Great well kept historic hotel right in town. Beautiful grounds, beautiful well kept hotel, room was great and 5* staff, super friendly staff. Beds are super comfortable, we didn't eat on site, but the menu looked great, and would've been better than where we chose to eat in town.
This hotel looks quite grand from the outside but unfortunately it is 'faded' grandeur. We has a superior room which had seen better days apart from the bed which was very comfortable. The furniture is really very tatty, dented and scruffy and not what we were expecting. We had two chairs which were ok but the small TV was tucked to the side of a wardrobe so pretty unwatchable from any position in the room. Worst of all was the bathroom. The metal blind was bent and dented and the toilet seat was extremely thin and cheap - not impressive at all. Altogether a rather disappointing experience.
We spent a night in one of the Garden Villas and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The restaurant is excellent and food did not disappoint. Will be returning later in the month for another visit. The beautiful gardens are great for strolls and the tennis courts and petanque offer plenty to do.
We stayed in in Villa 464 and were very disappointed. The place needs refurbishing. The furniture is worn through in some places. The microwave was so dirty we couldnt use it. The refrigerator froze all our food. The chimney flu was loose and rattled all night keeping us awake. Far too expensive for what we got. Management not particularly interested. They just keep saying the units will be updated but it doesnt happen
Had a very relaxing stay here in one of their garden rooms. Lovely setting and very quiet. The rooms had everything needed and a lovely big comfy bed. It is a little more expensive than even the top motels. Giving the same level of comfort but very handy location. Would probably stay again if there was an offer on. We paid $179 per night and that was a special so a bit pricey. Check in was easy though not the most friendly.
Fantastic hotel, set in lovely grounds, right in the heart of Hanmer. Our room was very well appointed and comfortable. Excellent value for money. Lots of parking. Only wish we had been able to spend more time here.
Great hotel, very good value for money. Restaurant staff very helpful in dealing with coeliac menu. Stayed in a lovely chalet by the pool. Very comfortable. Only negative was WiFi, it was very hit and miss. Kept kicking us off system. Front of house were not very helpful in dealing with the issue.
Helpful staff, lovely villa, even had a load of wood ready for the log burner. It was like having your own mountain retreat, yet we were 5 minutes walk away from the town and thermal pools. Beds super comfy and views of the mountains during the day and stars at night made this reunion trip with friends very special.
I visited Hamner Springs late December with my 10 year old daughter just for the 1 night 'getaway' during our stay in Christchurch. We booked a twin room and was given a room with 2 x double beds in - perfect! The rooms were clean, comfortable, ours overlooked the side of the hotel, which didn't bother us given we were hardly in the room. Using the pool to cool down late in the day was a plus, and, had we had the time, we would have also used the tennis courts! The hotel is within walking distance to most Hamner Springs attractions which again suited us well. The only downside (if I'm being 'picky') is the breakfast. We had every intention of having breakfast in house, but found (as can be the way with most hotel breakies nowadays) much better value and 'delicious-ness' in one of the local cafes.
As part of our fly drive around the South Island we stopped in for only 1 night. Whilst it was quite hot outside the fans inside the room were adequate. The hotel itself is a lovely old world feel and the grounds and other facilities looked great - if we stayed longer we could have really enjoyed them. Certainly would recommend the Heritage.
