The Staff was VERY nice and helpful. They made our trip great. The hotel is boutique and in a fantastic location, in the heart of Old Quarter. The only negative was the air conditioner leaked water. But no big deal.

great breakfast, good location. The bathtub is elaborate but the shower is not as comfortable as I would like. It would be difficult for an older person to use.

the hotel tour packages were too expensive as i found out when i booked other trips from the outside tour operators

A small hotel in a great location, very close to the city center. Rooms are very clean and comfortable, although closet space was a problem (at least in my room). The internet service was excellent, but the TV offering was poor for a Western traveler, it is only BBC that is available, unless you enjoy the Vietnamese, Chinese, or Thai TV! The best experience for me was the interaction that I had with the staff they are so curious about other places and people.

My family and I stayed at the Hanoi Imperial Hotel and absolutely loved it. The location is perfect for short walks to the night market, water puppet theaters, amazing shopping and dining. It is a very clean and nice hotel for the cost, but the most impressive part is the hotel staff. Extremely friendly and helpful, they truly made our trip to Hanoi the best ever. The staff went out of their way to take care of us from calling taxis and giving them directions, to going out and buying my family water puppet tickets. The staff is well groomed in the art of hospitality and they spoke exceptional English. This hotel was refreshing and impressive. I highly recommend it!

The staff was great. Very helpful. The breakfast was pretty good. You're able to order omelettes and pho. I'm easy to please. The room was a good size with plenty of room for 2. I do have to say it again, the staff was great. Smiling faces even when I'd walk in at 10:00 - 11:00 p.m. or leaving at 6:00 in the morning.

The best thing about this hotel is the location- on a quiet, shady street that is really an easy walk to the lake and markets. We enjoyed an electric car tour of the market and eating at the restaurants on the street. I was a bit disappointed by the room- it was good sized, but our "1 king bed and 1 queen bed" turned out to be a two queen beds pushed together and a single. Something leaked under the bathtub, so the floor was very wet after showers. Overall felt a bit shabby. The staff was extremely helpful and pleasant, however.

The service was exemplary at this hotel. The staff were very courteous and helpful. I was traveling with my mother, who has a disability. The staff went out of their way to assist her and cater to her needs while we were guests in the hotel.

Excellent price/quality. Staff speaks good English, very polite, active and capable. Very good breakfast buffet, where you can additionally order eggs for free. Good internet. If you want a room with a view, don't go there. My room was silent, windowless, and it smelled very bad (sewer) and they couldn't fixe it. Crossing the street in Vietnam (Hanoi and Saigon) is the worst of nightmares. USD can we used everywhere.

Arrived late as original flight cancelled. Everyone exceptionally sweet Concierge personnel saved us tremendously by getting us shuttle arrangements to HaLong Bay. Many Thanks. They had BANANA MILKSHAKES and fruit in our rooms and water bottles!! Breakfast was rooftop and eggs to order. Modest but suited our needs, juice , hot foods, yogurt, melon...hot and cold drinks and water for filling up bottles. It was INcluded!

Overall the facility and amenities were sub-par. The facility claimed to be handicap accessible and it was not. There were multiple steps that one would have to take before you can get to the elevator; the breakfast area was on the 8th floor and the elevator only goes up to the 6th floor, again, making it very difficult for an elderly person to get to

I stayed here for 6 nights with my girlfriend and had a thoroughly pleasant time. The staff are very attentive and very helpful. They really are very friendly and will try their best to help and assist you in any way; from the first moment you make your reservation until you eventually leave the hotel, they really are great. The receptionists all speak English very well, and even though my girlfriend doesn't speak English they made her feel very welcome with some choice Japanese words and phrases, which I thought was a nice touch. The location is fantastic! It's off on a little side street so you kinda avoid most of the constant car / bike horn soundtrack that accompanies Hanoi 24/7 but you are still right in the thick of the Hanoi action! The breakfast buffet was also a pleasant surprise, offering a wide range of hot / cold foods and fresh fruits, really setting you up nicely for a long day dodging traffic. We stayed in an imperial room, which (if you break down the confusing deluxe, superior, imperial pseudonyms) is their highest quality and most expensive room. The room was a great size, with a HUGE bed and a very nice bathroom, and house keeping do a good job cleaning up everyday (especially if you're messy like I am) Unlike what is advertised on this site, The hotel is infact a 3-star hotel not 4-star, however it is still very good value and the customer service is really 5 star. The only slight problem I had with the hotel was the spa, which I wouldn't recommend, as me and my lady both had a 60 minute massage side by side which was accompanied for the full 60 minutes by the two 'masseuses' enthralled in deep conversation in Vietnamese both laughing and sniggering constantly which was very disconcerting and made it impossible to relax. But apart from this unprofessional spa experience, literally everything else about this hotel is truly fantastic. If I were ever to go to Hanoi again (which I doubt, once is truly enough) I would definitely stay at this hotel again and I would definitely recommend it to anyone else I knew who was going to Hanoi.

The staff at the hotel were great....... My wife and I were traveling with 2 year old twins. We received lots of help from the staff during our stay. Everyone could speak English, give great directions, etc. Plan is to go back in 2014 and that's where we will stay.......... Hanoi Imperial......... Thanks. David L. Ammann

We were in Hanoi, for the first time, for only a few days, and on a tight budget. This is perhaps the best possible 3-star-rated place to stay. The staff is dedicated to making everything work out. Our e-mail inquiries ahead of our arrival were promptly answered; this included a reservations for tours of the city and to Halong Bay. Hassle-free currency exchange, satisfactory breakfast, great local food in the neighborhood, etc. Will return without hesitation, unless someone else wants to pay our bill to stay in Sofitel.

If you're looking for a decent hotel that offers good value and is in a great location in the Old Quarter, this is worth checking into. Some things to watch out for - motorbikes parked along the entrance, and even a vendor cart (which is what I faced when I arrived after midnight), so that it can be hard to get to the front door. The streets outside can be rather offputting to negotiate, but once inside the hotel all is fine. The hotel's elevator only reaches the 6th floor and the breakfast room is on the 8th, so be prepared to do a bit of stair climbing. The room is fine but I was located on the 7th floor under the dining room so I was awakened by 6:15 am each day since breakfast is served starting 6:30 am. It's an older building, so you will hear more noises. Staff was great in helping me out with tours and were all unfailingly polite. Get recommendations from the web on great street food in the area - you don't have to spend much for good food. It's just a block from the Lake and another short walk to the Water Puppet Theater so location is excellent plus the side street location makes the area relatively quiet. The breakfast buffet was quite good. Overall, good value for money and would definitely recommend for travelers who don't mind stairs.

Absolutely perfect hotel for a "home base" while exploring HaNoi. It was a couple of blocks away from Hoan Kiem Lake and steps away from good food and drink. It is located on what is almost a side street which resulted in a little less traffic than other places. We were able to walk almost everywhere. The hotel itself is clean clean clean. And sparkling. We did not hear noise in our 5th floor room. We had AC, cable, bathtub with jet sprays and shower heads, fresh fruits daily (loved the avocado and longan especially), complimentary bottles of water. I believe it may even have included breakfast but we never partook of it since we were usually up and out of the hotel before 6 am. And the bed... huge, comfortable, enough pillows (rare for me), We had the best vacation in Vietnam and this was the best hotel we've stayed. The staff was so friendly and helpful; we felt very comfortable there. We asked for the name of a restaurant that served banh cuon, a dish we'd heard of and never tried; one of the staff directed us to his favorite restaurant. We went there directly and had the best meal yet. It was to be just a snack but we ended up with 3 orders and 3 bia hoi. The staff came out and thatnked us on the night we left... they even arranged a driver for our trip to the airport. We left Vietnam after 10 days, which wasn't enough!, having such a warm spot in our hearts for HaNoi and its people. Of course our stay in the Hanoi Imperial Hotel had so much to do with that feeling since we felt safe and comfortable and welcomed there. AND I did not even mention the massages/pedicares we enjoyed in the hotel! I promise that we will stay there is we ever make back to HaNoi. I'm working on getting my guy to promise to take me back there!

Excellent location in the heart of the Old Quarter. Three minutes walk to Hoan Kiem Lake and Water Puppet Theater. Good buffet breakfast on the top floor with great view. Free Wi-Fi.

Dear Mr./Mrs. d, Thank you for staying with us while being in Hanoi and for reviewing Hanoi Imperial Hotel on this site. First of all, I would like to sorry for any inconveniences you encountered with the bathroom. I am very much regretful for all the troubles you went through. We have had a big meeting with all departments and lessons are sure learnt. The lift project has been finished and all hotel activities are back to normal. Secondly, regarding your comment about the tour price I would like to explain our goals so that you would have a more understanding look upon the matter. The rates of the tours we arrange here at the hotel is always equal or at a better discounted rates compared to the public rates posted on websites of any tour companies themselves. And once we book a tour for you, it is our responsibility to make sure that you are taken cared of from the time you book until after you return from the tour. So if there is any inconveniences or concerns you have regarding the tour, it is our hotel's tour consultant who will find a solution and offer you the best in our ability. This is our guarantee, unlike many tour agents who can offer you a lower rates (which is out of our understanding) but will not offer you any insurance service. So the call of choosing a proper tour agent is yours, but we can proudly say that the service offered here at our hotel is not only reasonably prices but with very high standard as our promise to add value for your vacation. Once again, please give us your understanding and we would be honored to have another chance to be at your service. Kind regards,
