I am not normally one to write bad reviews, as I realize no one or no business is perfect and makes mistakes. I also realize that this is a Hampton Inn...where expectations should be on the low side because the bed sheets are generally scratchy and the walls are paper thin. However, if I could rate 0 stars, I would because I have never had a customer experience quite like the one I had with the staff at Hampton Inn in Laurel, MS. Long story short, the hotel charged me twice for my stay. Instead of working to solve their mistake when I first called to report the issue, they refused to take the blame and said there was simply nothing they could do. After getting my bank involved, they reluctantly began to look into it (at their own leisurely pace.) On several occasions, the staff (several people in separate phone calls) raised their voice to yell at me over the phone, deeply sighed as I asked for simple requests such as receipt confirmations, interrupted me, and even hung up on me. The general manager, Marilyn, being one of these persons. If you HAVE to stay here or have to discuss any issues with the staff here, I suggest you request to speak with the assistant manager named Michael because he is the only level-headed person who works at this hotel. After the final phone call where the staff member taunted me to "go ahead" when I threatened to take the issue to the corporate level, I did just that. Corporate customer relations apologized profusely, obviously embarrassed for their branch and staff in Laurel, MS. They took over and handled the issue smoothly and calmly, like anyone who works in sales or a service industry should. As for this Hampton Inn in Laurel, you've been warned.
The hotel was a clean comfortable place, The breakfast could have had a little more variety, like fruit, and some bacon or sausage. The maid service could have made bed right, (not just pulled up). I was a little surprised
Can you think back when you stepped into a hotel and could see and smell the cleanliness.This hotel is just that. Hospitality and smiles made us decide upon next visit this hotel is our choice. Hands Up!
Most of the staff were friendly and helpful except the day time manager Rhonda. She was quite rude. The night shift manager was quite friendly and helpful. The breakfast staff was quite friendly and helpful, too. The room was clean except the toilet seat was quite low which means it is outdated.
The location is very good. Everything you need is available within a short drive from the hotel. Breakfast was good. Bed needed a new mattress, but otherwise very comfortable. The staff resolved issues quickly and with a smile.
The city had a water issue that affected this Hampton Inn. While the water problem could not be avoided, to maintain the price of the room without water was not acceptable. The water remained off from check in to check out. Not acceptable for over $100 per night.
Everything about our stay was excellent. The room was comfortable and clean. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The free breakfast was outstanding. Laurel is an odd little town, but if you passing through the area, this is a great place to stay.
Was here on business and decided to stay at this hotel. Beautiful hotel right off the interstate and easy access to down town laurel and the main drag were all the shopping is. The room was clean, breakfast was good with plenty of healthy options as well as the classics.
We've often stayed here since it's close to my daughter's who may not always be able to accommodate us. The staff are always friendly and the facility is always clean. I definitely recommend this hotel.
Would recommend to anyone staying in the area. Close to restaurants and easy to find. Utilized online check in and everything was ready when I arrived. Complimentary breakfast was good. Internet service was good.
