From start to finish Galaxy Villas was a pleasure to stay in. It was spotless, the staff were so lovely and attentive. The pool was great fun and the food was wonderful. We stayed in August and for a family of four it was perfect. My youngest had so much fun in the (deep) pool and the oldest loved chilling on the sunbeds drinking fresh orange juice. The location was great and the lanes and restaurants around it were so welcoming and beautiful. We can't wait to go back. Thank you for a wonderful holiday x

Stayed here in October. We arrived very late at night. Had issues with our room which were dealt with very quickly. The reception staff are very friendly and kind. Dimitris allocated another room with which we were delighted and enjoyed the rest of our stay. The location is perfect , main town not too far away, the old villages nearby are delightful. One of the best selection of restaurants we have ever had on holiday. There are a lot of steps so it's not great for anyone with limited mobility. The gardens are lovely and the pool are well maintained. Pool itself a little too deep for me, but I am not a great swimmer. Our room was spacious , cleaned often, great views , real privacy, basic kitchen facilities Breakfast is available , bar staff are kind and friendly , always smiling. We had a lovely relaxing stay here at Galaxy and hope to return next summer. Thank you dimitris and your staff you are all very kind.

I have only just got round to writing this review. Me and my boyfriend stayed here this year in July. Fantastic place and very welcoming, friendly and helpful staff. The villas/rooms are fairly basic but perfect for a place to put your head down. Really lovely breakfast and great place to chill around the pool in the sun. Brilliant location to explore the local area; down the big hill is the main town (strip in a way) with the beach and loads of lovely restaurants and bars. There is a small village (old town) a small walk down the road with again lovely restaurants and bars (a bit more traditional) - I recommend Sofas restaurant and Greko Bar. We had a small problem in our room with ants due to the very hot weather, however, the staff sorted this straight away and it didn't bother us again!

I have seen some negative reviews on Trip Advisor regarding this hotel but you pay for what you get. Galaxy Villas is not a 5 star hotel but it is great value for money. We visited in September and we had a pleasant stay. The staff were very friendly and went above and beyond to cater for our needs. Our room was clean and tidy. It was cleaned every other day, we had no faults with our room. It’s obvious reading other reviews, some of the rooms were not as good as ours. The pool is very deep, I wouldn’t say it is kid friendly. Overall the hotel could do with a freshen up. The location is perfect, right next to a sports bar and bakery. Also a short walk to many restaurants and bars in Koutolofari.

First off, I want to say that the boys at the reception desk and the lady at the bar were very helpful. Also, if the site you book with, tells you that you are booking the only room left, don't be naive, either book elsewhere or contact the hotel to make sure you don't get room 35.. it's awful! This hotel has A LOT of stairs.. stairs to get to reception, stairs to go down to the location of the villa and stair to get into the villa. We had villa 35: if you're offered this villa, ask for a change immediately!! There are tiles in the room but only on the entrance, the kitchenette and the bathroom.. everywhere else the floor is just plain concrete. There were plenty of mosquitos and, like everywhere else in crete, the cicadas will wake you up. The mosquitos love villa 35 because it's dark unless you opened the shutters, in which case the room heats up something unreal.. The windows had gaps around the frames, so the mosquitoes always managed to get in.. the kitchen window had a massive gap, which was, I'm sure was the mosquitoes main entrance. It also did not have a curtain.. we used one of the towels as a curtain. I had to buy a plug-in mosquito repellent but it didn't work.. I then bought mosquito killer spray and that had some effect.. we also had to light up citronella candles as soon as we got to the villa and all this combined seemed to lessen the mosquito presence. . But still every night we were bitten.. The aircon has to be on all day if you want any chance at a full night sleep night, as it's on the "living room" and the shape of villa 35 doesn't really allow for air from the aircon to reach the room, much less with the bedroom door closed, which we had to semi-close as the window with no curtain has a clear view of the dresser in the bedroom. The cleaning lady was either too busy or not too fussed about our room: she emptied the bathroom bin every day and the ashtray but never ever cleaned the ashtray, we had to instead if my bf wanted a clean ashtray every day.. the whole service took no longer than 10mins.. this is the first holiday in which I refused to leave the cleaner a tip. The shower curtain is too short and water from the shower goes all over the floor.. I guess that explains the tiles.. The cleaning lady decided to leave our Windows (with the shutters closed) open one day.. when we came back, there was a cokroach in our room, right on the frame of the window that had been left open. These windows are "french style" meaning that they are full length doors. Their shutters are rickety at best and had even more gaps around the edges than the windows did. I wonder if she once thought about our belongings.. our bedroom window and the living room window were both left open.. We killed the roach and i went to complain the the guy on the reception desk. He told me they didn't have roaches at the hotel, that it had probably flown in on a current from Africa, but that they would fumigated the next morning to make sure. Unfortunately the next day, the cleaner had left the french windows open again.. The pool was always busy and one day there were even builders working on the floor around the pool... we were not informed of this, not that it mattered because the pool is too small and all the parasols were always "booked" by towels of guests on the pool's surrounding rooms.. we prefered the sea anyway, even if it cost an additional £12 every day.. The balcony that we had outside the living room was unusable as the ivy is overgrown and with plenty of spider webs.. my bf had to go on the stairs at the entrance to the villa if he wanted to smoke. When we checked out the guy at the desk was very apologetic on behalf of the hotel and he did mention that we did have the right to request a room change during our stay, but we were convinced that we were in the only available room which is why we never considered it.. The roach incident was close to the end of our holiday but it was enough to not let us sleep (not to metion being constantly bitten by mosquitos, which was already a problem for us). The first good point were the kitties that live in koutouloufari and visited the hotel.. you could see them around the green areas. We booked galaxy villas because we had stayed at their Iraklio hotel.. but they are worlds apart in terms of quality.. at least this is my opinion based on villa 35.. The boys at the desk and the lady at the bar did provide a good service which is the last good thing we can say about the hotel. Probably our worst experience on this holiday. Sorry galaxy but you need to update villa 35 immediately.

My partner and I were looking for a little getaway and we feel we hit the jackpot with Galaxy Villas. The villa was spacious with a balcony and sea view. It had everything we needed and it was well serviced (fresh towels almost every day, plenty of hot water etc.). The staff were lovely and really made us feel welcomed. Apo kept us entertained at the bar and Dimitrios and Michalis were always on hand to give tips on the local area. The location of the villas suited us perfectly. It was away from the hustle and bustle of the larger Star Beach resort and had a very relaxed feel about it. A big plus was that Koutolofari has the most amazing restaurants each with its own ambiance. If you like eating out then the location of Galaxy is perfect! I’d definitely revisit.

We stayed in a one-bedroomed apartment for 2 weeks in October. I emailed several weeks beforehand to request an upper floor room as I am allergic to cats and didn't want them coming into a ground floor apartment. We arrived at 9.30pm (note that Thomsons transfer takes over 2 hours and drops you at Sunrise apartments about 5 minutes walk away) and were shown to room 37 which was on the first floor. There was a bedroom with twin beds and a lounge area with 2 sofas, also a kitchen/dining area. It was spacious but there was a step from the kitchen down to the bedroom and also a step from the kitchen down to the living area so you had to be aware of these. Luckily we didn't have any mishaps. There were also a lot of steps from the entrance of the hotel down to Reception and then more steps down past the pool to our apartment then even more steps up to the apartment. However, the staff on Reception helped us with our cases both on arrival and departure. Just something to be aware of if you have limited mobility. We are in our 60s and managed fine. There were two large wardrobes but a total of 3 hangers in both of them together. Not really adequate for 2 people for a fortnight. So we didn't unpack until the following day when they brought us another 6, still not really enough but it did the job. We also requested mattress toppers from our maid and she brought them straightaway. I had requested a sea view and we could just about see the sea and the boats in Hersonnisos harbour but the view was mostly obscured by trees. We did have an issue with ants on several days outside the apartment door and reported this to Reception but they said they would deal with it the following morning. We managed to sort it ourselves with the aid of some boiling water and the following day someone sprayed insecticide but a couple of days later they were back so I just bought some ant killer from the shop across the road. There is a lovely bakery next door where there will make you baguettes to order with the filling of your choice for only 2 euros. Lovely girls in there too. The pool area is very nice and we always managed to get sunbeds but I can imagine in high season this could be a problem. Several cats wander around the pool area and on the last day there were two little kittens which people were feeding - I don't see how they will survive when the season finishes next week to be honest. We had drinks from the bar most days and were served by the lovely Sofia, always smiling and polite. We also ate lunch there one day which was very nice. The best thing about the hotel is the location. Come out and turn right and you are spoilt for choice for bars and restaurants although towards the end of our holiday many had already closed for winter. Our favourite was Nikos the Fisherman just up the hill. I would definitely stay at the Galaxy Villas again but I think it is a bit of a gamble which room you get - I definitely wouldn't want a ground floor room overlooking the gardens as they appeared very dark. We were happy with our room but we never got the sun on our balcony at any time of day but it didn't affect our holiday, we just went and sat at the bar or at the pool. Due to the disastrous Thomsons transfer on arrival we booked a taxi on departure from Creta Taxis which only cost €30 - well worth the money and only a 20 minute journey.

Stayed there just over a week ago. We were given a much larger apartment than we expected with lovely views. Other comments have said the accommodation is basic but I think simple is fairer description. It has everything you need, it's very clean and spacious. The gardens are lovely and the staff are charming and helpful. The location is really good ...close to the centre of the village and many good restaurants. Just one thing is that noticed a small family of cats living in the garden who could have used some TLC. Please, if hotel owners just did a bit more on the cat welfare front everyone would notice, including the cats, and it would improve the resort experience. Perhaps a local initiative by all readers in the village would help ...great example being set by Villa Ippocampi who promote the cat neutering scheme.

We researched this holiday extensively using Tripadvisor etc and now realise that that Galaxy accommodation varies from an adequate 3 star to a very grim 1 star - are you feeling lucky? Public areas and pool are beautiful, but accommodation is generally very tired. Here follows our recent experience. Due to this being a very special holiday (my wife's 70th birthday) and whilst on holiday in Elounda in June, we visited Galaxy to check it out. We told Reception about my wife's birthday and requested a sea or pool view, but especially a higher floor as I am prone to infection from mosquito bites. At the time we were assured by Reception that we would get "a nice room". On arrival we were shown to a ground floor apartment with a vastly overgrown terrace with a dirt floor and no views whatsoever. (A mosquito's paradise!!). We immediately refused this room. We spent the night in a ground floor studio with the promise of suitable accommodation the following day. Monday - The apartment was adequate but missing several items. These consisted of; some crockery and glassware, a kettle, various chairs and back cushions for settee's. As there was only the 2 of us, we managed when we were supplied with a kettle. No so for a family of 4, but we did not complain. Tuesday morning at 04:30am, we were awoken by a faulty smoke alarm battery. Obviously not happy at that time in the morning. Wednesday morning, woke to no power. Reset the power supply several times, reported the fault to reception and was told 3 times that we must have overloaded the supply, even though I told him that the power was off when we woke up! Reception told us that he would get it checked. Later that day, we were told that the power supply had been checked and there was no fault. Thursday morning again no power, but this time I could not reset it. Told Reception and he came to our room. After checking himself and making a phone call to someone, we were told that the electrical fault was caused by the boiler and he needed to disconnect it. He would arrange for an Engineer to attend at 11:00 am on Friday morning. Friday morning at 06:30am, my wife (who is registered as being partially sighted and 70 years old) went to the bathroom and almost slipped as the apartment floor was flooded, the water coming from the boiler. After attempting to stem the water flow with various towels, I ran to Reception and a maid told me that Reception only opened at 08:00am. Eventually the maid and the gardener came to try and help as best they could, until Reception staff attended at approximately 08:30am. That was the first 5 days of a 7 day holiday, to celebrate my wife's 70th Birthday!!!!!!!

So many positive things to say I'm not sure where to start :) Typical Cretan friendly welcome; efficient, professional staff; spacious accommodation which was clean and well equipped; good location within the village with supermarket opposite. We arrived late on a Saturday night to find that we had been upgraded from a studio to an apartment with separate kitchen and living area, the next morning we found we also had a sea view :) I had asked for a room with not too many steps, if possible, as I have a dodgy knee and after a fall on a previous holiday (not at the galaxy) I was concerned about coping with too many stairs. We were given room 5 on the same level as Reception so only 1 flight of stairs :) and staff took our suitcases up and down the stairs, which was greatly appreciated. The kitchen was well equipped with a fridge, kettle and mini oven/grill and 2 rings, lots of crockery, cutlery and glasses although we didn't cook anything, apart from boiled eggs for breakfast one morning. The shower was the only one in Greece that we've had where you don't flood the whole room. It was good to have the hairdryer in the bedroom by the mirror with a light over it too. Towels and sheets were changed regularly and cleaners came in almost every day to make the beds and empty the bins etc. We had a large walled terrace/patio overlooking the pools and the bar area which felt private. The hotel has a restaurant but the staff were happy for us to order food and bring it to us on our terrace which we did several times during our stay. The weather was also really kind to us, 1 short afternoon shower during the 2 weeks, warm during the day but chilly at night. Thank you to all the staff for a lovely holiday and hope o be back soon.
