What a gorgeous light stone old renovated farmhouse with periwinkle blue shutters overlooking the beautiful valley below. It comes with outside tables for dining where we enjoyed amazing breakfasts, a few friendly cats and Faustino, the large sweet dog that apparently adopted the Villa as home. Plus, lovely plantings, a pool, and Babis, the owner of this very tasteful B and B in the wine country south of Iraklion. Babis is so helpful re the surrounding area and places to visit, and we were lucky enough to dine at the Villa one evening, the meal prepared by Georgina. Instead of staying in the big city, this is a great base to use for the area. We visited Knossos from here and you can venture to many other sites and beaches as well.
My husband and I are finishing up our too-short-stay here at Villa Kerasia. Bobsi the owner is wonderful and accommodating and the place is simply enchanting. It took him 4 years to renovate the structure, which dates back from the 1700's, then was renovated in 1883, but had fallen into disrepair. What he has done here is nothing short of remarkable. It is comfortable and relaxing while being elegant at the same time. The sweet cats wander in and out, just adding to the homey ambiance. Most of his guests are repeat guests and I can certainly see why. Well done Bobsi!
This was our first time we have not been accommodated by the sea on Crete and I must say, we picked the right place to stay at. Villa Kerasia is greatly built, stone building with quite decent garden and a swimming pool in the middle of the island and in the middle of a really steep slope. Great place to be. You will enjoy your stay since the very first moments you will turn right in Venerato to pass trough this specatacular region up there. Babis is the man on the right place. You can feel how much care he puts into running this place. We got nice room with the mountain view, but it was great as well. Spacious, well equipped, large bathroom with everything you may need. Few first days we had a broken fridge, which was kindly covered by letting us use the big one downstairs. Well, you really feel like you are welcomed and like Babis is really happy that you have come. That’s what makes staying at an unknown accommodation unforgettable experience. The breakfast… is sooooo good. Love the fresh juice, love the great variety of choice. Nothing is problem and you will definitely get your energy for the day. Sitting on sunny terrace surrounded by cats and dog every morning is something I slightly miss back home. As the Villa stands quite isolated, you should have your own car to go for trips, but I can imagine sitting by the pool all day long with such a nice view might be interesting as well for someone. Thank you, Babis, it was nice stay!
We had a great stay at villa Kerasia and would highly recommend to all travellers looking for an amazing boutique experience and true local hospitality in Crete. Babis and his team ensured we had a fantastic stay. By far the best value quality ratio we've seen anywhere around the world including Asia.
As you walk up the front steps you fell a warm welcoming kiss on the cheek, an 1883 traditional country house re-constructed out of old stones salvaged from the original house, you fell that breeze like an old friend telling you all the stories of the years that had now gone, you smell the mint, the lemon balm, the garlic chives...you taste a pomegranate from an over 200yrs old tree and drink Babis home brew wine while cracking the almonds that fall on the table from the wind... what a wonderful place to read the most uplifting book (the kindness diary by Leon liogothetics) and meditate on the past the present and the future... Ignore the fact that there is no coco mattresses, after all happiness is an attitude there is so many positives about this place...I would love to live here maybe one day
We wanted to start in a mountain location and choose Villa Kerasia. Babis, the owner provides a wonderful experience with clean comfortable rooms, a fantastic view of the valleys nearby, superb breakfast and don't miss out on the dinners. They were a delight. This is a magical place and a must visit. It's a short taxi ride from Herald on airport.
-We have stayed at Villa Kerasia for 5days from 14th of August and enjoyed every second of it. Magnificent surrounding, beautiful “Archonitiko” ( a restored old manor house with interesting background), great view (someone can see most of Heraklion municipality from there) but what makes the difference is Babis (the owner). -Babis can make you feel that you are “the distinguished guest” of the house, he is a very knowledgeable person a great winemaker (you should try his wines left on your room). Villa Kerasia is one great place and you will enjoy every second of it
Beautiful villa with courtyard full of trees and flowers. The owner is very friendly and can give precious advice about beautiful and side roads. Amazing breakfast with fresh local products, Very close to Heraklion and convenient for daily trips
We stayed three nights at Villa Kerasia to celebrate our 10th anniversary and everything was simply perfect! Babis is a gracious host with loads of great tips for touring in Crete. The breakfast is good and fresh, full of fruit from Babis’ orchids. We had dinner in one of the days and the food was exceptional. A lovely conversation with two other families was a great bonus. The pool, the room, the view were very good and the staff was exceptionally gracious. I highly recommend Villa Kerasia P.s- the cats were extra sweet!
Lovely, peaceful B and B with a nice pool and beautiful views of the countryside. Located in the hills far from the traffic and commotion, but less than 30 min. drive to Heraklion and Knossos. Babis is a wonderful host, the rooms are comfortable and spacious (and very quiet), and the breakfasts are great. Highly recommended.
