a towel after I rang and asked twice. The website clearly advertised that work is being done on the hotel and takes place between 9 and 5... it started just after 9 and was really loud! Wouldn't stay here again.
