This is a hotel small in size but big in service with very helpful staff.

It was all we expected from the great reviews. Wonderful staff, great location, great stay.

Probably the best stay we've ever had! The staff was amazing - so friendly and goes out of their way to improve our stay. Our room was upgraded upon check-in and was so clean and beautiful! We would come back to Hanoi just to stay here again!

My girlfriend and I are in our 30s from new york city. The staff at this hotel were absolutely fantastic. They really took care of us, especially considering we needed a place to stay when returning from Halongbay before getting on the train to Sapa. Much appreciate it! Great value for money.

staff very helpful and polite, very good breakfast. Location in the middle of old quarter, 15-20min walk to lake but a little tough to walk since there is no sidewalk.

We were treated like royalty in this boutique hotel - the staff was so welcoming, friendly and helpful! This was one of the best hotel experiences we've ever had. The staff went out of their way to make things easier for us and delivered a level of service that was above and beyond our expectations. The location is great - right in the middle of old quarter and a few minutes from the west lake. I will definitely come back to Hanoi just to stay here again.

Stay in Feb 2014. Great location-near Lake Hoan Kiem, Cathedral, restaurants... Good value.....Book Ha Long Bay cruise ( Paradise) through the hotel - enjoyed it. Arranged hotel pick up at airport ($20). Good breakfast.

From the moment I arrived to the moment I departed, I was pampered by the staff at this hotel. A cold towel to wash my face and a glass of fresh mango juice was just the start. Location is good in the Old District and there are many nearby restaurants.

We read great reviews about this place and we were still impressed with the hotel! Service of a 5 star hotel but cost of 2 star hotel -- the staff there are unbelievable great, you should not pass up a chance to stay here, very central and while rooms are compact, everything else is fabulous, especially breakfast!

LOVE HOTEL ELEGANCE RUBY!!! I can't gush enough about Hotel Elegance Ruby, and we travel a lot, typically staying in 4-5-star hotels. We chose Hotel Elegance Ruby because of its rating, location, and remarkable value, and were not steered wrong. It's located in the heart of the Old Quarter -- by far the best location -- on a quiet side street with fantastic shops selling vegetables, seafood and meats. When we arrived, a staff member immediately gave us delicious fresh watermelon smoothies and sat down with us to go over their convenient city map of sites, restaurants, and neighborhoods. Our first room was on the 8th (top) floor, and was perfect — loved the modern furniture! There was a bottle of white wine and basket of fresh exotic fruit awaiting us, plus rose petals on bed, when we arrived. We checked out for two days for a Halong Bay trip, and when we returned we received an even bigger room -- and I mean BIG! The hotel is super-clean throughout. The free breakfast is astonishing: endless supply of pretty much whatever you wish from 6AM-10AM, from eggs and bacon to cheeseburgers, fresh fruit, exotic fruit smoothies... They even have a second-floor lounge with refreshments, a shower, and comfortable furniture for that usually inconvenient post-check-out/pre-airport. BEST OF ALL: The staff of Hotel Elegance Ruby is EXTRAORDINARY: knowledgeable, kind, generous, friendly, and catering to every need. We stayed at a 5-star hotel in Ho Chi Minh City and did not receive service as fine as this. When we return, we will most certainly stay here again. LOVE HOTEL ELEGANCE RUBY!!!

What a wonderful experience I had ! Everybody were smiling and tried their best to satisfy customers. I love their breakfast, specially Pho. This hotel has 4 sister hotel in the old quarter in Hanoi and I had a lunch and a dinner at two sister hotels and both turned out excellent.

Staffs are very friendly, and work hard to satisfy customers. Room is small but very clean and the breakfast is good. I would use this hotel as well as their sister hotels in Hanoi if I come back to Hanoi in the future. The overall rating of this hotel is 5 stars.

We had one night in Hanoi before visiting Ha Long Bay and one night after. This hotel was great. We were warmly welcomed and the staff helped us settle payment with our taxi driver who did not speak a word of English. The room was very clean and also had an in-room laptop. The location of the hotel was very central in the Old Quarter. When we returned from Ha Long Bay, they greated us personally. The staff was so amazingly friendly, spoke excellent English and available for all questions. We had an early morning flight and they when out of their way to offer to print our boarding passes and book a taxi for us. The breakfast which was included in our room rate was a la carte, was delicious and included many options. On the last day we were leaving for the airport before breakfast started and the staff offered to prepare us a breakfast to go. We had a friend who happened to be in Hanoi at the same time and met us at the hotel. We sat down in a lobby area to talk and while we were doing this, the staff brought us some juice which was thoughtful. Although we did not use this option, if you are headed to Ha Long Bay, the hotel offers to store some of your luggage for you.

The staff at the Hanoi Elegance Ruby make the hotel, taking service to its highest level. Even before my husband and I arrived, the hotel manager contacted us online to welcome us and offer us assitance. He helped us set up our visas, our pick up from the airport, and a cruise to Halong Bay. When we arrived we were greeted warmly and oriented to the big city of Hanoi. The breakfast was excellent. The room was clean. And the employees always opened the door for us and greeted us whenever we came back from an outing. They truly made us feel special.

Our stay started with the hotel greeting us at the airport to drive us into the hotel, a brilliant service and inexpensive. The staff are warm, welcoming, courteous and incredibly hospitable and helpful. The room was beautifully appointed, very clean and comfortable. The included breakfast was great. On my next trip to Hanoi I will most definitely be staying at either the Ruby or one of their sister hotels in the city centre. They do a brilliant job with impeccable service.

Do not waste your money at the Hilton or the Metropole--this hotel is reasonably quiet, clean, very friendly staff, great breakfasts in the morning, and an excellent location in the Old Quarter that is off the main streets. The rooms are not large but they are more than adequate for sleeping and resting during the day. The entire hotel is very clean and quiet considering the urban setting. 5 minute walk to Hoan Kiem Lake. Save your money--this is a perfectly adequate and lovely hotel.

We felt very welcome as soon as we walked into the hotel lobby. The staff went out of their way to provide us with the information we wanted about touring Hanoi and arranging the pick-up for Ha Long Bay. Our double room was lovely and the breakfast good.

We are residents of Japan and so are accustomed to excellent service, but must say that the Hanoi Elegance 4 (Ruby) offered the most friendly and thorough hospitality we have experienced in our travels to date. The location of the hotel is right in the center of old Hanoi, the hotel is small and spotless, and the staff are amazing. Kudos to the owner for training/approach to hotel management.

I came back to Vietnam, partly as a tourist and partly as a visiting professor at the medical school. I do not like 5 star hotels where the staff is not allowed to actually have a conversation with you and where Vietnamese friends feel out of place in their own country. This is not a 5 star hotel for those who do not want to actually be in Vietnam. For those who are comfortable with a family shrine tucked inconspicuously off the corner of the hotel lobby and appreciate being able to actually talk with a university student working the night shift at the desk, this hotel is the perfect fit. Inside is clean, quiet and relaxed in a friendly atmosphere. The distinctively Vietnamese backstreet outside the door is safe but filled with street vendors and small shops that sell everything from haircuts to fresh produce to the neighborhood. A few steps further down the backstreet (but just far enough to reduce the noise at night) are the main shopping thoroughfares and attractions of the old city.

The elegance is probably the best deal we have ever had in years of travel to Latin America, Europe, Asia and a bit of Africa. Immaculate rooms, incredibly friendly, warm, and skillful staff.
