Checked into room, it was filthy. Bathtub was stained very badly. Floor was not vacummed. Literally balls of hair. Went to front desk and noticed hallways were dirty. They showed me two other rooms and the only one acceptable was a handicapped room. They had many other handicap accessible rooms. But manager would not allow us to move to one. Checked out went across the street to a best western and stayed there. CHOICE HOTELS is quickly losing my business. Diamond Elite customer
While our room appeared clean it was grungy (i.e. stained carpet, patched walls, a shower/tub so stained it cried out to be avoided. The entire hotel is in need of a complete an through overhaul. If I ran the Comfort Suites chain I'd ask that they either shape up or take my sign down - it reflects badly on the entire chain. The bed and breakfast was OK and the AC worked everything else just looked old and grungy.
The best thing I can say about this hotel is that the staff is super friendly and helpful. We stayed here using Choice Points and we are sorry we wasted them. The hotel is shabby and in a noisy location. The hotel needs a lot of repair and upgrades beyond a new coat of paint. Tiles in the bathroom were loose, there were dings on the walls painted over, and the electrical receptacles had nothing but loose sockets a true sign of age and potential hazard. I love Choice Hotels but found this one way below their standards.
Stayed here for four nights while doing business 1 1/2 hours away across border in Alabama. Just off I-59. Food and convenience within a very short walk. Place seemed almost completely empty all four nights. Lots of parking on three sides of Hotel but very dark lot(s). Front desk staff was friendly and efficient. The Hotel is layed out in a weird triangle pattern, signs showing room numbers are confusing and not helpful. The common areas and hallways are dirty and beat up, carpet ancient and worn. My Non-Smoking King Suite smelled oh so faintly of the ominpresent cigarette stink, not near as bad as many Choice Hotels. Otherwise the room was clean, nicely furnished, totally quiet every night. Direct TV with over 100 channels. The AC / Heater worked great and was quiet. The breakfast was good each morning, hot sausage / eggs, waffle maker, good choice of juices / cereal. The young lady who attended the breakfast did a great job and was friendly. Price was around $100 total / night. About 2 1/4 hours to New Orleans Airport from here. Recommend this Hotel as a good place to stay about 1/3 of the way from New Orleans to Birmingham.
ZERO HOSPITALITY! We had over 15 rooms booked for a youth baseball tournament and they acted like the kids were animals. They complained about them being in the pool all the time. (Hello it's hot and they are 10yrs old) The front desk acted like it was such a "bother" every time we asked for anything! Our rooms were never serviced the entire time. We had to leave the garbage and cans outside in the hall to get them emptied. I asked for new towels every morning and didn't get them till late afternoon. The washing machine jammed and they refused to give me my money back. The parents used the lobby for meeting area and the staff complained about that. They complained when the parents hung out outside under the portico (it was raining and no where else to go). And it's not like this is a busy destination with a line of people waiting to check in. I've stayed in hotels w/ groups before for baseball and motorcycle events, and every one of them worked with the group there.....NOT this place. The worst hospitality I've ever seen. I would never recommend this hotel. There are other options right down the road
As a musician traveling from point A to point B, I checked in late, and the front desk person was great, went to the room, showered and slept and was out by 7am. No problems here. I did not go to inspect the hotel. The AC was on and great when I arrived, the water was hot and the TV worked, as well as that fancy electricity. I use this chain across the country because I know what to expect every time I go.
My sister and I stayed here for one night. Sure, it's an older hotel and yes there were a few stains on the carpet. It was late when we went to bed and the next morning my sister yelled for me to come to the bathroom. She pulled back the shower curtain and oh my goodness......... black mold everywhere! We called the clerk from the front to come and take a look. She brought the housekeeper with her and began telling us that what we were looking at was grout! Now, I tried every way to make her SEE what we were talking about but over and over she stated that this bathroom was one of the "New remodels" and we were seeing grout. My sister showed her a washcloth with black on it and the clerk STILL would not budge on the grout. Now I'm having my intelligence insulted. We then showed her the nasty dirty floor. Nope, that was grout too. As we exited the hotel not completing our reservation. I suggest the local health department pay a visit to this hotel and check out all of the rooms.
Gross hotel. The rooms are nasty, filthy, and poorly lit even if you are given a "cleaned" room. It is very dated and not well maintained. The room we were given had very stained carpet, broken furniture, a bathroom in need of a remodel, and was poorly lit. I doubt the housekeeper did more than make the beds because it was dirty. We are not overly picky people, but this hotel was one of the worst we have ever stayed in. Either book a different hotel or keep driving if you can.
My friend and I arrived on a Thursday evening after a 13 hour day. In attempting to pay cash we were told a rather curt 'no'. When did cash become a bad way to pay. We were told we had to put up an extra $150 if we were paying cash. The two of us have a median age of 64, with five kids and four grandkids between us. We were not going to tear up their place. Upon checking out Friday morning we discovered we could not pay with cash then. "I'm kinda new on the desk and don't know how to remove the credit card charge so you can pay with cash." Holy Cow. Don't tell me I can pay cash one night then say no the following morning. I now had a charge on my credit card when I was standing there with cash in hand. The wi-fi never worked during our stay. We left before the breakfast nook opened and thus had to stop on the road. Worst experience at a motel since the 1980s in Kansas. NEVER AGAIN at his location, and I had made this a 'destination stop' based on a previous stay.
Was in a hurry and booked this hotel based on experience with other Comfort Suites... as well as the "appearance" of the pics on the Choice Hotels website. Boy were they deceiving!!! The place was dated, dirty, dingy and smelly. But being that it was late evening, and the Hampton was $140 bucks, I decided I would tough it out... that is until I started looking at he "dark spots" on the white bedding. And as I approached for a closer look, those "dark spots" started crawling around. Well I was out of there then. Had the desk clerk check me out and went to the Hampton and paid the $140. By the time I got to my new room at the Hampton, I was itching and breaking out in red blotches. Well after a VERY long shower and a dose of Benadryl I feel some better...but lessen learned. All Comfort Suites are not created equal. It is disappointing (if not appalling) that Choice Hotels lets this property keep their franchise!
