Very clean. Bright white linen on the bed and in the en suite with quality shower products. Rooms are either on the ground floor set around a courtyard or up a flight of quite steep stairs which aren't suitable for some people. I had a room upstairs and the bed was a double and quite comfortable. Bathroom seemed to be heated underfloor. Breakfast was freshly prepared and excellent. There is also a choice of cereals and fresh fruit, fruit juice and yoghurt . There is a restaurant which personally I found to be a bit expensive. However ther is a Harvester very close by 0.3 miles which was more than satisfactory. Reception were very helpful. Breakfast was included in the price . All in all a very comfortable stay.
Great for a stop-over and very good value. Booked in for a Saturday night when in the area. Very clean and a decent sized and comfortable room with a generously sized bathroom; with a large free standing bath which was an added bonus. Hotel staff were polite, friendly and helpful. The location on the outskirts of Hemel is convenient for main road routes in the area. Breakfast was pretty standard fare but no complaints. The conservatory/restaurant could do with freshening up with a bit of plasterwork repair and a lick of paint.
Stayed one night (a Friday) when we celebrated a friends birthday nearby. Check in was very friendly and efficient, breakfast was excellent well cooked and prompt. Rooms are a little tired and the shower in the bath didn't stay upright so you had to hold the shower head. Not life or death of course but just needs a little TLC here and there.
Stayed for one night as we had a local engagement. Friendly greeting upon arrival and quick check in. We were offered room 9 and made our way there, seemed ample parking which was nice. The room was a little dated. If you looked closely there were signs all over the hotel. The curtain liners in our room were in shreds and a musky smell. We were advised to book for dinner but found we were the only people in the restaurant although 3 people did come in before we finished. Food was nice although they messed up my steak, well done rather than the medium rare I'd ordered. To be fair without fuss it was removed from the bill. Breakfast was nice and service was very swift which was a nice change. It's close to a busy road junction and not far from a main line rail service so with the windows open expect some noise from traffic and trains. Compared in terms of value for money to other hotels I stay in its not great, which is a shame as the staff are very friendly and welcoming.
We stayed in the Boxmoor lodge for one night as we were guests at a wedding. Check in was quick and efficient and we stayed in room 3. After a lovely wedding where the staff were very pleasant we retired to our room, the mattress was very hard! Not comfortable at all, so after a very late and disruptive night sleep we went to get breakfast only to find they stop serving at 9.30am on a Sunday due to preparing Sunday lunch! To be fair this information is apparently in the room but as we spent such a short time in there i didn't see it. One of the staff did get us tea and toast, but we were only 10 minutes after service had finished! The bathroom looks a little tired and had tiles missing from the walls.
Delightful country guest house. A very warm welcome, comfortable and clean, well equipped rooms. They were facilitating a wedding when we got there so the restaurant was closed but they were happy for us to order in a takeaway meal, and provided plates and cutlery. Breakfast was excellent. All the staff we spoke to were friendly and helpful. It was a pleasure to stay and I would be happy to recommend the Boxmoor to anyone.
This place looks really nice from outside, easy check in etc. I had a nice room upstairs, decor was a little dated but clean and tidy and nice. I didn't eat or go in the pub. I would recomend this place.
Nice looking place outside of hh. No signs for disabled parking and on event days the car park is just rammed. Staff advantage but not friendly as I would expect. Woundnot go again . Let's see how easy it is to leave with my wheelchair customers as it is a gravel car park.
We needed a hotel not far from Whipsnade Zoo, and this seemed to be the best for the money. You have to shop around in this part of the country for a reasonable price for a decent hotel. This ticked all the boxes and was clean, nice room, and I did enjoy the breakfast. Quite close to road and train station, so a little noisy at times, but recommended, but much better than a Travelodge.
Stayed for 2 night 21st July while visiting family in berkhamstead..the hotel was clean and welcoming and in a good area for berkhamstead the staff were more than accomodating and very friendly breakfast was excellent would definitely stay here again
