Best room for the money! Room was clean and bed was comfy. Nice to have hard wood floors instead of dirt-catching carpets! Breakfast bar was adequate, but no fresh fruit. Eisenhower Blvd is a very busy road, but we did not hear a lot of traffic noise from our room. Would definitely stay here again.
We normally stay at Marriott brand hotels due to business travel and points, but could not find anything at a reasonable price for our night in Harrisburg. Found the Econo Lodge for $69 a night on Orbitz and ratings seemed positive. Room was very clean, beds comfortable, and shower was hot and strong. We were even surprised to find that they offered a light breakfast in the morning including waffles, toast, cereal, coffee and juices. Free wifi was a little slow in the morning. This hotel is a great value for the dollar.
My husband and I stayed for two nights while we visited Gettysburg. The room was clean but had a smell that was a mix of damp/mustiness/bathroom. We had to buy a candle for the second night and it only slightly helped. When we returned after being out for the day the room was barely cleaned. We had a couple new towels and garbages we emptied. The floors weren't swept and sinks weren't cleaned. The breakfast left a lot to be desired, it offered cereal/toast. I could hardly wait to check out.
Stayed with family two nights for Hersheypark visit. Didn't want to waste money on expensive Hershey hotels and after some search selected this Harrisburg Econo lodge. Had excellent experience with it, nothing bad can be said. Room on the second floor was spacious, clean and quiet. Equipment (remote-controlled AC, tv, microwave, fridge, shower) worked well. Queen size beds, which is another big reason I chose this hotel, were very comfortable. Coffee and cold drinks were always available in the lobby. Breakfast food was Ok, with limited selection which is to be expected for budget hotel, but fresh: tasty pastries, ripe bananas. Breakfast sitting area is very small, most people were taking food to their rooms, which we usually prefer to do anyway. Location of hotel is somewhat secluded, no place to walk to, but pretty convenient for driving around.
Staff very nice. We arrived early and they allowed us to check in. We reserved 4 rooms. Two were ready, about 30 minute wait for other two. Shower was not great. Old fixtures, difficult to regulate temp. Vanity mirror had splatters on it so was not cleaned well from previous guests. Toilet old and did not flush properly. Beds were comfortable and clean. Laminate wood floors. No carpeting which is good. Hate dirty carpets in hotel rooms! Dining area small, only 3 tables. Coffee was terrible! Overall ok to stay 1-2 nights but not for long stay.
I am truly baffled how this property has such a good rating. Our room, overall, looked fairly old and in need of updating and struck us as if it were not super clean. When my daughter went into the bathroom to take a shower, we were shocked to see that it was absolutely disgusting. There was a thick layer of mold on the shower curtain and there were horrible stains all over the ceiling (see photos). The rest of the bathroom (tiles, floor, etc.) did not appear very clean either (grime in corners, etc). If we hadn't gotten in so late and needed to be out early in the morning we would've requested a room change. We skipped the free breakfast because it contained lots of sugary cereals and not much variety worth taking. Very disappointed with this property and will not try another Econo Lodge in the future.
Location was excellent, late arrival handled with no problem, very quiet room and just the right price. Room was at end of hallway. Very close to the airport. All around great place to stay. Just 2 of us, but, very worth the stay
This hotel was way beyond expectation. The rooms were spacious and clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast wasn't much...cereal, toast, juice, etc. There are about 3-4 tables set up in the lobby for eating breakfast. East access to interstate and great places to eat. Would definitely stay here again.
Almost went 4 stars because I hated the bathroom lights. They came on automatically as soon as someone walked in. Not even a chance to get the door closed, so not only did the person using the bathroom get fully awakened, but also the sleeping spouse. I should have asked at the desk, though. There might have been a way to control it. The room was very clean and comfortable. It was at the end of the hall #113 and was quiet. There was a sofa, fridge, and microwave. Despite the lights, I would stay there again. The breakfast included cook your own waffles, cereals, toast, and pastries. There were juices, teas, and coffees. All I expect for continental breakfast. Two hints: 1) book on the Econo Lodge website. Rates went down and we rebooked and saved over $10. 2) Eat at the Lancaster Brewing Company. It is about a 3 minute walk. We cut through the car wash and Howard Johnson's. They had decent happy hour specials.
Would not stay here again. The room did not seem real clean. We found a nice size bug on our bed as we were about to turn out the lights for the night. We killed it, but felt a little uneasy the rest of the night. The room did have a frig, but not sure I would have used it because there was brown stuff on the inside; no idea what that was. The location is not great either. Breakfast was inadequate as well; we ended up getting breakfast elsewhere. We were scheduled at this hotel for 2 nights, but only stayed one night.
