I recently stayed at the Raven whilst visiting friends and had a great visit. The young lady on reception was very welcoming and helpful throughout my stay. The room had everything i needed, was very comfortable and cleaned to a high standard. Great variety at breakfast in a relaxed dining area.
Stayed here for one night on route to Heathrow. Nice warm room with comfy bed. Tea and coffee facilities in room. Good breakfast. Nice food served in pub attached to hotel. Much better that the soulless hotels at Heathrow. In all a good freindly hotel. Will definitely use again
I've stayed a few timers at the raven now and feel I need to leave a review. I've always had a double room that's nice and clean, the beds are fantastic and offer a great nights sleep! Decent shower and a good breakfast top it off. Getting a room with a nice big TV is a bonus! The bar is pleasant and the food good, staff have always been helpful and friendly, especially management who have always been happy to help.
Stayed for one night during the week. The hotel is very basic and quite dated. The rooms are clean and presentable. The location is great tho. Close to local amenities and next to the train station. A touch pricey for the quality.
We stayed here because it was close to where friends now live. We’d never been before but will definitely use again. It was clean, comfortable and excellent value for money. The staff were courteous, welcoming and efficient
Stayed here in December for a couple of nights to visit family. Lovely staff, the choice for breakfast was exceptional. The adjoins pub was very nice. The room decor was a little dated, however lovely and warm, comfy bed. Kettle, drinks and biscuits. Had an amazing shower very powerful. My only criticism is that the walls were very thin, so much so I heard my neighbour and their bodily functions in the morning, not ideal. Could also hear a child talking in the other side. Our room was no 3. However, other family members never had these issues so perhaps their walls a little thicker. Other than that had a lovely stay, but if you are a light sleeper worth asking for a quiet room.
Me and my husband stayed here as we were attending a local wedding, the price was good, and all the members of staff we had dealings with were pleasant and friendly. The room could do with updating though (21), it was in desperate need of painting and the bath had black mold around it, so we didn't use it. Bed was comfy and we slept well. The hallway radiators couldn't be turned down so it was like walking into a sauna when you stepped outside your room. We had a drink in the bar before we headed off to the wedding, a little strange as the gentlemen who were gathered leaning against the bar wouldn't actually move out of the way to let us get served... that was off putting so we wished we hadn't bothered! I wouldn't stay again.
Popped in for breakfast to break a journey over the Christmas period. Service was slow because there were not enough staff and those that were there were unhelpful. Finally got served but when breakfast came we were told the he’d apologised that some of it was missing and that it would come out soon. 35 mins later still no sign of the missing items. In the meantime, we had to find our own utensils, serviettes, butter and sauces. Clearly we were an inconvenience. Will not be back!
This is really a pub/restaurant with rooms and whilst not expensive, should be cheaper based on it's lack of amenities. Room was clean and the breakfast was good quality, if not limited. Stayed for one night for a seminar the next day and it's location next to the train station made it easy to find. Did the job for me without any real complaints, but if you want a nice luxurious hotel, go elsewhere
A group of 4 colleagues and I had been staying on and off at The Raven Hotel for approximately 4 months. We had stayed in other hotels in the surrounding area but once we found The Raven we booked in week after week. All the hotel staff are very welcoming, friendly and provide a personal service. There is always a nice smile waiting for you at check in and from every member of staff throughout the day. The staff obviously like working at the Hotel and it shows from their hospitality. There is a variety of rooms and all are clean and well maintained, the beds are amazing, probably the comfiest beds I had ever stayed in. The en-suites are a good size and the showers are great with excellent water pressure all over the hotel. Also, there is free WIFI throughout and loads of free parking. The breakfast is really good. There is a great selection that you can order from the menu that is then cooked to order fresh and to your personal requirements. There is also an excellent selection of cereals, toast, muffins, Danish pastries, fruit, yogurt, and every type of tea bag you can imagine. All in all, a brilliant Hotel, excellent value, superb staff and a great breakfast. We will definitely be staying again. 100% Recommended.
