In extensive secluded grounds immediately adjacent to the town Centre this gets top rating for location, and its public areas including a quiet well laid out garden terrace. The restaurant has a wide selection to choose from and the service was good except when under pressure. The downside is that the hotel has no ground floor rooms and no disabled facilities and some of the double rooms are very small and inadequately furnished as they lack storage space. The twin rooms are larger with plenty of drawers for clothes and personal items. rooms. "Superior rooms face the gardens and apparently are similar to standard rooms in l other respects. The bathrooms are very good. To access the rooms there is a staircase but no lift. .We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay except for the smallness of our superior room which was very disappointing. The staff and Manager were very efficient and helpful during our two night stay
Room are fine - nice size but nothing spectacular - bathroom could do with a overhaul - not terrible just showing signs off age and use. I suspect this may be happening as we had a room overlooking the side car park (the usual classy bins/delivery area) and there were a few old baths piled up there. Great location and coming from the motorway, you don't have to negotiate the towns narrow streets and one way system. Nice big car park and very easy walk into the town (quite literally 5 minutes) Staff are friendly, but very young team and lack experience on how to deal with issues and deliver great customer experience. Couple of instances stick out - when we arrived we were told a room rate that was higher than we had originally booked at, luckily we had our email booking confirmation, it was changed but no real apology and just a bland statement that it was the computers fault - it was only £10 different, but hey it all counts. Later the same day we had a tea, coffee and cake in the afternoon - one of us ordered carrot cake but was given banana cake - when we mentioned it, we got a shrug with an explanation that was what the chef had given them to serve - admittedly we ate it, but disappointing no offer of replacement or bill reduction!
This was our first visit to The Chase and hopefully, it won't be our last. The Reception area with its Minton tiles, beautiful staircase and stained glass window is stunning. What a first impression! A friendly welcome from the receptionist and she asked if we'd like a porter to carry our luggage. Our room was on the top floor and was large, very clean and comfortable. The bathroom was also pretty big. We had lovely views out onto the lawn and gardens. Breakfast the next morning was superb (and included in the room price. We booked directly through the hotel). There was a large choice of fruit, juices, cereal, yogurt and pastries. There was also a large choice of cooked breakfasts to choose from (I recommend the Eggs Benedict!) and the full English is huge! The hot food is cooked to order and very good quality. There was lots of toast and a large pot of tea. Oh, and before we went out in the evening, we were able to borrow an umbrella from Reception! I highly recommend this hotel, particularly for a romantic break.
This place is lovely. We have always driven passed here so on a day off my wife and I popped in for lunch. Great service and great food. My wife loved the cheese souffle and I had the cheese burger which was constructed perfectly.
My wife has cancer, so we stayed here so she could visit and her family could visit her. We initially wanted to stay just two nights, but decided to stay another night. Due to friendly staff, a top hotel receptionist and so disabled access friendly. Lovely clean grounds, room and facilities. Top marks. Mr and Mrs Applin.
Exceptional afternoon tea. One of the best Groupon deals experienced this far. Sandwiches were fresh with plentiful filling, scones were lovely, ample cream provided, fruit tartlets etc. all top notch. Lovely setting and helpful attentive service. Pity it is so far from Oxford.
Visited here after buying a Groupon voucher. Was very pleased at the ease of booking a slot. The hotel is well sign posted and has a large car park. Also very close to broad of shops which are very quant. The staff signed us In quickly and we're very friendly. The afternoon tea itself consisted of refillable tea or coffee. My friend added an extra glass of procecco which she really enjoyed. We have a three tier stand consisting of ham and mustard sandwiches, egg and cress, and salmon also mini quiche tart. Then scones and a selection of puds. A good quality selection. All very tasty and good portion. We took some away with us. Well worth a visit.
We used a Groupon voucher which was afternoon tea for two for £19.99. The sandwiches were lovely and fresh and the cakes were delicious too! The waiter was very friendly and offered us re-fills on our hot drinks. Overall a very enjoyable afternoon and would recommend!
A weekend away in a party of 19 people to celebrate 70th birthdays this year. Hotel was comfortable, we were well looked after and the food was very good. Great location for the centre of Ross-on-Wye and visiting local places of interest. WiFi was a bit iffy but good to get away from it for a weekend.
