Visiting Hershey, this hotel seems to have been around for a while with what seems like little to no updates. They advertise there is a BBQ and picnic area. 1 worn outdoor grill and dirty area with a bench. I did not use the pool but the family's there were well enjoying it. My room, 814, had a dark entrance under stairs, almost like I was going into the basement of the building. Room was clean but well worn. Breakfast was good, fresh, and tasty. Hotel personnel were friendly, but had already checked in a couple under my reservation! by mistake! and had given me their room key! I had gone back to the front desk and the manager had corrected the issue. I think it was a major issue, thankfully the couple weren't there when I opened the door. It is in an industrial park with trucking and warehouses, not the normal settings for a Residence Inn, but from my room, there was no truck noise. Only looked out at a brick wall of the other building. Upstairs guest's had a noisy bed, nuff said.

If you are going to Hershey Park, the location is alright, but you could do better. We rented a loft suite for two adults and three kids. * The lofts are on the second floor, which if difficult to carry luggage up to if you have large suitcases. * The room was dirty, there was dirty dishes in the cupboard, no dish soap and dishwasher detergent to wash them. We got in late, but the housekeeping was still working (around 9:00 pm-ish), so luckily we could get some. * There was a dirty washcloth hanging from the shower rod in the upstairs loft bathroom. * There was hair all over the bathroom floors. The toilet water was yellow, so I am assuming the toilets were not cleaned on the first floor bathroom. * Breakfast area was terrible, and the straw that broke the camels back with that hotel. There were three breakfast attendants, and they were all in the prep room talking, meanwhile, there was no food or silverware left, and tables were dirty. So long story short, we were not happy with our stay there and thankfully were allowed to check-out early without a charge. We stayed one night there.

When I arrived and I checked in around 7/8pm the front desk woman called to another on her walkie talky, asking about which queen suits were available- the woman replied room 921 and another room. The front desk said ok that’s good because I didn't show that room as ready in the computer. I got my room key and brought my children and bag to the room. When I got into my room every single cabinet door was open in the kitchen, and bathroom as well as the closet doors and the phone was off the hook… I thought was extremely strange. I tried to lock the bolt on the door but it wouldn't lock or even click either I opened the door to see if the bolt would come out when I turned it, nothing- I messed with it for a few minutes and it was not working. I called the front desk asking if it was normal that the phone was off the hook and every cabinet door and door was wide open in the room with the phone off the hook- they replied the maid probably did that... I stated again, is that normal its very strange, they said yes, sorry it must have been the maid. I should have listened to my gut because it was just the weirdest experience. I inquired about the lock working- The woman said the lock would not make a sound but I knew it was broken, it there was no lock coming out or mechanism moving, no sound, nothing. I've stayed in thousands of hotels and never had a lock not work on the door or seen every cabinet wide open with the phone off the hook. The kids and I were so tired from being at Hershey park all day, I put my bag down and put them in the car to grab a bite to eat. When I came back which was probably 9:30pm or so I pulled the comforter back from the bed a little to get ready to put my kids in the bed and I noticed 7/8 little black dots so I brushed it off and moved the blankets back more to see a lot of random scattered little black dots all over the bed. Yes, I took pictures. There was pubic hair on the sheets, there was NO mattress cover only a single very, very thin sheet on the mattress that was covered with tiny black bugs. I called the front desk very freaked out told them what was going on and they said they would call someone to come up and check it out- the more I looked and the closer I looked at the bed the more I began to feel sick with disgust. The pillows had shows of dirt rings on it. Filthy. I told my kids to get their shoes on because we are not staying here. I called the front desk back a min later and told them I am not staying in this room and they needed to figure it out immediately. They called me back in 7 mins or so and said to come down to the front desk to get keys to a different room (not an apology, not an explanation) and I said I may not stay, its now 10pm and I would rather risk driving home 3 hours than feel uncomfortable in a room that’s not clean. I stated I want to see the room before I say yes to stay because this is now a health issue. They said I could see the room first. I asked if it was normal that they do not have mattress covers or multiple sheets on their beds? She said they are supposed to have mattress covers on every bed and said the room she has available has a cover on the bed. I have Never stayed anywhere with no mattress cover or multiple layers of sheets nor have I stayed anywhere where there are black bugs on the damn bed! I put the kids and my bag in the car and I went to the front desk, at this point I'm so upset and freaked out and disgusted. I refuse to lay my babies down on a filthy bed. I will bet money they just sprayed to exterminate the room, which would explain why all the cabinets and doors were open. Im beyond disgusted. I told the lady at the front desk, I am leaving, I don’t want to see the other room- I have no faith that its clean and up to industry standards especially since they would provide me a room like the one I just came from. She said she would reimburse my points.

If I could leave less than one star I would. Before you stay here ask yourself how much you would pay for a room with garbage from the previous guest, feces all over the inside of the toilet, dead bugs near the garbage can and brown water coming out of the bathtub. Seriously that's what we encountered in our stay...i can't make this up and they were booked solid and wouldn't give me another room. The Hotel Manager was conveniently off during this weekend and even though I asked that they call me they never did. I even contacted the Marriot customer service and was never responded to. This place could care less about their customers. I won't give them another dime of my money when there are cleaner places to stay. Seriously I would have rather slept in my car and probably should have.

I generally enjoy stays at Residence Inn; not this one. My family stayed 2 nights during the Memorial Day weekend. There were two major issues: one, the bathroom we stayed was quite dirty. The shower curtain was broken and heavily stained, and the tub was clogged. Shower became something quite painful during the stay. Two, the breakfast was quite terrible. Fruits were bad/stale, a lot of food and coffee were missing/unavailable for long periods of time. I guess part of the reason was the breakfast was under-staffed during the holiday but I wouldn’t fully understand food/fruits being stale. Clearly other guests were also in disbelief of the breakfast experience. Overall an unhappy stay.

We stopped in at the residence inn Harrisburg. Very nice staff, room was very clean. We used the indoor pool warm and relaxing. The mix was great for a supperband can’t wait for breakfast this morning. Great experience

Stayed at Residence Inn Harrisburg from Feb. 8 to Feb 11, 2018. Never again. I received a discount for booking a room with Marriott that I had found offered at a cheaper price online through a third party app, but had $2400 stolen from my room, making the discount irrelevant, and making my stay highly stressful and extremely disappointing. Upon arrival the front desk needed a manager to check me in because they apparently have never seen a discount code applied to the price of the rooms. 15 minutes later I'm finally checked in and handed a map because I'll need one to decipher where my room is in this poorly laid out hotel.  Room was clean enough but the theme I'm reading about mould is accurate, as it was all over the back of the shower curtain. Breakfast was sub par at best. Cookware in suite needs to be replaced. Checked out and discovered $2400 cash was gone. Immediately called hotel and was instructed that the manager would inspect my room for the money when he returned. Told it had not been cleaned although I had checked out 24 hours prior. Find this impossible to believe as this is not protocol anywhere. They didn't find the money. Instructed me to file police report which I did. No cameras by my door, how convenient. Police had no leads so case closed. Marriott refused to provide copy of any report for me to use for insurance.  Had to track down numbers of the CEO and the VP myself. After several calls and emails I finally heard back from their liaison. I was told they would look into the stolen money claim. Approx 3 weeks of back and forth and Marriott absolves themselves of any responsibility. I am told that Marriott doesn't own the hotel or employ the workers here, but Island Hospitality group is in fact the owner and they use Marriott in name only. I'm given a number to contact IHG and I try to reach them over the course of weeks, making numerous calls. Not once do I speak to a live person and I am still waiting for a call back. It seems I have been swept under the rug, given a phone number that only goes to voicemail, and then they are screened. In a sort of purgatory if you will. I am extremely disappointed that Marriott would allow their name to be used, potentially ruining their reputation for IHG, who obviously does not care about stolen money claims and who lacks the basic business etiquette of returning calls. Everyone involved with the operation of this hotel has dropped the ball. I will never stay at another Marriott, any property owned by IHG, nor will I support  anything that either one is affiliated with. I strongly suggest you consider doing the same.

I've been at this hotel a few times for interviews and business meetings. The staff has been friendly and focused on ensuring a comfortable visit. The rooms are spacious. They have 2 pools and a basketball court. The lobby is amazing as its 2 stories. The upper level is rarely used but offers the perfect meeting area. Customer service staff shout out to Kim. She was a fun to talk to. My only as is to lower the prices of for snacks. I spent $16 on gummys and a few drinks. That's more expensive than the airport. See you in 3 weeks!

The pictures on the Marriott website looked nice. The reality was somewhat different. Were given a ground floor room in the annex area. At first sight and smell it seemed strange but just about acceptable. I had a further look round the room, pulled back the bedding and found an old sock in the bed. Housekeeping had clearly not bothered changing the linens from the previous guests and just remade the beds. On complaining to the front desk we were then given a duplex suite in the same block which was better ( eg clean). The hotel is in the middle of what appears to be an industrial estate......there is nothing within the immediate vicinity. Breakfast adequate. Were it not for the actions of the front desk manager this would be a 1 star review due poor cleanliness of the room we were given initially.

Worst experience at a Marriott I have ever had. We arrived after travelling 15 hours and were pleasantly surprised to hear that we were upgraded. That was the end of pleasant! We opened the sofabed to discover the last guest's dirty linens. The flatware in the drawer was "sticky" and the white door was ominously grey (all of the doors had that hue). But the best was saved for the morning. After visiting the breakfast where, as others have already pointed out, there was very little food available, we grabbed yogurt and decided to just get out of this place. I went into the bathroom to shower only to find out that the tub had no water! I called the desk expecting a huge apology and an offer of a change of rooms but she sent the maintenance person instead. He wiggled the handle and managed to get the water going but when I asked him to show me how to do it, he just barely got it to run again (and the temperature was on the chilly side of lukewarm!) I jumped in quickly washed up and left it running so that other family members could do the same. Then the water would not turn off! Another call to the front desk and when no one came we played with it until it turned off. This was a pain for sure, but I couldn't help but wonder how housekeeping cleaned a tub with no water! Thank goodness we had flip flops with us. When we left I asked for the manager and was told he was not in but she would relay my message. I explained that I wanted the reward points that I used for this transaction to be refunded. I heard nothing so I called midweek the following week where, after he pretended that his assistant manager was to have called me, he put me on hold and checked with the front desk to verify my story. He came back on the line and said he would have the points reinstated but it would take a couple of days. Flash forward a week when I finally called Marriott customer service directly to find out that he did NOTHING! I guess he thought he would wait me out. The representative listened to my complaint and said that, of course I would get my points back. Save yourself a lot of time and disappointment and drive right past this hotel.
